Whaling is seen as illegal by many nations, every year Japan whales in the name of "research" despite having nations condemn their actions and stating that a nonlethal approach towards whale research should be taken. In 2010 Japan set out to whale 1050 whales worth 337,500,000. Those whales included 50 endangered humpback whales. I feel sorry for anyone sick minded enough to eat the meat of such an amazing creature. I am proud that people such as Sea Shepherd defend these giants of the sea.

I read recently that there is scientific proof that whales have been communicating the history of their lives to their offspring. What other lifeform on Earth does that? Just us humans. This means when we kill whales we are also affecting the knowledge of future generations of whales. If we ever reach a point where we can understand and translate whale language, we're going to feel very sorry for what we did to them. Only then may more of us realize the genocide we humans have committed.

im not sure im comfortable with the idea of eating something potentially as intelligent as i am. To me, eating a whale is the same as eating an orangutan, or a dolphin.
