Look at my profile and guess which side! Did I say he sounds American? There are just a couple of twangs in his VO that are not from your old-school plummy BBC voice, that's all.
i remember being in my junior school tv room before watching look and read and when these dots came up we pretended to shoot the dots off the screen with pretend guns!! our teacher thought we were bonkers!! lol
This is an edit of the original 5.20 min version from the album Ruby by Ruby aka Tom Fogerty and the gang. It's from around 1976. The remix was done a few years later and can be found on the CD 'Precious Gems / Deal It Out' by Tom Fogerty & Ruby. I will try and post the full version soon. Watch out!!!!
Wow I remember the dots and this tune back in late 77/ early 78 and thinking this was an improvement on the BBCs previous schools idents, which were somewhat sterile for the 70s, Bart is a feelgood guilty pleasure.

As kids we would make loud bleeping noises in anticipation of the deletion of each dot, much to the annoyance of our teachers.

The music sounds like it was an out-take from 'Jeff Waynes' Musical Version of The War of the Worlds'.

The announcer is a BBC South regional announcer - how odd

There's something about that guy's voice suggesting he might have connections on the other side of the Atlantic, don't you think?
timonline2000 3 years ago
Which side of the Atlantic? This announcer is British, I don't think he's French, Portuguese, or Irish. (So, erm.. you think he sounds American??)
