@54eriks Sir, just like evolution is a graduate process, aging is. It works fine as a metaphor. The definition of different species is in general when they cant procreate with each others. This line is often quite vague, and sometimes it is possible to get an offspring, but a sterile one. We still debate whether many species are supposed to count as separate species or subspecies, simply because there are no strict lines between one specie and another.
