@SuperYellow1989 I don't think it was meant to take away anyone's sadness. The poet was just registering her disbelief that anyone ever could be sad when someone so wonderful existed. Which is a lovely thought. I think.
@irememberjeep yeh after i listened to it a second time i think i heard it wrong the first time.
i didnt hear the line at the end "im in very grave danger of a change of heart" so i thought the "im in every kind of trouble now" stuff was random, but it makes sense now.
Fuck you Bush It's time to get out of Iraq, Bush What were you even doing there in the first place?, Bush You didn't even get properly elected, Bush Are you happy now?, Bush Fuck you, Bush
I caught some of this programme tonight. It has to be said, his choice of poets was sublime in that Phillip Larkin and CS Lewis are two poets who convey geography and matter as more certain than life, in the most profound and insightful ways.
If the earth were to survive a few million more years our dead bodies could become bio-fuel. That as an idea is banal. For two poets such as Larkin and Lewis to be so masterful in adding majesty and beauty to this idea, is beyond compliment.
I thought the whole programme was brilliant. Robert Webis a very funny guy and I love his comedy shows, but he came across in this programme as a sensitive kindly very intelligent thoughtful character. He also he has a way of putting things across which would make him a brilliant teacher. Well Done Robert-that was excellent-why dont you do more stuff like this?

Where's my comment gone? I looked could'nt find it ! I would'nt have thought it would have caused so much disquiet amongst youtube viewers. Clearly I was wrong. So here goes agaiI thought the poem wasn't well written (Which shouldn't matter, but it does) and I thought it was saccharin, and overblown, bordering on obsessive. thank you Modeu 2 for your kind words. (By the way I love romance and true love as much as the next person, just my honest opinion)
THAT IS THE MOST ROMANTIC AND ADORABLE THING EVER. He must be an amazing man, actually, which is weird because I'd started to think he was a bit of a twat...
I missed the first half of this programme. Is there any chance of uploading all of this programme. Would be so grateful. I was also blown away by The Love Song of J Alfred Prufrock at seventeen.
I can't even begin to say how brilliant this programme was, it totally opened my eyes to poetry and I now have an urge to read more T.S Elliot, I hope I get to study it in my A Level course. It was just a fantastic programme, I completely loved it! =D

I really like Robert Webb, (As a performer, I don't know him) and I'm sure his wife is a lovely person but writing that poem (Which isn't very good) after 3 weeks into a relationship makes her sound like a bunny boiler
I agree. Sorry to the one person who dissed your comment and gave it a thumbs down. I think I'd freak out if someone wrote that to me after three weeks.
If they both felt the same about each other and obviously they really fell for each other then they didn't have to have any pre-concieved notions bunny boiler-ness (clearly not a proper word but you know what I mean). Obviously he felt the same cuz he married her.
All sense of romance is clearly dead in some people lol.
I've been with my partner for ten years and the romance in our relationship is very much alive and well. All I mentioned is that I agreed with the previous comment and said I personally would find it creepy if someone had sent that to me after three weeks of dating. Lets not forget, this poem went on to say about putting razor blades away, because she'd found her man. Clearly, it worked for them both because they wed. Crikey it seems you can't comment these days without being judged incorrectly!
Well, I think the razor blades bit was dramatic licence and it was done in a way to give the reader hope. Don't think she was saying that she was suicidal and then suddenly a man became her resen d'etre. And all I was saying was that just because you would be creeped out does not necessarily mean that it is creepy, that is just your interpretatiion. He prob wouldn't have read it out if he found it weird. Anyway it is irrelevant, I quite like the poem.
Lol, is this Robert Webb hiding behind a pseudonym ? I'm not getting into this again. I never said what you implied and I'm thrilled you like the poem.
yes, he's on Twitter and he said the baby (a daughter) is due in June. And in bed at night Abigail was being kicked in the cervix! By the baby, I mean, not Rob!
Really, that soon? I only found out that she was pregnant about 3 weeks ago! Well good luck to the pair of them, I know they will both be wonderful parents.
Sorry no poems r just shit. Always have been always will be.
