  • Okay, I need this as my pet. No need to have a dog or cat. This one doesn't poop you know.

  • they need to make a slow loris one

  • iv just seen oen of these on ebay and its like 5 grand ouch para robots seal healing pets their called you could but a real seal pup probely for that but if win the lottery ill buy thise sealbot

  • awww omg i want him sooooo cute

  • the Simpsons just did a whole episode with this seal pup thingie!

  • @ferchoandres i saw that episode i was like omg those things are real:-)!

  • The Paro were created by man

    They rebelled.

    They evolved.

    They look

    And Feel

    Seal.

Some are programmed to think they are seals.

    There are many copies

    And they have a plan.

  • @CapyGuy ahahah battlestar galactica ? :)

  • Every human over the earth is vulnerable to connect emotionaly with a robot, though a lot say that not, that show us what important is the external appearance, of course not if you are a canadian seal hunter jaja.

  • That's going to be the only harp seals left once all the real ones are killed off :/

  • @GoodNightyNight sadly you could be right

  • I actually think this is terrifying

    THE EYELASHES

  • The most amazing part in my opinion is that it can maintain eye contact by sensing where your voice is coming from

  • but, but... Paro told me to do it...

  • Get a dog/cat.

  • Still doesn't explain why they're using a robo seal instead of a robo dog or cat... or any animal that could realistically be a pet

  • @MsUVA1988 It's because people don't have preconceived feelings towards a seal. It's a neutral animal, whereas there are a lot of people who don't like dogs or don't like cats.

  • @MsUVA1988 because people knows the behavior and movements of a dog or a cat, the people will behind to compare the robot dog or the robot cat with the real ones. As the creators want to replace a pet they need this looks as real as possible, as most of people don't know how scream a baby seal, how it moves, how is their behavior then is more credible and people can't compare with nothing.

  • I NEED THERAPY.

  • Guys you know this is for therapy?because you know this costs a lot but at toy stores you can get a wowwee robot animal!it's soft and fluffy but is also a robot and you can pet it too and sleep with it.they also have a seal pup just like paro. And it's like under the cost paro is like 40 or 60$ or maybe even cheaper!

  • If you're supposed to use these seals to help people get a better grasp on reality, why not a dog or cat, something that it might actually be plausible for the people to have with them... Unless you're going to drop off a kiddie pool full of water and some dead fish too...

  • @MsUVA1988 There are people who have severe allergies to real animals, or where they live they aren't allowed to have pets. Such an invention as this is helpful for them.

  • Omg that's sooo cute I want one

  • its so fluffy

  • ooooooooooh he is hungry lol

    so cute

  • hey maybe they can club these ones instead if the real ones. They have no regard for defenceless baby seals any way so they won't be able to tell the difference between whats a robot and whats actually alive and can feel pain.

  • they are 5000 dollars each, wtf

  • @comedyismybff no, it is in yen. so that would be 500 dollars.

  • super cute!

  • I want one! :)

  • how many does it cost?? thts soo cute!! n cool!

  • @partOFthisWORLD

I have to pay at least five thousand dollars for one. It is meant to be a medical tool for patients who cannot be trusted with therapy animals.

  • i want 1

  • someone's got a baseballbat?

  • jajajjajaa ajajajajaja jajajajjaja cool

  • @polarkreis201 you're ugly and fat i bet.....

  • (^^^)

  • i want one!

  • never thought i'd see a huggable robot! XD

  • that's adorable

  • why is it so expensive>?

  • @kvnyng my guess is that hes like keepon, there hand made because the parts are ether tiny or delicate

  • Because he is intended as a "therapy" tool, and thus, a medical instrument, not for playing. which is a pity, because Id love to have such an adorable thing...

  • It's pretty complicated. Cameras in the eyes and sensors and whatnot.

  • wowwee has a seal pup that pretty much does the same thing for only $60

  • why is it named "therapy" seal?

  • how much it cost i will buy if it cost not 2000$ i will buy if it is lower

  • it actually cost $6000... we have one at my work

  • How about spending 10 dollars for a stuffed animal version of this, cut a hole in the ass, pull out half the stuffing, insert hand and make puppet move and mewl like this while saving $5, 990. Jesus, and people wonder why it costs so much to go to the hospital.

  • i want one D:

  • Well, you could probably use Paro as a sex toy if you were enough of a sick fuck.

  • why the fuck would i do that? thats just disgusting :s

  • Hence the "if you were a sick enough fuck" part of my comment.

  • Incredibly cute!! I want one. :-)

  • This is so cute! I would love to have one.

  • Make it able to talk and give it a very southern accent. I'll take 50.

  • I really want one!

Will they ever be available to the general public?

    How much would they cost?

    @w@

  • According to one of the assistants at a Japanese science museum, he says they cost about $300 and the battery power doesn't last too long. I'm not sure if that refers to this exact model of Paro or not though, but they do look the same.

  • I'm creeped out by the idea of people connecting w/ robots, even if this is cute as hell.

  • i love this !

  • But does it whine when you club it?

  • yes, really load! And it cries when you leave.. My university bought one of them and its very cute, but a bit of an attention whore ^^

  • ever seen the horse? it's nuts...follows you around the room with its eyes begs for attention like you say about this one lol...my buddies kid has one pushes against your hand when you pet it...to real.

  • Thats a evil thing to say!

  • That's very cute, I want those!

  • Pacifier as a charger... Clever!

  • so cute..pacifier charges paro..

  • Too cute..I want one..I wouldnt have to clean their poo now!!

  • i was in the hospital for a spinal cord injury and i wouldnt have wanted a robot seal i liked the real animals.

  • Why not just use a real therapy animal? If they wan't to use something weird like a seal, why not use a therapy sloth? Or a therapy pangolin or tortoise?

  • probly by the time they think of that there wont actually be any REAL ones left out there!!!

  • lol your funny...theres 9.2 million "REAL"ones ...

  • Now there's one seal pup that I would definitely NOT club under any circumstances!

  • The eyelashes kind of freak me out when it opens its eyes.

  • Ya estamos en el 2009 y la tecnologia sigue igual que en el 2000

  • cute! i wanna have these

  • LoL @Vince

  • it looks pretty stoned!

  • ayyyyyyyyyyy]!!!!! yo kiero unaaaaa!!!!!!!

  • a mi tambien!!!

  • that looks creepy as hell. what if they turn on you 1 day and start chewing your legs off lmao

  • doesnt look much different from those damn furbies... i think the furby looks more fun than this thing. whats so special about it? it moves so robotically.

  • I have a white cat.

Cheaper and it comes with an changing attitude, lol!

  • I want to get this for my mother, 70 years old, living alone. She needs an intelligent pet to accompany with her. Where can I get this?

  • it cost 500000円

  • intelligent ?? I think you're better of with a real cat for example ..

  • so cute!

  • Can it swim?

  • gud question
