The breed standard for most associations calls for a short muzzle and snub nose, thus Persians bred to that standard have a flat face. There are a few associations that recognize the longer nosed version as well, though these are usually called Traditional Longhair. Their appearance maintains the Persian look of the past, before most associations converted to the "extreme" look. Doll faced Persians are usually sold as pet Persians (one hopes) with no pretence of being a pedigree show cat.
