It seems you use the same bs 100pushups site like I did a year ago.
The sets there are way too hard. I did about 40 on my inital test. Week 5 says sets of 28, 35, 25, 22 AND ANOTHER SET TILL FAILURE ? I CAN'T DO 25 PUSHUPS AFTER 35 1 MIN LATER.At least after a year I can do more(50), but for those, who are still starting.
Make your own routine. If you can do 50, then each set should be 25 max(50% of your max) and since I am an Ectomorph(find out your own bodytype), 4 sets is the max for me.
Well executed pushups! I'm at 55 or so... but I never tried doing many push ups, normally I do like 35 with 20Kg backpack or 20 with my sister on my back. Guess I'm going to have to do 100 now ;) oh and military type with palm.
100 push ups is a realistic goal. my friend started out at 20 then did everday and night for all of our junior year and now he can do 107 max. just got to keep doing them even if your not seeing improvement.
@kalotatos9 you dont have to breath it depends on your lungs in how you breath a big misconception in the exercise world but not in chinese wushu culture everyones breath or chi is different
LOL I love all of your comments! YES I am not the strongest person in the world and YES Fist push-ups are much harder than palm push-ups, that is just the way I do them! To answer all your questions yes I did reach 100 but kind of cheating and resting in the up position for 2-3 seconds a few times toward the end. I found that 100 push-ups is not really realistic so I moved to other goals. For those of you that can do 100 good push-ups with good form you have accomplished a great feat!
locking out is just straining your elbow, if you do it your stupid and do understand your body and how it works. it also takes puts all the tension on your elbow joint/tricep, therefore actually is easier then if you kept the tension on your muscles. these were great pushups, did well, keep up the progress.
@eragon3196 but that hurts your wrists due to them not being in their normal position, but if you set something soft under your knuckles they're easier, but everyone does them different i guess :)
I think my internet is not fast enough to view your video slightly...I have 5 Mbit. It looks like your video is more than 2 years old. Did you manage to do 100 push-ups in 6 weeks after all?
I usually start with my hands shoulder width apart and do 30. Then I move my hands a couple inches closer to each other and do another 20. And then I finish off with 10 diamond push ups.
I find traditional pushs-ups slightly easier than nuckle push-ups. I can do 60 nuckles and about 65 ordinary. The 60-65 region seems to be a plateau for me.
@Dem0nicPanda No, who taught you that? Locking your arms means you no longer use the arm and chest muscles which is the main muscle group you are meant to be working when doing pushups. You are meant to almost lock them out but not quite
@larssonk22 Ive worked out for years and searched on it ALOT. And the main workouts i do are 1.Pushups 2.Situps 3.Jog. If you lock your arms out you have to go back down and up farther. Therefore working your chest and shoulders more. I always locked out my arms when i do pushups and nothing has happened from it. Other then getting stronger of course.
@Dem0nicPanda well sorry then you have been doing it wrong for years, example of bad information being passed around long enough that people believe it is true. How about this, put on your science hat and think about from a body mechanics stand point, what does locking out your arms do?
@larssonk22 The military only counts a push up when you start with your arms in the locked position, go down so the bicep of your arm is parallel with the ground, and then pushing yourself up again with your arms locked. If you don't, the push up doesn't count. It's not wrong. It's what the military classifies as a proper push up. You might disagree, but that's all on you.
you can do all them pushups to pump up ya chest, i got a twelve gauge mossberg, to pump up ya chest, have you gaspin for air after that shell hit ya vest
34 pushups are ok, look at your body what do you expect? stop this stupid pushup-shit and train your whole body in a gym then maybe in many years you have a good body but not from pushups....
I started the 100 pushup challenge last year (2010) using the ipod touch software. I got great results now that I can do 10 sets of 50 pushups at 35yrs of age. I got ripped arms that I now show off in my facebook page...
@HTFkills serously only 30 on abs will u will get better at it u just u need to push your self for me i was doing 25 or 30 -35 daily on abs than i pushed my self to do 800 abs in 1 day got to say all my body hurt me wheni moved after doing it but it sure helped me alottttttttttt
i have a question plz somebody answer im working on this formula but can somebody tell if its okay to lift weights while doing this because what if ill tire out my musles and ill break the whole chain up
@itzsoprano yeah it'd be wiser to focus on either strength (bench press) OR muscular endurance (push ups). you can always switch up whenever you want, but doing them together will impede the progress of both. still doing both is much better than nothing
My question is you weight 169 with 12.9 % body fat and youre higly active correct ? And all you can do is 34 push ups straight thats kind of sad if you ask me. I weigh 208 21% body fat and i can do 50 in a row.
i was a bit exhaused before i did my initial test.. but had 28 myself. just did week 3 day 1 column 3. made it through. will do day 2, 2morrow or the day after. i hope i can get 40+ in about 2 weeks :)
lol , 34 is exactly whay i set on my initial test and its also my age . Im at end of 2 weeks tomorrow and following it exactly as it says on my Android phone and resisting temptation to have a blast on rest days !
Listen, no matter how tired you are take you body out of the equation. Focus on maintaining your form and speed of your push ups. @XDarkxlegacyx /watch?v=qR9E3JDlEj8 <-- pushups like those don't count. I hope you know that. It's almost physically impossible to knock down 100 pushups in 60 seconds. You would have to do 1.6 FULL pushups every second ALL THE WAY THROUGH. Post a video. then maybe people would believe you.
i am 16, i am in my second week i hit 46 but i am confused about dieting at the moment i am just not eating any junk food and a lot of pasta, meat, potato's
I'm 158lbs, I usually do 120 reps with 5 sec recovery every 30 reps. This routine also consists of static crunches and chin ups. My upper body is huge! The abdominals are getting there too.
i like how u started counting push-ups when u were going up then it switched too every time u when down if u want to count the proper way begin in the front leaning rest position then u go down then up thats one ur supposed to count every time u r back in the front leaning rest position well according to the army thats how its done
I don't know what this program is, it could be to get you to do 100 pushups.... that is a guess, I find it easy to do two sets of pushups before i go to bed. 1st set do as many as you can, 2nd set do one more give yourself a couple of minutes of rest in between each set. No point in trying to do it right after and failing miserably.
Im 14 and i can only do 14 good form pushups.... im getting there, started doing pushups this summer coudnt even do 1 good form push then after cadet basic training ive been doing them ever since.
@serjiodiaz When burning fat your body pulls fat for all over your body, not just the location you are working... For this reason you can not "SPOT" reduce fat. Just keep up a good diet of a variety of healthy foods and that fat will melt away!
@serjiodiaz yeah i hav asked this question a number of times. diet and exercise is the answer---particularly cardio. if ur knees are up for high impact training a good run 3 days a week is probably the best thing.
The thing is, when you count yourself, you tend to stop short, or get tired near the end quicker, what you should try is to trick your mind, literally, it works man.
Do your max set without counting and vid it while focusing on breathing, at the end when you feel like quitting tell yourself "ten more" and count those ones. 1...2...3.. because it's such a small number your mind tends to assume it isn't much. When you count and get high, 51..52. Your mind thinks "HOW MANY MORE?" Give it a shot.
I have a tip, when doing a max set, have someone else keep count for you, and DONT keep count yourself. Just focus on your breathing. It normally adds 20-30 to your max set. I did 82 in my max set, but did 110 when I focused on breathing and had a friend count for me. It makes a huge difference. I'm only sixteen, and my goal is 120 in under two minutes. see if it makes a difference. Or video tape yourself, focus on breathing, and dont count, then count by watching the vid. See if it helps.
with pushups, the best way to increase your rep is by doing them on a daily basis. do 100 pushups a day not consecutivley but just 100 push ups in one session. i would do that and i got up to doing 85 push ups consecutively. push ups are probably the true test of someones strength because the more you can do its like the higher your strength to weight ratio is. thats how strength truly should be measured, based on your weight.
@AitutakianMMA I am maxing out at around 80-85 depending on the day. If I cheat I can do 100 but that is not helping me! But honestly most days I just do 50 - 75 in my normal workout... I mean I doubt I will ever need to do 100 in a row in real life :) but nice to know I can if I REALLY need to.
@EKmion I would say starting at 52 when you are 260lb is great! Just make sure you add some more moving to your workout. I bet if you got down to 200lb you could do 100 no problem!
@EKmion maybe you should try doin PROPER pushups and you will get nowhere near 52! 260 lbs at 15 is like morbidly obese, im sorry but 52 is a lie! its funny you can even claim 52 ahahaha :L! i doubt you could do 20 proper ones!
your supposed to start in the up position, lower, raise, and then count it. i noticed you started down, and that you counted reps at the bottom not top. but not bad. i started off doing 39, now i do 300 throughout everyday and within a month could crank out 55-60 pretty easy
@Thermometer10 Not really... I mean while I was trying to reach 100 I was also lifting weights so I think the body changes came more from heavy weights!
@dddoughboyyy It puts a lot of strain on your wrists, which aren't really made for that type of thing, your wrists are stronger when they're are even with your forearm (when your hands are balled into fists).
I finished the program and did 67 consecutive. They suggest stopping every 10 to rest but it just seemed to add to the soreness in my arms. Does anyone know why? I don't really have any problem with the pain, so maybe its that my chest is stronger than my arms.
ive been doing push ups all my life in fact i love doing them...i started the age of 9...im 17 now..umm i can do 75 push ups and im fat from stomach but arms are ripped....and it hurts but i do them in sets last time i went to 300 push ups in sets...im really strong but hope i can do 500 so wish me luck..=)
It seems you use the same bs 100pushups site like I did a year ago.

the most likely reason you can do so many is because you have very little mass
so you don't have to lift much with each push up
if you weighed more it would be a lot harder, hence push ups get harder to do as you get older and bigger

str94100 1 year ago
You don't do proper push-ups
You don't go all the way up. You are doing half push-ups to cheat your number count.
A proper push-up:
1. Go all the way down where you chin or chest briefly touches the ground.
2. Go all the way, where you arms almost lock and straighten out
3. Feet should be together.
Feet far apart is cheating.
Sojujinn 1 year ago
@Sojujinn Agreed but i would'nt suggest locking the elbows because it puts a lot of unnecessary strain on them.

I'm 158lbs, I usually do 120 reps with 5 sec recovery every 30 reps. This routine also consists of static crunches and chin ups. My upper body is huge! The abdominals are getting there too.

ekubalusabyan 1 year ago
i like how u started counting push-ups when u were going up then it switched too every time u when down if u want to count the proper way begin in the front leaning rest position then u go down then up thats one ur supposed to count every time u r back in the front leaning rest position well according to the army thats how its done
chaddk0127 1 year ago
To us rotc cadets you only did 17 (2 pushups is one) great job dude I cant wait to see you bust 100 pushups in 2 minutes!
killgates1 1 year ago
I don't know what this program is, it could be to get you to do 100 pushups.... that is a guess, I find it easy to do two sets of pushups before i go to bed. 1st set do as many as you can, 2nd set do one more give yourself a couple of minutes of rest in between each set. No point in trying to do it right after and failing miserably.

serjiodiaz 1 year ago
@serjiodiaz When burning fat your body pulls fat for all over your body, not just the location you are working... For this reason you can not "SPOT" reduce fat. Just keep up a good diet of a variety of healthy foods and that fat will melt away!
4TheWorldToC 1 year ago 7
@serjiodiaz yeah i hav asked this question a number of times. diet and exercise is the answer---particularly cardio. if ur knees are up for high impact training a good run 3 days a week is probably the best thing.
georgianna618 1 year ago
@serjiodiaz yea pushups would definently the more reps you can do the better results you will get, good luck!!

Your mind thinks "HOW MANY MORE?" Give it a shot.

very smart. I thought it was just me. haha. When I do like 20 reps in something and its hard for me, I do ten, then count to five, and five again.
geedunk13 11 months ago
@skilzfor0z yep that works for me
YAHOOISNOTG 9 months ago
I have a tip, when doing a max set, have someone else keep count for you, and DONT keep count yourself. Just focus on your breathing. It normally adds 20-30 to your max set. I did 82 in my max set, but did 110 when I focused on breathing and had a friend count for me. It makes a huge difference. I'm only sixteen, and my goal is 120 in under two minutes. see if it makes a difference. Or video tape yourself, focus on breathing, and dont count, then count by watching the vid. See if it helps.

Gazza30592 1 year ago
with pushups, the best way to increase your rep is by doing them on a daily basis. do 100 pushups a day not consecutivley but just 100 push ups in one session. i would do that and i got up to doing 85 push ups consecutively. push ups are probably the true test of someones strength because the more you can do its like the higher your strength to weight ratio is. thats how strength truly should be measured, based on your weight.

AitutakianMMA 1 year ago
@AitutakianMMA I am maxing out at around 80-85 depending on the day. If I cheat I can do 100 but that is not helping me! But honestly most days I just do 50 - 75 in my normal workout... I mean I doubt I will ever need to do 100 in a row in real life :) but nice to know I can if I REALLY need to.

EKmion 1 year ago
@EKmion I would say starting at 52 when you are 260lb is great! Just make sure you add some more moving to your workout. I bet if you got down to 200lb you could do 100 no problem!
4TheWorldToC 1 year ago
your right you cant see that im 6'2 and do alought of weight training also because that helps
EKmion 1 year ago
@EKmion HOLY SHIT DUDE if you got too 100 youde be a tank
AdangerousRETARD 1 year ago
@EKmion maybe you should try doin PROPER pushups and you will get nowhere near 52! 260 lbs at 15 is like morbidly obese, im sorry but 52 is a lie! its funny you can even claim 52 ahahaha :L! i doubt you could do 20 proper ones!

I can do 50 push ups (I do them slowly and I go all the way down) and I am 14 is that good or bad
yidox4 1 year ago
your supposed to start in the up position, lower, raise, and then count it. i noticed you started down, and that you counted reps at the bottom not top. but not bad. i started off doing 39, now i do 300 throughout everyday and within a month could crank out 55-60 pretty easy

why are you on your knuckles instead of palms of your hands? are you purposedly making it harder for yourself?
dddoughboyyy 1 year ago
@dddoughboyyy It puts a lot of strain on your wrists, which aren't really made for that type of thing, your wrists are stronger when they're are even with your forearm (when your hands are balled into fists).

Can do 68 push ups in a row now, and around 20 pull ups
Jort007 1 year ago
I finished the program and did 67 consecutive. They suggest stopping every 10 to rest but it just seemed to add to the soreness in my arms. Does anyone know why? I don't really have any problem with the pain, so maybe its that my chest is stronger than my arms.
4andbelow 1 year ago
ive been doing push ups all my life in fact i love doing them...i started the age of 9...im 17 now..umm i can do 75 push ups and im fat from stomach but arms are ripped....and it hurts but i do them in sets last time i went to 300 push ups in sets...im really strong but hope i can do 500 so wish me luck..=)
