i saw OLP in a tiny shitty club in Johnson City TN. They were amazing. Raine said OLP would always come back. They never did in 5 years or so. *shrug* great band. Although Raine travelled in a separate bus than the rest of the band. Met everyone but Raine. Nice cool mellow smart funny guys.
I have seen them live twice. The first time, around 1995 in Atlanta Midtown Music Festival, they blew me away, outshining all other big names. I have been mesmerised since. Great band live, lots of energy and kick butt guitar. Love Raine's voice, too.
@Terranova1469 Their live CD has some of the best guitar solos you can imagine. I am amazed they are not HUGE. I saw them twice and the first time, around 1995, I didn't know who they were and I was wowed by the power. Their albums rock but they are definately a band that has to be heard live.
I saw this band before 2000 and they completely tour the house sown. They really did safe the lifves of a loaght of fans that when nuts during there shows.
At a couple spots in the barricades there were like stairs leading downwards, and just cement to catch you haha. And if you're crowd surfing, and accidently fly into one of those cement drops, you could get seriously hurt.
They completely sold out, happiness is not a fish and the first album were excellent. Their most recent stuff sounds like generic finger eleven bullshit.
lol from 303 to like 310 see how raine goes the the ppl walking in front of him then he's like are you ok.. you ok.. and goes back to the song.. good guy he is !
The guitarist you see in this video, Mike Turner (who actually started the band with the lead singer, Raine Maida), left the band about 6 years ago, but they hired a new lead guitarist and I believe the other members that you see in this video are still in the band.
yeah...they totally sold-out...that's why this absolutely incredible...that's why the audience flipped when they played an old song...sell-outs my ass
i wudnt agree to that so much coz if u see raine u would think other wise coz hes just there for the music, which you can tell from music/interviews hes done and been in
LOL! I love these replies I get... lol! I sing too guys and I know what it's like to sing in the cold. Been there, done that. Thing is, he's not even close to the notes. Show me when he's hitting the notes live anywhere and I'll change my opinion then. BTW- Big fan of the band... not happy with this live perf tho.
God, no offense! WHat the hell is this?! I've heard their other song too, Super Man's Dead. WHat the hell is Raine Maida doing wiht his voice, raising it to such high pitch. Instead listne to their osng "Whatever", it's an old one. OLP even stopped playing it, and htye didn't make a music video. Big mistake. -.-
You do realize that is one of the trademarks of OLP,right? Raine Maidas faslsetto. Also,"whatever" is more recent than both of the other songs you just named.
I would like to take a moment to make fun of myself and my misspelling of wear in the below comment, I am a retard. The sentiment to DanRC30 however remains...
Thats what happens when you sing in dry cold wether. Its not his fault. Im a professional singer and its really hard to sing anything in dry air for more than an hour.
it's called grunge man, u dont like it, dont listen, but dont make fun of it. and fyi, listen to his newer stuff where he's not doing grunge, he can hit his own notes
Raine seems worried about the condition of the crowd. Watch his face after he starts singing. I like all of the album, Clumsy. But, then...I haven't heard much more. I had the Armageddon soundtrack, and I had Clumsy.....So, this song + Clumsy....lol.. Why don't they play OLP in Chicago?!
Raine has always dissed the security. I attended a live show way back int he day 93' and a sec. guard jacks up a kid and he threatened to walk off the stage if he didn't let him go... Needless to say, the show went on.
supermans dead, automatic flowers, one man army, clumsy, everyones a junkie, man there are so many sick songs. my favourite cds are happyness is not a fish that you can catch, spiritual machines and clumsy. p.s. does anyone know exactly what he said at the begining?

I'm not. His voice is a little similar to the guys in Buck Cherry.

"Selling out" means compromising your beliefs for money.
OLP has ALWAYS believed in sharing music first and foremost.
Where's the selling out in that?

YEs, evchic, they're still together. They're in the studio right now recording a new album, with the album due for release sometime this year.

selling out what exactly ?
What is a "sell out" ?
Someone who wants to make a living (aka = money) with his very albums and work ?
That's the main goal of every single artist on earth .
Anyone criticizing or denying this is absolutely cluess and desilusional about the musical business and our world
