I have a '01 with the 3.5 V6 and it is a junk box, it has never given me any trouble, but when you put the hammer down, theres no power, idk why, its got low miles and is a nice sized V6. Previously I owned a cadillac sts and am currently looking for another one (my aurora is for sale if anyone is interested).
I have an 01' Oldsmobile Aurora 3.5 V6, The color is a nice Ruby. I do enjoy this car a lot, it does have quite some power to it. But mine seems to be a bit of a 'lemon' If you know what I mean. Does anyone else have an issue where the transmission makes a forceful thrust when it is downshifting once you let off the gas? This happens ever so often for me but it is still very annoying.
Sorry to kind of bash on your video, but i have a '01 aurora 3.5V6 with 60xxx miles and i hate it to say the least. The only reason i bought it was cuz the the miles, single owner and price. I will say it is excellent on fuel and i like the rear fog lights, there an option you don't see too often on cars, but other than that, it is slow and has horrible handling. I am looking to sell it soon, if anyone is interested, message me.
@Myaurora2001 You said your car was the "best car ever" implying that every other car that came before or after it wasn't any good, this was your opinion. My opinion, after hearing the horror stories of Aroura electrical problems, and seeing them not age well, is that my 20 year old car is better. This is simply my opinion, and as such, I'm treating it lightly. I loved the original Aroura, and this one looks nice, but mechanically it's like any other GM car, shit.
@karkraz ur 90 honda i mean acura rides like shit compare to the Aurora, and performs worse than the 3.5 period.. You are using a stick because Honda's Auto sucks balls..On top of that, This is more of a luxury car than a Rice looking Lets put a wing to make mY HONDA look faster..You sound like you're in highschool, reminds me of me when I was 16
@Arlind86 Sorry but I have to disagree with you there, this, like all big GM boats flops around and can't take corners even though it's got huge tires and sway bars. And I would certainly hope a 3.5L would out perform a 2.7L that's 20 years older. You've also never seen my car, there isn't now, or ever will be a retarded wing, it does have a small factory duck tail spoiler however.
@LeGeNDaRY2846 What makes you think the Aroura has a manual transmission? It may have a manual gear selector on the shifter, but it is an Automatic, just like almost all American cars.
I saw a lady in one with a for sale sign in it getting on the freeway today. I wish i would have gotten the number. I really want one of these cars and you can't hardly find them for sale.
had a 97 with a 4.0 for my first car. i'm only 17 and unfortunately i had to sell it earlier this year. listen to him when he says to make sure its been properly maintained by the previous owner because mine wasn't, and i had to get rid of it cause i didn't have enough $ to fix it up.
When i was younger, my mom bought her 2003 aurora 4.0L used from a dealership, and our average MPGs are just about 13 right now. And i say "our" because ever since i was 5 years old i've spent at least half of my life in the aurora, first was a '99 then stepped up to an '03, and this aurora specifically (the '03) is apart of my life and my heart. I love aurora's as if they were my own child (sounds kinda wierd i know).
I plan on buying it from her when the times comes for it to be paid off which shouldn't be to far in the future. I love auroras more than the japanese love their tuner cars. I would take an aurora over a rolls royce any day. why? Because i plan on building the first aurora too be featured on the cover of more than one car magazine, and i hope that at least a few aurora fanatics will support me in this build. Much love for the aurora.
Just make sure the previous owner kept up on the maintenance because they will last a long time if properly maintained. By the way you will get the looks it comes equiped with the car lol. I have owned them for 15 great years. Enjoy your Aurora.
@Myaurora2001 i just bought a 2001 olds bravada fully loaded 101,000 3G's straight over the top, every feature including the sunroof i love oldsmobiles and this is my 2nd bravada and im 18! olds 4 LIFE
They are truely great unappreciated cars. Both of mine are very safe and reliable. But on the 2nd generation Aurora is there is a design flaw with the rear windows regulator that gets all tangled up and no longer works. Other than that a great car. They are a steal of a price now. So take your time to find a perfect used one. Ask me any questions you have or visit the ACNA website for Aurora enthusiast and owners.
i have never seen the inside of the 2nd gen. wow, so much different. i have a 1st gen. it looks and sounds great. although, that chime is really annoying compared to the older one i must say lol.
the v8 is still faster, but the v6 is powerful for what it is. I get just about 2 miles in town more compared to the 95 which I have owned for over 14 years. Olds lives on!
My 2001 just got 31 on the highway babying it at 90 kilos but only dropped to around 28 mpg doing 115 kilos for a hundred miles.I think thats damn good for the 4.0 I've gone through sensors both oxy(twice) and fuel but other than thats it's been reliable too.
my 2001 3.5 is now getting 22.2 mpg, IM not stomping on the gas like I use to that might be it. Yes it is a great car, they both are amazing and very beloved cars. Dedication goes to Oldsmobile.
I really love these cars. I never actually had a chance to own one but have always thought these cars were very cool and a head of their time. To bad they don't make them anymore.
you know theres lot of great gm cars today but hardly any made like the aurora. i mean evne the new g8 doesnt compare luxury wise. i dont even know if a fully loaded lucerne could match it.
I'M glad you love your Aurora because I love them too. They are my favorite car and they are just unappreciative. Also to add the Silhouette minivan won the most reliable van on the market. I have always loved Oldsmobile's, they are the best automaker in the world. Aurora's represent America well, just take good care of these cars and they will return your favor back.
Well I am going to have to disagree with that, my Aurora's are so reliable, luxurious, style, innovative, performance, handling and very well advanced. My 95 has never had any major repairs just regular maintenanceand still in perfect condition. But 1 thing is that I'am proud of Oldsmobile and they make good great quality cars that last for a lifetime.
Hey mine has been running 27 years now. It is such a shame they had to shut down Oldsmobile. I learned to drive in an Oldsmobile and I still drive an Oldsmobile. If they wanted to give one of their brands the axe why not kill Saturn? Saturn is never going to come near having the heritage Oldsmobile did. Other than that I have to say I always liked the first gen. aurora's better. They always looked more slick to me (especially the styling on the back end). Keep driving that Oldsmobile!
27 years is a long time but that is great Oldsmobiles last that long. I actually got my Aurora when I was 16 years old in 1994, my dad bought it for me. I own 3 Oldsmobiles, and could not be any happier. I agree 100% with you on Saturn, they mean nothing and are just crappy junky cars. Oldsmobile did so much for us in the world it was dumb of GM to get rid of Oldsmobile, they have won so many awards it is sickening to see they are no longer in operations.Saturn and Pontiac should have been disc.
Sorry to hear about that, I love these cars. It has been really reliable and no problems with it. I have owned them for over 14 years and are the best. Own a 95 and a 2001. Still going strong.
used to have this car. electrical problems galore, and the engine died within 3 years of normal driving. GM Corporate offered me a brand new one in 2004 and i said no way and i bought a lexus GS.

why i love my 4.0 01.
best car ever made period
i heard gm was thinking of briging olds back
but at todays prices a new aurora would cost atleast 40k
thinking when they were new they were 30-35k brand new.
GM shut down olds right when the aurora won multiple awards, the bravada won most reliable suv.
its sad but maybe it explains why GM is in the negative
