He really did die in the book...why would they change it? Twilight is not more important than Harry Potter. Plus this movie was made LONG before the Twilight books even got popular. Around 2005 or so. Even if him being in Twilight even did have anything to do with it...they only kill characters off like that in tv shows. Why would they do it in a movie? I guess you thought it would have something to do with him being in the next Harry Potter movie. He really died. This was long before Twilight.
