The way he is singing "wroooooooo-oh-oh-ohng....."(0:24) is just off the chart. You know he must be flying above the clouds singing that at that moment. It's completely charged with energy. He does this at certain points throughout this song with particular single words. He draws the word out in such an incredible way.
Relistening to these songs,... they're first two albums were so spot on great. I know they were great live but it must have been hard to meet the near perfection of the first 2 albums. Although Mackeys Nightlife album was fantastic.
The guitar work is unreal. The way M. Feary worked the lyrics to the flow of the music is marvelously entertaining to listen to. A pure "10". The thing is just magic, flawless perfection.
These were da best days in Hawaii. I hope Mackey knows how he made it that way for all of us. The music he created and the sound he generated marks an era that people today long so so much for again. Thanks Mackey... Kalapana!
What can be said, it is a timeless musical genre that will bless every person's ear who visits Hawaii, this music defines our lives here in these islands and our attitudes towards life.
The whole thing is just fabulous beyond the wildest dreams. It swings, it's groovie, it's TAPESTRY of sound. The beat moves. The guitar work is fabulous. The bass player is happening. The flow is ridiculously beautiful. The bridge(starting at 2:19) is just awesome. The lead vocalist is marvelous. He was so ultra talented; singer, songwriter, arranger, composer, guitarist. THIS is music!
