I have noticed some 'preachers' offer to pray for you if you donate to the church. I think this is wrong on so many levels. Prayer is free and should be offered anytime. I do believe in paying my tithes. But people need to stop worrying so much about how the money is used but rather that you gave it with a full heart. It should only matter that God sees you giving your 10%. Remember, you aren't paying to anyone but to God as an act of faith that He will always take care of you.

Growing up my mom was confused. A pastor then "opened her eyes" and convinced her that christ was the only way to heaven and it you do not tithe then you won't prosper with Him in heaven. I have noticed some 'preachers' offer to pray for you if you donate to the church. I think this is wrong on so many levels. Prayer is free and should be offered anytime. I do believe in paying my tithes. But people need to stop worrying so much about how the money is used but rather that you gave it with a full heart. It should only matter that God sees you giving your 10%. Remember, you aren't paying to anyone but to God as an act of faith that He will always take care of you.

Growing up my mom was confused. A pastor then "opened her eyes" and convinced her that christ was the only way to heaven and it you do not tithe then you won't prosper with Him in heaven. We were a lower middle class family in LA, 6 of us living in a 2 bedroom house. To this day, my mom wont tell my siblings exactly how much money she "tithed" to the church. She said, let's just say you would had a car that worked and I would have had the $ to spend more time with you.

My uncle was a Catholic priest before his death. He lived a life of virtual poverty always giving away to those in need. We collected all his posessions in a car. He said praying, recieving the sacraments and living a simple life helped him become closer to god.
