It was the Muslims who started the wars of religion. Modern politically correct histories will tell you that Jerusalem fell to the Muslims without a fight but, in fact, the reason no major battle was fought for Jerusalem in 638 was that Byzantines had been defeated at Battle of Yarmuk in 636. Jerusalem sustained a 4 month siege before it surrendered.

When President Obama spoke at the Al-Azhar University in Cairo, he omitted to mention that although Coptic Christians are forced to pay taxes to support it, they are not allowed to attend it. Fisk has also failed to mention this fact.

Denouncing the Crusades is a bit like beginning a history of the Second World War in 1944 and stating that D-day, the invasion of Normandy, was a wicked invasion, concocted by Britain, the USA and other allies, of France which was, of course, the natural home of the Germans.
You have to ignore centuries of Muslim aggression to reach this conclusion.
At this time the simple sentence of adoration above received a +11 rating. Meanwhile, the intelligent and worthwhile contributions of "CharlesDickens99" received a -6 rating, and now are hidden. Why this "Fisk Love"? It is a good thing "all journalists" do NOT have the integrity of Robert Fisk, as journalism is in sad enough shape as it is. When a journalist refuses to ask questions, uses corrupt info, and omits crucial info, that is not a journalist of integrity. Such a journalist is R. Fisk.
Thanks for the suggestions, fuascait, but I'm more than familiar with the claims made to affirm genocide; I only see hearsay and forgeries. For example, your hero, Fisk, has pointed to Andonian's Talat Pasha forgeries for evidence. That is inexcusable. Fisk is a propagandist, at least for Armenians - which makes anything else he produces difficult to trust.. See how Fisk goes wrong here:
robert fisk is not an hero of mine...i just view him as a very good journalist..for some reason you don't ..if thats due to your political views ,never mind.
Of course when I used the word "hero" I did not think you have built a shrine to this man. However, when you make a statement such as "if all journalists had the integrity of robert fisk ," that shows you see him in the highest possible light. The reason why I disagree is hardly mysterious, and it has nothing to do with my political views. Someone could have different political views but I can still respect him for maintaining honesty. Fisk has great trouble distinguishing fact from fiction.
Correct. I do have an agenda; when I encounter vicious propaganda that spreads hatred & racism, and that spits in the face of factual evidence (as with the "Armenian genocide"), then my agenda is to uplift the truth. That should be the agenda of every honorable person. If you consider yourself one then please overcome the prejudices that lead you have such "agenda" suspicions, and be ruthless with the facts. And indeed journalists should have integrity, yet you feel Fisk is an exemplary example.

Actually, there are things I've read from Fisk that have impressed me. But once one gets wind of how grossly a journalist allows himself to distort the facts, as he has clearly done with the Armenian genocide matter, then one realizes we are dealing with a corrupt character. Anything else he writes about, even subjects one is in agreement with, becomes suspect.
And thank you for wishing me luck on uplifting truth. Every one of us needs to be concerned with such a goal in this dishonest world.
@tellyoutrue What propaganda? What has he said that is deemed as vicious propaganda that condones hatred & racism? I'm really curious to know where and when has he done these things that you accuse him of.
@tellyoutrue I wish to ask you where have you obtained your 'facts' over the corrupt info that Robert Fisk apparently uses?
Because reading your comments, it seems that your more than happy to play ignorant and not care about some of the carnage and terror that has been committed in the Middle East and the other areas of conflict that he has covered.
I don't believe that Fisk has an agenda. All I've seen is a man that has tried to show the world how savage mankind can be to one another.
Have you read this thread? As examples of Fisk's propaganda: Andonian's Talat Pasha forgeries, and you can access a link to a video. He gets his facts from Armenian-friendly sources. I mostly get my facts from the same. Less conflict-of-interest often points to more reliable truth. When he falsely equates Turks with Nazi behavior, that promotes racism. I don't know what gave you the idea I don't acknowledge "carnage & terror" even when committed by Turks; the point is factual genocidal proof.
Bad analogy; The US media Saddam-Hitler comparison was made as an attempt to demonize Saddam, a common war tactic; also, the criticism was leveled against an individual, not a people. When Turks are compared to Nazis, however, an entire nation is demonized. Age-old anti-Turkish propaganda already has painted Turks as lowlifes, & the Nazi parallel further increases the existing hatred & racism. You can't honestly compare one regime with another if one is based on fact & the other hateful hearsay.

In Fisks latest book The Age of the Warrior, he writes the following factual inaccuracy.Shakespeare lived at a time when the largely Muslim Ottoman Empirethen at the zenith of its power, remained an existential if not a real threat for Europeans.
In 1565, one year after the birth of Shakespeare (1564), the Turkish Ottomans besieged Malta and were defeated by the Knights Hospitallers of St John.
When Queen Elizabeth I of England heard of the victory she ordered church bells rung.

Fisk also ignores, or is ignorant of, other examples of Ottoman Imperialism such as
The Breaking of the Siege of Vienna (14th, October 1529)
The Battle of Lepanto (7th of October, 1571)
The Battle of Khotyn (9th of October, 1621)
The Battle of Vienna (11th of September, 1683)
There is lots of factual inaccuracy in Fisks work. Read Efraim Karshs review of The Great War for Civilization.
