Too bad the series got canceled. I wonder what Stillson would've done if he had gotten a vision via John like Bruce did in "Zion" but in his case having a vision of the future and the destruction he'll cause. It would pick up that thread of flashback when Stillson and John were kids and John having a vision of Armageddon even then. This only happened in the series. Never in the movie or the book.
