  • Communists can't do anything right. They stack people in buildings like hamsters.

Pripyat was a giant low-income housing complex. The bureaucratic government is constantly broke trying to run everything. Built a cheap power-plant that nearly destroyed all of Europe.

  • I was 7 years old went this is happend. I will NEVER for get it. Some pictures en movie can I remember.

  • "Everything is intact, only the block is destroyed"

Well what other part of a NPP is more dangerous for the enviroment then the whole reactor exposed to outside of a reactor which was just about to be shutdown for maintenance and replacement of fuel?

  • all the top management should be tortured and beaten to death... i will remember this forever... WILL NEVER FORGIVE!

  • 50 000 people used to live here. Now it's ghost town.

  • @singer098890 thats correct captain price

  • 5:35 i Think his wife save his life. It is VERY important to remove contaminated clothing and shower. He got all the residual radiation off his body. of course he absorbed alot but it was off the surface after the shower.

  • "...but the memory remains!"

  • "Limited resources into unlimited energy" What the hell does that mean?

  • @Pessi123abc he said "nuclear power can turn limited natural resources ino unlimited energy" What he ment was a "nuclear power can help a country with limited natural resources, into a country with unlimited amounts of energy" For instance japan a island with VERY limited natural resources (coal, and oil) they have a very large population and require importation of these items. With nuclear plants they ahve unlimited energy. all you need a is very limited amount of nuclear fuel.

  • @meronmotors well, look how well that idea turned out for japan. I don't think that anybody should use nuclear energy. The the risk of something happening might be low, but if something does happen, it is likely to be catastrophic.

  • @Pessi123abc An aircraft carrier took sevral gallons of diesel per mile. Millions of gallons in its lifetime. A nuclear powered carrier can go 80 years without refueling with a golfball size of uranium.

  • What's that in elephants? No but seriously, there is no unlimited in a limited world.

  • @Pessi123abc Well. Uranium is a limited resource, but the thing he said ''unlimited energy'' is wrong.

  • "Nuclear power can turn limited natural resources into unlimited sources of energy" - Seriously who wrote that, stupidest thing I've ever read.

  • seems like a beautiful place

  • I feel sorry for the Ukrainians. The USSR starved their people and then caused this.

Ukraine is not dead yet. :P

  • @SuperMuscleman1 I didn't say I was sure, I said I was pretty sure, which is a different thing to me. I didn't say anything else pro-US in that comment, and certainly nothing about bombs or war.

So do you think Three Mile Island is comparable to Chernobyl? I think you're the one who needs to look up nuclear disasters.

  • just wait...there's mutant people living in the condo's and now they hunt down the pp that comes there!

  • 30 is the official death toll according to the soviet union. Western statistic estimate it at around 300.000 i think and how many more it really are nobody knows.

  • Did that priest stole a chain of Mr.T?

  • A+ on video conversion 16:9. a lot of uploaders dont have a clue!

  • I remember that when i was a kid. I lived in Poland, all the kids had to take a medicine that tasted like a combination of glass/liquid iron/shit and diet cola.

  • This movie is decreasing the consequences.

  • This fucking narrator sounds like me when I try to do a British accent.

Sort of like a retarded Darth Vader.

  • "Chernobyl highlighted the cruelty and incompetence of a regim whose days were numbered" What a typical American brainwashed shit. It was a human error, an unathorized testing, which had nothing to do with the regim. People have died and the narrator jumps up in happiness to say bad things about the Soviet Union? Shit shit shit.

  • @Szederp The words aren't correct, because it wasn't really caused by the "cruelty and incompetence" of the regime, but I'm pretty sure it wouldn't have happened like this in the US for a few reasons. Also, the response to the disaster did show the character of the regime. I wrote an essay for a college class last summer about why communism failed in Europe, and I included reports from soldiers dealing with the disaster, about how they lost faith in their government from that experience.

  • @Szederp What about the holodomor in the 1930s, you can't deny that.

  • that narrator has a really nice voice.

  • I was there year ago - greate place!

  • WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THERE'S NO MORE POWER!?!?!!??!

  • the narator sounds like arnald swarsaniga

  • there seems to be some conflicting facts in this documentry however the footage displays the new containment shelter so it must be fairly recent. strange

  • Comment removed

  • is that priest wearing a carpet?

  • ENEMY NUKE INGOMING!! ITS OVER :D

  • @Sukka08 I don't tolerate MW kids.

  • how is it possible that formal workers on the plant whose have survived the disaster, are still alive and in rather good health.???

    how is this possible????

  • @tnerual888 Some were in better health than others, I bet that 95% of the survivors of the workers have died by now

  • in the beginning you see barriers and a man waiting at that checkpoint..

    is that today?

because i think its very dangerous to remain there.. ??

  • @tnerual888 Yeah, they just guard the area so that some retarted teenagers dont go in there and then die from radiation a decade later, or so that people dont steal Iron heaters and other metal stuff and sell them for scrap metal, it's realetively safe to go in there, only its just that theres like huge radiation pockets in some places

  • @MultiAREE okay, really thanks for the information ! But i still think, that its bad for the controllers on the checkpoint to ''live'' there? Are they there each day?

  • it so hard to understand that people still live there 0_0 WHY??

  • theres more than one prypiat, which one is he referring to?

  • @severedarterie The one right next to Chernobyl reactor.

  • the narrator's voice really annoys me.

  • @sleepovernightmare.......... well, i don't think so. i got really horny just hearing him talk!!!! damn!!! that was some hot voice!!! i then decided to masturbate really hard!!! i enjoyed it. good vibrations.

  • @fana406 good for you!

  • @sleepovernightmare it is a british voice

  • @DrHoffmanZX China is a big country, inhabited by many Chinese.

  • I can't watch it with this guys voice. argh!

  • indeed....

  • They ran the test at far to low a power level so they could conserve cooling water. The issue is that this type of reactor can get very unstable at low power.

  • This is bull, Chernobyl and Prypiat were dream cities of the 80's showing the new technology, high paying jobs and new designed buildings

  • dream city? in soviet union?!

  • @Ruchsacksepp If your parents were born in the early 60's in Soviet Union, you'd know. Chernobyl was a city that was based on Powerplants, Nuclear energy. Most of its citizens worked in the powerplants, and they were payed very good money. The city itself had very new buildings and technological advances, unlike Moscow which had mostly buildings that were build 100 years ago. The city had also good citizen services and stuff, all of that untill the disaster

  • @Ruchsacksepp Soviet Union was prospering in 1960's-1980's since the Arab embargo act, in which it befriended the Arab Nations and made lots of money off of oil. And Chernobyl and Prypiat were an example of that Golden Age

  • @Ruchsacksepp My father was the best at Chemistry and Physics in his state in his school years. He learned all about Nuclear power and other Chemistry stuff. He was in his 20s-30s in 1980's and he knows the other point of view toward Chernobyl, and he was given the opportunity to become the "Boss" of the powerplant. It was a very high paying job, though he wanted to work with Nuclear weapons and explosives, his choice might've saved his life

  • @Ruchsacksepp Thanks assface, now get the fuck back to your mother's basement and play WoW you gay douche

  • obey subhuman

  • @Ruchsacksepp fuck you

  • @MultiAREE jesus christ, it's just like lector from cheap, old D-grade action movie trailers o,O can't take it much longer ...

  • @MultiAREE it was like the city of the future in the soviet union

  • @stupidCIAagent Yeah I know that, that's what I said pretty much

  • @MultiAREE Chernobyl is not a city its a name of power plant

  • @ivanzuhr YOU A FUCKING IGNORANT PIECE OF SHIT, IT'S A FUCKING CITY THAT HAD A POWER PLANT IN IT YOU SHITY FUCKTARD. ACTUALLY LEARN SOME HISTORY YOU GAY DOUCHE BEFORE GOING AROUND SAYING RANDOM BULLSHIT

  • @MultiAREE Shut up idiot i know history prypiat was a city you freak!

  • @ivanzuhr YOU FUCKING SAID THERE WAS NO CITY OF CHERNOBYL, I SAID YOU ARE A FUCKED IN THE HEAD IF YOU THINK THAT I AM WRONG, READ THE FUCKING WIKIPEDIA AND HISTORY BOOKS!!! The fucking powerplant is named after the city, and the powerplant is much closer to Pripyat than to Chernobyl you are an ignorant MW fanatic that bases all his ideas on some game, go fuck yourself mister

  • @MultiAREE the area is pripiat the powerplant is chernoybl

  • @unitedmodsdotcom thets what I said lolz he thought ther ewas no such thing as chernobyl, fucken cod douche

  • @MultiAREE ya that is very true but then they cut corners building that power plant and everything went wrong to bad too those would of been amazing cities today

  • @MultiAREE Chernobyl and Prypiat sure were dream cities. It only took 4 years to buy a car and they had toilet paper for sale over 42% of the time.

  • @cdoftx You don't get the point, I says nothing else

  • @MultiAREE You my friend are an idiot!

  • @lyman65 Wanna argue with me? My dad currently designs nuclear explosives for the U.S. and was offered a very high ranking job in Prypiat in the 80's. I know my shit

  • @MultiAREE No need to argue, i read your comment out of context. I thought you were saying thet Prypiat couldnt have been a dream city because it was back in the 80's. Clearly you do understand thqat it was a glowing achievement for the soviets at that time. It was considered a utopian city that showed off the soviets cream of the crop citizens and scientists. Too bad it all went FUBAR. After reading the rest of your comments it is clear that you do know what you are talking about.

  • @MultiAREE Danke

  • @MultiAREE yeah it was a futuristic city

  • chheidze why people assume it was from cutting corners cause that is what the USSR did everything they designed had no real safety measures and was made the cheapest way possible.

  • USSR and USA love shortcutting and cheapest way possible. All made in Tawian.

  • Very interesting documentary.

  • RBMK design?

  • its the type of the reactor, RBMK - 1000

  • Jesus ! take it easy, I have to say all this, .... or the ministry of state-propaganda will execute me !!

  • i heard it was haunted and if she touched anything i wouldnt have gotten near her

  • Hunting for Her, starring Charles U. Kraner

  • can someone explain why these people are alive and not deformed...

  • Radiation cant deform you it can give you sickness. You can only get deformed or mutated if your family lived near chernobyl or wheres a lot of radiation and you was born during the time

  • but you can be deformed by a neoplasm caused by radiation

  • @izdagrimeyone Well, the bad news about that is life expectancy--they've lost it. And those who have already had children are lucky.

  • Chernobyl disaster could have happened anywhere, how stupid to say its a highlight of a bad regime !! of course its a bad regime, but what has this got to do with a nuclear disaster , accidental !!

  • everyone knows the soviets cut corners and saved money wherever they could. there where design flaws because of that and the people were under-trained as well as being pressured to carry out the test, they disabled safety features so the test could go ahead. all highlights of a bad regime dumbass.

i know you probably asked a stupid question on purpose to live up to your borat name, but i answered anyway :-|

  • I'm glad you did ! But still, cutting corners to save money is somehow a global phenomenon. and yeah, it was a bad regime ( this wasn't even the only highlight ) I'm half Russian, verry influenced by post-soviet society and education, so we are always expected to "ignore " 50% of the truth and reality .

You are right, Maybe I am a dumbass !!

  • don't feel bad, i'm a youtube expert.

i saw the karate kid the other day so i'm going to watch some mma videos now so i can explain the techniques to all the novices.

  • hehe, pple like you should get into politics !!

  • "сut corners" have nothing to do with it. Your logic is lame. And how do you know what amount of money S.Union has spent on nuclear energy?

  • all the reasons for the disaster are now common knowledge. it's impossible for an informed person to think cutting corners had nothing to do with it. the people involved who are still alive are free to talk, there are court papers too. my logic has nothing to do with it, i was talking about facts and lessons learned through soviet mistakes.

  • The main cause was a mistake of employees, you should know that. But saying it was a consequence of state policy quite amusing. Then why don't you say it was the weather?

  • THIS IS A WARNING TO ANYONE WHO POSTS HERE!

it seems we have a village idiot on the loose in this thread. beware of the chheidze lol

  • @jdhf983y4uhu LOL! your funny!

  • @chheidze it was human error yes, but not in the control room. the type of reactor and the quality of the graphite rods was the cause of the explosion. the test just gave the reactor its chance to fail.

  • Very true it could have happened to anyone, even America. It wasnt suppose to happen, as u said before accidental.

  • Ужас среди нас!

  • Its really bad один.I wonder how is life in Ukraine now : /

  • excellent video man, its a sadness that most of people i know think Chernobyl is just a random city on a wars game and laught when they see pictures of the victims..

  • racedemon89 is so right

  • also cod4

  • yeah but if it wasnt for that game there would be 2 million or so people who still have no idea about t, atleat t being in cod4 makes people think "ohh whats that about" then they go on wikipedia and google and reseach it and think "woah" that hits people

  • we should learn more about it at school

  • pull your panties outta your ass. im only saying the town is featured in the game, how is that making fun or comparing the disaster to anything. i am sorry for those people too, in fact me and my parents and well, most of my family used to live close to the czechoslovakian border, many people in those regions got sick too, my mum actually had a minor disease or something like that herself. saying that the town is in the game is nothing, like saying its on google maps. peace

  • Hmmm. so why were the fireman heating their hands with graphite? I mean im surprised that priest guy didnt die from holding it.

  • i might anwer that question.. well i was reading in wikipedia and it was written that the firemen didnt knew that they had to deal with a nuclear power plant..and the priest maybe took a graphite that had low dose of radiation thus no fataly affecting him

  • the stupid comunists didint worn the world what hapend so the ppl can take medicin and stop eating contaminated food .... for 2-3 weaks ppl didint even know that they are eating contaminated food ....all 4 of my grand parents die from cancer...

  • more importantly this city is in S.T.A.L.K.E.R !

  • YEYAH

  • Oh for fucksake stop talking about STALKER. No offense but everyone who mentions STALKER in this video sounds like he"s making fun of this disaster. This video is not about a videogame. I feel really sorry for the people who died in Prypiat - R.I.P.

So please stop comparing this disaster with the pc game...it"s not funny.

  • yea.. who the fuck had an idea of putting 1 of the histories worst disasters in video games?. maybe they should also put how ur player gets fucked up but i dont know what.. i feel sorry for those poor souls that lost their life..

  • Which Game????

  • S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl

if you are screwing around chernobyl ... DO NOT touch anything, i made that mistake when i was there in 2005 so you dont want to walk around with red fucking hands

  • parzit,

I think it's because games are becoming artwork (yes, they are). No longer are games only intended to entertain the players. They tell stories, make points and ask questions.

  • yeah the city is in cod4

  • Well, putting aside the shear fact of the stupidity of such a comment, I'd say you'll never get there, thanks to the fact you are probably too poor to even travel more than the country you live in.

Of course, I'd love the ghosts of the people who died in that town to also play "airsoft guns" with you and every other victim from birth defects to the flood of cancers afterward to also enjoy this game with you.

  • it was a joke dumbass wow people take stuff too literally usually people take -_- like being sarcastic

  • So if your mother was raped and died of aids it would be cool if a bunch of us were commenting on the news story taking about how much fun it would of been to go there and re-enact the experience with our girlfriends. You know, just for fun... guy.

    Get a life.

  • rofl. i really hope u would see wat happend in pripyat 1986. i wish u would get fucked up by radiation.. u really dont have a brain.. if u would even read about the chernobyl accident u would shiver in fear..

  • Really? Let's see you deal with 5,000 REM radiation. You only live for two or three days, and you 'crash and bleed out' as a doctor would put it. While this happens, you're either in a permanent coma or you're more delirious than a morphine user. Now, if you had just a little bit less, you'd still bleed like you'd have Ebola..but...you'd live for maybe a week.

I wonder if that's fun? How about you check.

  • ill go

  • ty man some one understands sarcasm

  • this city is in cod4?

  • if the cloud went as far as sweden would it and the rest of beautiful scandinavia have been affected and would it be affected even today - thanks for putting these videos up

  • You werent allowed to pick upp mushroomas and eat em IN sweden during chernobyl time

  • You still aren´t supposed to. Atleast not in Gävle.

  • Oh, alright. Scary :P

  • i live in Latvia in 1986 many people was dead too becouse these shity chernobyl !!!!

  • I wish you idoits, would stop fucking refering to a damn video game, yeah we might be gamers but grow a fucking brain, what happens in a game stays in the game, this really happened the game didn't, leave your game references out of it!

  • Nuclear power and Marxism don't mix.

  • jesus fuck off! fucking nerd!

  • if they would of reacted sooner (12 hours late) over a thousand people will still be alive. and its there fault that it happened they didn't have enough heavy water

  • Oh god, the voice over isso bad lol.

  • It's a disaster involving radiation sickness, not a B-movie. I expected him to say 'In a World..'

  • very sad

  • since the 40's, thousands of people have owned gieger counters. They were inexpensive then, & certainly so in the 1980's. You would think that at least 1 of 50,000 inhabinents would own such a device, especially if you worked in that field. They didn't have to wait sooooo very long to realize it was time to get out of dodge. Shame on the ignorant.

  • To be fair, people aren't more cautious even today. I live near a nuclear power plan and I haven't heard anyone keeping counters. If the people are told it's safe, then people will believe. Especially if they have no reason to think otherwise like the case was with Chernobyl. Who would have thought it would blow up?

An interesting sidenote: Finnish government has to this day claimed that due to the winds, the radiation jumped over our country. Interestingly, the foreign sources disagree..

  • I wouldnt blame the people as ignorant, yo have to realize access to information in a country like Ukraine, and the type of educations a lot of these people had where one of influenced ignorance, by that I mean the country didnt want the citizens to understand the risks, and have them blindly support and unite unconditionally.

We in North America take our education and freedom to question for granted.

  • Go to my channel and register on the forums. Chernobyl, area 51, collect libraries of info and enjoy the community. C&P this to 3 videos if youre interested in conspiracies, aliens etc.

    -Dawgsezwuf channel

  • IF i was in power, i would find the government and MURDER ALL THEM, for hiding it from people, and lying through the media

  • Yeah, alot of brave mens died for nothing...especially firefighters, dying slowly....for a fake democracy...and then thousands suffered cancers and alot of shits years and years after this tragedy..nuclear=the dumbest thing human race did .

  • Dude nuclear stuff are also for good, like some medical treatments for cancer, X RAYS, etc ...

Chernobyl was an horrible accident, and yes nuclear bombs are really horrible for this world.

  • Yeah !

People who says nuclear energy must be avoided should live in the jungle, without any electronic gadget or electricity, with no techonological medical aid !!!...

    Nuclear technology is necessary !!!

Of course, every construction has a risk to fail, but it's a risk that must be taken...

  • hey wait a minute. I happen to live in the jungle and am a huge proponent of nuclear energy! Currently, when we need energy we usually just throw another jaguar corpse on the tire fire.

  • Indeed. Nuclear power is a great force for good, but ONLY when treated with the respect that it commands.

  • I hope something like Chernobyl never happens again.. man so many people died and are still affected today..

  • Even with such a sad story, people still relate it to video games and try to be know it alls. This stuff makes me cry while others are like "OMG CoD4 IN RL!" <8*(

  • i knew about it before i got cod4.....people were like wtf is Chernobyl? they did not think it happened they thought it was fake

  • yh because ur american n ur thick fuckers

  • the big yellow circle wheel is in the game call of duty4

  • this isn't a video about a game...
