  • HOOOLY JUMPIN' JESUS! Ohhhhh SHIT my sides hurt from laughing. I so needed this today....GOOD STUFF and a massive honkin' Thumbs Up for a "shockingly" good laugh.

  • At 3:40 you can see that the fuse blew right by the transformer.

  • I see it

  • a long time ago at my old house a squirrel made a transformer explode and knocked out the power

  • last night A TRANSFORMER BLEW UP 5 TIMES. god was i scared. AND THE POWER BOX (where the eltricity is stored) FELL AND SET A TREE ON FIRE

  • i can see the smoke and btw last night and exploded 5 TIMES. god was i was scared

  • I was expecting a bleve after I read the title. O well no transformer exploding here. Just another cutout opening.

  • its incredibly hard to cause the line to fall. Last time when hurricanes came in the local grid had several poles with the top snapped off the leaning pole with everything else still attached. Transformers aren't so lucky... some was dropped but most clinged on

  • oh, its safe.

    ZAP!

  • That happens to me and that sound is terrifying. Especially when you do not know what is is.

  • HOLY JUMPING JESUS! LOL!

  • this happened in front of my house thanks to hurricane Irene, getting power from a honda generator.

  • the fuse blew not the transformer actually

    watch the fuse

  • 2:14 Your laugh sounds like Pee Wee Herman

  • loooks luk a fire up here in kunoooksville... evun the poool is un fire.... un the smell tooooo......

  • The transformer wasn't involved in this at all. The tree knocked a primary line off its insulator and it was laying on the crossarm burning the wood. Eventually the frame built up enough to create a plasma which causes a flashover to the pole ground. That blew the line fuse opening the circuit.

  • your voice automaticly makes this video worth watching. you sound like a skater

  • its the fuse thats blown dude look at the stick up left thats the fuse

  • yummie:P

  • HOLY JUMPING JESUS

  • WOW, do you know how many video's there are of transformers NOT exploding? Yours is just another one. Did you even watch your own video? Do you know what a transformer is? Do you know what an explosion is?

  • In the words of Bill Cosby, "ZIP ZAP BOOMITY BOOM!"

  • *voice cracks* DID THAT FUCKIN LOOK SAFE?!? lmao, perfect timing

  • *voice cracks* DID THAT FUCKIN LOOK SAFE?!? lmao

  • The transformer isn't on fire either, the wood of the utility pole is on fire where it is contacting the output tap. Ceramic insulators and wiring and steel case of the transformer, yea, not really flammable.

  • Nah dude. It was a short. If it exploded you would have more views, they light up the sky like daytime in purple and green and sometimes blue light when they fail. What you're seeing is a 25kv line shorting to ground and/or contacting another phase. Transformers have cooling oil, if it explodes usually the oil creates a bleve (google bleve), resulting in a huge fireball and actual flames.

Next time there's an electrical equipment issue, stay away from it, you could go blind from the arcing

  • phase on the arm

  • A nice definition of explosion I heard a while ago: An explosion is the rapid going away of things from one point, accompanied with a loud bang and big flash. Flash: present. Bang: present. Stuff flying away fast: present!

  • this video sux!

  • @GrantLogan2 go film a fucking better one then, dumbass.

  • great video i love your reactions

  • Notice the fuse to the left of the transformer in the beginning is up, then after the explosion, it blows and then hangs downwards.

  • holy jumping jesus wtf lolol

  • HAHAHAHA I love how the dude isn't like OH SHIT or FUCK!!!! Hes just like WOW!!!!

  • 25 minutes of film?

  • @parab121

yeah, I only had 25 minutes left on my sd card on my camera

  • There is no exploding. Fail.

    - A

  • @ibook133 Realizing that the title is just to get views. Fail....

  • Thinking that's actually clever. Fail

  • @ibook133 there was an explosion...thats what happens when a transformer explodes

  • @ibook133 And the shower of sparks and flame was what then? A trick of light? That shit blew up. Trust me, I was there. I took the video.

  • @ibook133 Attention Whore

  • LOL JUMPIN JESUS

  • all i see is smoke too!

    "smells like...burning electricity!"

  • lol it blew the cutout. then it shorted for a bit and sparked big. i bet the power company just loved that. BZZZTTT. does that look F**ing safe? BZZZTTTTT

  • 1:17 wow

  • The explosion was the high voltage breaker blowing. They have gunpowder in them to make sure that the fuse blows clear and doesn't leave the power connected by accident.

  • @nik282000

    Gunpowder? LOL

The explosion you hear is the fuse burning into and the electrical high voltage arc shooting across the open fuse element. When the fuse burns open, it causes the fuse link to burn into and the cutout door to drop and thus indicating an open fuse.

No gunpowder, just sounds like it when that arc shoots across the open fuse link in the cutout door tube.

  • Was Michael J. Fox holding the camera here?

  • dude this happened at my school cuz my teacher kicked the soccer ball and it hit 2 wires and made them touch and there was a bigger explosion than this and it was like 3 gunshots but just louder

  • no its not KABOOM GEZAAAT 1 in a mill bro

  • That was cool, and so was the still shot! I love the suspense before shit blows up lol

  • What's really cool, is seeing them BLOW UP. Metal and fire everywhere. (:

  • at least its safe.

    No its not.

    ah hahahahahhahhaaaBOOOOM!

  • but hey, its safe...

    BOOM!

    did that f**kin look safe?!?

    roflmfao^^

  • But hey, you know it's safe.

    No it's not!

    BOOM! ROFL.

  • ahahaha sooooo good. HOOOOOOLY JUMPIN JESUS

  • PoCo as in port coquitlam??

  • @lowrider5140

    yeah, right beside Kway.

  • The second explosion is either backfeed or (i can barely see) the debris on top of the primaries causing a arc blast.

  • yep first one blew fuse, second looks like debris grounding out and arcing. all good just clear out debris and put fuse back in all good.

  • The explosion you see is not the transformer, it is the fused cut out clearing the faulted transformer and stopping it from causing a BLEVE (since its mineral oil insulated)

  • Q: Why are transformers built up in cans?

    A: because it's cheap.

Q: ah.. Is that safe ??

A: really a lot safe.... *BAAAAAANGG*.. (smoketrails came up...)

    Q: Safe..... I see....LOL

  • XD XD HOLY JUMPING JESUS! XD XD

  • looks like it was the fuse.

  • i word PIMP!!!

  • One thing I would stress and warn, those cans have a hazardous chemical coolant that keeps them cool, and when transformers like this smoke,it's best to try to keep from inhaling the fumes.. :)

  • wtf. i did not see one robot in disguise.

  • Is F**K your favorite word?

  • that second explosion was awesome. if i saw this near my house is just sit on my porch and film it no matter how long it takes

  • cool

  • The line wire was knocked off it's insulator so current was flowing down the pole to the grounded transformer can.

  • DUDE!!! lamo

  • ahh

  • poor transformer=(

  • what exactly does burning electricity smell like?

  • pause at 2:20 theres a white figure in a shape of a person GHOST????? i am not sure

  • thats not the cross arm on fire there. that was a fault from the insulator on the can. then the fuse blew, im surprised it took that long.

  • transformer did not explode....the tree knocked the conductor off of the insulator and the burning was the crossarm and the pole ground burning...the 7kV flash was from the conductor to ground contact through the pole

  • Its a great idea to unplug everything in your house and shut off your main breaker if you see this happening close to your house.

  • You see the fuse blow on the 1st explosion, it's to the left above the transformer a bit.

  • if the transformer smells good, take a bite of it

  • heads up thats oil burning

  • "HOLY JUMPING JESUS!" I lol'd, nice vid.

  • very good video, something similar happened last night in my neighborhood and we ran out of energy, was a tremendous explosion.

    greetings

  • Holy shit! Love the still!

  • HOOOOLY JUUUUUMPING JESUS!! AHAUHAUHUAHUAHUAUHAUHAUHAUHUA! Cool video anyway :D

  • i have always wanted to see something like that it's better than school XD

    cooooooooooolnesssssssssss

    fave ^_^ 5/5

  • Good Vidd

  • Broo Best Vidd Ever Dudesss I Bet U Guyz Took A S***

    Lmao Best Vid Ever 5Starz

  • holy jumping jesus! lol!

  • Damn cool vid.. love dramatic situations like that :)

  • They have to be careful around some , of the older transformers , because they use PCPs for cooling oil .

  • haha thats awesome! just like fireworks!

  • I paused at the ground arc. amazing.

  • BOOM.

  • you talked so fucking funny, and these marks on the bvid they are so fucking funny ^^

"yes it does, it smells like burning electricity!" ^^

you know my camera cant see this but i can, man i like you ^^

  • Holy shit!! I wish the transformer up the road here would do that XD

  • Holy crap that was intense!!

  • Youtube misses it, but on the original recording you can freeze frame just before the second explosion and get the grounding arc... it's an impressive thing.
