  • Sorry no poems r just shit. Always have been always will be.

  • I never could take him seriously after Peep Show

  • Oh, thank god you married her I was almost gonna fall off my seat with sadness.

  • I smiled and nearly cried, very nice.

    I'm a big wuss.

  • i was waiting for him to come out with something funny but this was sweet, im all a

    flush !

  • That ending line of his was like the ending of Jane Eyre - "Reader, I married him"

  • @difdrummer Yes, the fact he just quoted Jane Eyre made him 10 times more awesome in my eyes

  • God, I'd forgotten how much I love this.

  • That was so sweet...it actually made me tear up a bit. He's quite lovely actually.

  • I know abigail burdess :) She's my mum's friend!

  • i KNEW that was his wife when they were together on that mitchel and webb look... the baby gave it away :P

  • Aww how sweet and lovely!!!

  • i dont like the line "lock up your razors save your lovely wrists", its so wishy washy.

a nice little poem isnt going to take away all your sadness .

  • @SuperYellow1989 I don't think it was meant to take away anyone's sadness. The poet was just registering her disbelief that anyone ever could be sad when someone so wonderful existed. Which is a lovely thought. I think.

  • @irememberjeep yeh after i listened to it a second time i think i heard it wrong the first time.

i didnt hear the line at the end "im in very grave danger of a change of heart" so i thought the "im in every kind of trouble now" stuff was random, but it makes sense now.

  • @SuperYellow1989 lol agreed.

  • That was beautiful!!! You and Abigail rock, RW!! Brilliant, Mate!

  • This is a gorgeous poem. He sort of had to marry her after that. Really enjoyed the programme as well - I love all the other poems he picked

  • That was properly amazing. Kudos to Mrs Webb.

  • That is so beautiful <3

  • Aww that was so sweet, and really good symbolism and verse too. It really shames the poetry i wrote for my girlfriend on her 18th birthday!

  • 1990ricky1990 Nice reference. "It's too hot the boiler is too HOT! Obey my commands zorak!"

  • WKaliberr Could always flip a coin, best of three? Best of five? No the coin has spoken. The coin isn't exaclty the judge of me Jez. ;)

  • This poem is incredible - Abigail is so talented and now Robert and Abigail are proud parents of a little girl called Esme.

  • shit, he had to marry her after that poem

  • beautiful.

  • That was so good.. like professional poetry if there is such a thing. I so wish I could write poetry.

  • I laughed for about twenty minutes when that came on. Pure comedy genius!

  • I like how the last line is the same as the first line

  • yeah i did that in purpose

  • @Jko90 LOL

  • @Jko90 Now that is proper poetry :'-)

  • beautiful!

  • This is so sweet! I'd love to see the full episode. Could someone upload it please?

  • I caught some of this programme tonight. It has to be said, his choice of poets was sublime in that Phillip Larkin and CS Lewis are two poets who convey geography and matter as more certain than life, in the most profound and insightful ways.

If the earth were to survive a few million more years our dead bodies could become bio-fuel. That as an idea is banal. For two poets such as Larkin and Lewis to be so masterful in adding majesty and beauty to this idea, is beyond compliment.

  • Absolutely beautiful.

    Who says romance is dead?

  • Beautiful, and somehow makes me love him a little more!

  • That poem is worth a engagement alone, magnanimous.

  • Beautiful

  • Absolutely lovely

  • i missed it im so dissapointed i didn't know it was on :(

if anyone knows where i can find it please let me know. its not on i player anymore!

lovely poem robert webb is great and what a lovely wedding photo goodluck to them with their baby :)

  • i've got into a habit of learning poems as i lie sleepless beside me wife........

this is my next one, thought it was superb. Thanks for the video......

  • i would say the same about him if i could write poetry with such resonance

  • Beautiful

It meant a lot to my wife and me

  • this made me cry a bit when i saw it on tv. lovely.

  • I thought the whole programme was brilliant. Robert Webis a very funny guy and I love his comedy shows, but he came across in this programme as a sensitive kindly very intelligent thoughtful character. He also he has a way of putting things across which would make him a brilliant teacher. Well Done Robert-that was excellent-why dont you do more stuff like this?

  • If you knew and understood romance, the word 'overblown' wouldn't appear in your vocabulary

  • cannot get bbc i player over here, so would be grateful if someone could upload.

    thanks

  • Check out UK Nova, they have a lot of British telly programs available for d/l.

  • THAT IS THE MOST ROMANTIC AND ADORABLE THING EVER. He must be an amazing man, actually, which is weird because I'd started to think he was a bit of a twat...

  • what made you think he was a twat? he's always come across really well when ive seen him in non acting stuff

  • I missed the first half of this programme. Is there any chance of uploading all of this programme. Would be so grateful. I was also blown away by The Love Song of J Alfred Prufrock at seventeen.

  • The whole show will be on the BBC iplayer for a few more days.

  • It's available to d/l from Uk Nova.

  • Can anyone find this poem as text?

  • Wow, that's a really good poem. I mean, I like poems, but I kinda expected it to be all gooey. But it wasn't, it was clever.

  • I can't even begin to say how brilliant this programme was, it totally opened my eyes to poetry and I now have an urge to read more T.S Elliot, I hope I get to study it in my A Level course. It was just a fantastic programme, I completely loved it! =D

  • Beautiful :D

  • Mind, I didn't use any punctuation! So what do I know?

  • I agree. Sorry to the one person who dissed your comment and gave it a thumbs down. I think I'd freak out if someone wrote that to me after three weeks.

  • If they both felt the same about each other and obviously they really fell for each other then they didn't have to have any pre-concieved notions bunny boiler-ness (clearly not a proper word but you know what I mean). Obviously he felt the same cuz he married her.

All sense of romance is clearly dead in some people lol.

  • I've been with my partner for ten years and the romance in our relationship is very much alive and well. All I mentioned is that I agreed with the previous comment and said I personally would find it creepy if someone had sent that to me after three weeks of dating. Lets not forget, this poem went on to say about putting razor blades away, because she'd found her man. Clearly, it worked for them both because they wed. Crikey it seems you can't comment these days without being judged incorrectly!

  • Well, I think the razor blades bit was dramatic licence and it was done in a way to give the reader hope. Don't think she was saying that she was suicidal and then suddenly a man became her resen d'etre. And all I was saying was that just because you would be creeped out does not necessarily mean that it is creepy, that is just your interpretatiion. He prob wouldn't have read it out if he found it weird. Anyway it is irrelevant, I quite like the poem.

  • Lol, is this Robert Webb hiding behind a pseudonym ? I'm not getting into this again. I never said what you implied and I'm thrilled you like the poem.

  • thats a really good poem :D

  • That is so romantic :)

  • What a beautiful poem. She's very talented.

  • yes, he's on Twitter and he said the baby (a daughter) is due in June. And in bed at night Abigail was being kicked in the cervix! By the baby, I mean, not Rob!

  • Oh bless! And their first baby is due this month. :)

  • Really, that soon? I only found out that she was pregnant about 3 weeks ago! Well good luck to the pair of them, I know they will both be wonderful parents.

  • I only found out today that she was pregnant. haha. :)

  • Reader... I MARRIED HER

  • That is all kinds of adorable! It makes you feel a bit weepy.

Very, very romantic, I hope Rob knows how lucky he is!

  • Lovely

  • : )

  • that gets an excellent just cos they got married. so romantic.

  • robert webb is a lucky man

  • Great reading... need to breath more though! The smoking room was amazing. Miss that programme. Kind regards,
