  • i love this tokyo series and speaking of vending machines i always wondered who owns them? do stores own them or the government what???

  • well - it's not the Govt, altho I'm sure they wished they did. It's vending machine companies - there are so many machines in Japan, that whole companies do nothing else besides set up, restock and service vending machines.

  • Philly cheesesteak?!?! Ok, dude, I have to go there. Being a proud Philadelphia guy, I *need* to know what a cheesesteak in Japan tastes like. What did you think, and how expensive was it?

Also, I wish I could have told you beforehand, but the Don Quixote stores (of which there is a huge one in Shibuya) have all kinds of American soda, like Root Beer, Dr. Pepper, and CHERRY COKE 8D

  • Well, the cheesesteak wasn't the best, but any kind of meat sandwich is rare in Shimane, so I enjoyed it.

I think it was about 1600yen with fries.

I would have brought more DP home with me, but I was worried that they wouldn't let me on the plane with it.

  • I looove Dr. Pepper. I guess I'll have to stock up in Tokyo before I go wherever I'm sent.

  • A Tower Records with 7 floors? That must have been something. Sever floors? For REAL? LOL Only in Tokyo, right? How interesting!

  • So how was your trip to Akiba?did you filmed?Did you visited a Gamers store?i hope that Mac piece wasn't too expensive.

  • I love Dr.Pepper

  • Trains stop at midnight and don't start up till about 5am.

Anyway, I love the cities at night all the bright lights and signs almost as if they're beckoning you.

  • oh man... i used to go to that tower records all the time :)

glad to see you are having a good time in Tokyo!

  • I'd love a burger from TGIF's right now!

  • mmm philly cheese steak.. nice to see it is available somewhere over there. great seeing the sightseeing with you, Jason.

  • Heh, yep, that's Korean. Even the shoes sound Korean.

Trippy seeing you in that neighborhood. I walk through all the time.

  • I saw some signs in the Tower records that said all the floors are closing except the first floor - but I couldn't read enough to know whether it was just one day, for like inventory, or permanent.

Shame if the book/magazine floor closes, since it was really well stocked.

  • Hmmm, I Googled around for Tower Records Shibuya news in Japanese, and all I could find was that the Care Bears were appearing there today.

Thanks for the note, I'll drop by and double check.

  • I think Jason might be addicted to the city! Sounds like you're having a blast. Just wondering, ever figure out what you're going to be doing at the end of your 5th year? I hope you intend on staying in Japan. You're one of the best Japan vloggers out there, I would really hate to see you fly back to the states. Perhaps that's really selfish of me. Sorry, lol. Keep up the good work!

  • well if you have a good job for me here in Japan, let me know! :)

I'll be making vlogs about my post-JET plans in May or June

  • I knew I heard Korean in the beginning of the video :) You were correct sir :D

Tokyo, oh, Tokyo, the city of dreams.

  • I don't know if you were planning to go there but I highly reccomend Odaiba. OR if you want to see all of Tokyo from a really high Tower Check out Sunshine city 60 floor Tower. Which will give you a 360 degrees look at Tokyo. Anyway enjoy.

  • cool - noted for next trip

  • Yeah, that's Korean.

  • In U.S., Tower is extinct, they closed down all the stores a couple of years ago though they are still alive as a shopping site. Japanese Tower survived because their ownership and the right to use the Logo had been sold to a Japanese company a few years before their extinction in U.S. So keep your Tower bag, you are not gonna see them when you come home.

  • really? wow! I'm sure so many things have changed in the States in my 5 year absence. thanks for the info.

  • Those people who passed were definitely Korean. Nothing beats strolling through Tokyo late at night and having late dinners. Perhaps, maybe you could try a cheap beef bowl at a local Matsuya or Sukiya next time, which open til late as well!

  • awesome vid

  • thanks! more on the way!

  • Nice little vlog. That is a lot of money for what you ate. LOL! Was it as good as you had hoped?

    -Billy-

  • well I also had drinks and dessert. :)

And unlike most restaurants here, at TGIF they added a 10% service charge. Usually there is no tipping in Japan.
