  • I lived in Kingsville half of my life, played in the Kingsville and Essex band and the Leamington band. We lived over Laymans Drug store on Main street in the 50's. My dad is the drummer in the video of the Skyliners dance band. I still return to town to

Gaffan's B.S. (barber shop) for a cut and there is still some of the other flying around there. Some things never change. I guess thats what brings me back.

  • Lost a comment I wanted to reply to. Had reference to recognizing Bob Quick and Burns Hutchinson. Please post again.

  • We lived in the grey house across from the dairy that was later moved somewhere else. My dad worked at the dairy, I believe it was owned bij the Allen's.

Hazel worked behind the counter and made a mean milkshake. I remember playing with a little boy named Gregory. Later we moved to Rural Route #3 and lived in the old white house that now has blue siding. I have put a movie of it that was made by my son in 2007 on youtube.

    as Danyl2006.

  • @Danyl2006 Harold Allen would like to get in touch with you.

  • I lived in Kingsville from 1953 till 1964 when we returned to the Netherlands. It was the most wonderful place to grow up in. I am not Richard. My maiden name is Joan Terbraak

  • @Danyl2006 Interesting. I also lived on Pearl St. But left Kingsville in 1947. The video you saw was about 1950. Asked Richard Malott if he knew you since he also lived on Pearl (almost opposite the dairy) but left town in 1946 to go to University. I have not been back for several years. Still love it.

  • We lived on Prospect St. during the 70's and 80's when I was growing up. I heard many stories of Kingsville in a greater hey-day but never saw anything to really show what they meant. Seeing your video with the parade showed the wonderland Kingsville was back then. We were just a few blocks from the park and the lakeside and stories made it sound like it was the Hamptons; your video shows some of that. Share more if you have any. We worshipped at St. John de Brebeuf.

  • Thank you!!!! I also grew up in Kingsville as daughter of dutch immigrants. We lived on Pearlstreet across from Kingsville Dairy where my father was employed by Harold Allen. Later we moved to Lindenbeach, and grew up among the Malotts, who made our childhood so special,Uncle Harold, Uncle Delmar and all the others.

My parents worshipped at the Epworth United Church, and every year they sang in the "Minstrel Show" Hope you have mre to show!!!!

  • Thanks for sharing this. Great footage. Good color for the time. Interesting to see what Kingsville looked like back then.

  • Appreciate your comments. Kingsville was a great place to grow up in. I'll always love it.
