  • I love how people bitch on here about the music. Well if you don't like them then why the hell are you on here to begin with? And people who think new AFI is the best, listen to their old stuff. You can't call yourself a fan unless you know where they came from, and that includes emotionally- not just musically. When the band members grow, the music grows. Go back and listen to Very Proud Of Ya, then listen to Crash Love. BIG difference. And I still love them the same. Point being...if you don'

  • I want to meet Davey sooo bad.

  • i can sing and play guitar to this woo!! im soo proud... but ill never be able to sing like Davey :/

  • One of the best songs, in my opinion.

  • wow i love this song but i cant find the cd in my area :Dlmao!

  • He has the same voice as barney the dinosaure xD

  • @fukkingreb

sometimes he sounds like an evil clown

  • This song is so raw, love it! Love the guitar and Davey's voice. This band is epic. I love how they change up their style for every album, you will never be bored of them because their music is always different. Crash Love is totally different but yet it's amazing, same with December underground. Great band!

  • I saw them live in 2006 and they played this. I've never wanted to hug sweaty strangers so much.

  • Ahhh...Beautiful song reminds me of last summer, dark times, but then I made something of myself. Life's all what you make of it.

  • shit i used to be obsessed with this.

  • @spidershane1 quite a shame you come to an afi video to post something like that., as in.. if you don't like or understand the 'message' or meanings behind things of this nature, why the hell are you wasting your time here. oh, right, most likely because your life is meaningless.

  • AFI FOREVER!!!

  • One Word:Awesome!

  • probably my favorite song of all time

  • So you all wish to know what was lost. So you all hunger for the ship that was by waves tossed. So you all wish for the coldness of the winter frost. So you all wish that someone out there could pay the cost. Well the fraility of the kindness of humanity is just a crumpled rose of a thousand tears to me. I have walked hurt alone and ugly with all the worst of thoughts I keep inside of me. Sitting on a bench during the summer days while the young and beautiful dance before me. Its all lost

  • @MrSaturdayNightSpecL can sadly relate to this

  • @MrSaturdayNightSpecL Did you write that after cutting yourself? *flips bangs off of one eye*

  • @SpiderShane1 Did you write that after eating another donut?

  • This song makes me like minor threat even more than this

  • Loved this since middle school. Owned every album but as usual some of the best artistic beauty came around the year 2000. Seems weve lost or forgotten something.

  • Brings me back to the good ole' days.

  • one of there best songs before they sold out!!!!!

  • @darkside1918 thanks!!!!! *hugs*

  • Black Sails In The Sunset is my favorite, personally. Closely followed by Sing the Sorrow and Art of Drowning though.

  • The Art of Drowning is the only cd I have by AFI. It's the only one I give a shit about. Everything after fucking SUCKS according to the singles I've heard, and I haven't given the prior albums a chance.

  • @trancedsailor lol thats pretty funny I like all of their stuff but if I had to chose a single album to only get to listen to it'd be the Art of Drowning

  • @trancedsailor you have to give black sails in the sunset a try! It's the album right before this one. If you like this album you will like black sails, and you will even like a few songs off sing the sorrow, the album right after this one

this album is like a mixture of those two

  • EARGASM

  • Am I your anything ?

    YOURE MY HERO, DAVEY !!!!!

  • How can you guys honestly want AFI to go back to punk rock again? Seriously, over time, you mature. Everyone does. That's life. Look at Green Day, they tried to go back to their roots only with a political side. Its awful. The fact is, if you're a true fan to a band or anything, you don't talk shit on it the second it changes from what you like. Most of you kids saying they're bad now weren't even aware of their existence at the time you're referring to. They play old songs live, go to a show.

  • @HorrorBusiness337 I agree with you. However how did Green Day try to go back to their roots ?!? By making 2 rock operas right after warning? Im confused.

American Idiot and 21st CB are nothing like old-school GD.

Since when has green day had piano in their 9 minute songs and BJ singing in falsetto?

  • @HorrorBusiness337 they didnt go back to their roots, its compleatly diffrent, and they wanted it to be that way, they did the exact opisite

  • @heartgernadeidiot Seeing as you're 13 and can't spell and you're unaware of the point I was making, I'm not even going to take you seriously. Seeing as Billie Joe is dyeing his hair bleach blonde, dressing how he did when he was like 17, i'd say those are their roots on a fashion standard. Green Day sucks now. You weren't even alive when they were punk rock, so your input isn't needed.

  • @HorrorBusiness337 no, you dont know anything, and what are you my english teacher, i spell bad ohhhh im so fucking insulted. He dosnt dress like he did when he was 17, you would know that if you ever saw him, and he's only had it darker blonde somtimes, and usally keeps his hair black. and yes, in many ways, american idiot was punk, and i was a live when nimrod came out, which was undoubtidly punk

  • @heartgernadeidiot Hahaha. Just stop, kiddo. I've seen Green Day live several times. I've seen them with AFI twice. And American Idiot was a rock opera, not punk. St. Jimmy was the only song on the album you could consider modern "punk". You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. Go watch MTV some more and act like you know the band personally. Nimrod came out in 97, so at best, if you were alive. You might have been a whole month old. Grow up, MTV kid. You lost.

  • @HorrorBusiness337 just because its a concept album, dosnt mean its not punk, that dosnt affect the genre or the story behind the music, its diffrent and it dosnt conform to what people wanted from the band, or even the cleche sound of punk its self, and its the lyrics that make it punk. This has nothing to do with AFI, so im done with you, and MTV? i dont even watch that shit, but serouly what an insult, get over yourself. dont act like your many better than me, cause your not

  • @HorrorBusiness337 i want another son of sam album they can keep makin new not so good songs and records but anyone who likes older afi should deffintly look up son of sam if you havent heard of them already

  • @lousmoviereviews Son of Sam was definitely amazing. Even their second album without Davey was great.

  • how about we shut the fuck up and just listen

  • this song makes me cry

  • @DaveyHavoksUnderwear Awww :( *hugs*

Btw, you're name is SO awesome XD

  • I love this song SO much!!! It makes me feel like I'm ok.

  • I'm listening to their old stuff after being introduced to them in Sing the Sorrow, and honestly you can hear a lot of this in that album. Especially songs like Leaving song Part 2.

  • what are some awsome songs by any band you can think of im tryin diff. bands to see if i like them who would u suggest?

  • @TheBieberbaby1000 That depends. What kind of music do you want?

BTW a band im sure you've never heard: Mudhoney !!! Song: Touch Me I'm Sick

    GRUNGE!!!!!!

  • If trolling was bad for ur health I woulda died, resurrected and died again. Lol.

  • @erasetoimprove: That's what my other music is for. I listen to a certain type of music depending on the mood Im in.

  • The way I see it is AFI used to be a great more "traditional" punk band, and now they're a great "softcore" punk band. They're still great, just a different kind. I listen to both eras for different moods.

  • @erasetoimprove "Softcore"? It's post hardcore... There is a word for it. And they weren't traditional punk either, they were hardcore punk.

  • @NergalBladmouth who the fuck cares? lol labels are the least important part of music, and the least important part of what I said. You act like genre classification is a set thing, or even accurate when in-fact it's just made up and completely up to perspective. Quit trolling. It's not good for your health. If you really want to know what I'd consider AFI today it's closer to emo than anything... except a lot more enjoyable to listen to.

  • Great song. So amazing. The only song I like by them.

  • <3

  • I respect that other people enjoy new AFI, but they've changed too much. I just don't like their new sound. People shouldn't argue over when AFI was better, because it's all down to how each person interprets and enjoys each song. Every individual has their own view on things, and others need to accept that they can't change that. In my opinion, everybody should just stick to the music they like, and ENJOY it. What does it matter what other people think?

  • DIZ SONG IS SO FULL OF FEELING .

    MAKEZ ME CRY.

  • There are no words to describe this song

  • Am I your anything? YES :)

  • Go to your address bar, after the word YOU and before the word TUBE, type in "win" then press enter

  • @crystallips xDDDD

  • Go to your address bar, after the word YOU and before the word TUBE, type in "win" then press enter

  • mag ich :)

  • Song relaxes my headache....

Don't fucking care if it's about Lucifer or not. Can't be scared of something you don't believe in, anywho. *glares at mom*

  • @awashedupsterotype: i agree and disagree at the same time. Agree: i lovee their music with the soft emotional lyrics, even though they would put it sometimes a hevay/ loud song but still. Disagree: i feel their music now but that's just me.

  • The New Afi Sucks Balls. Allways And forever the Old AFI i grew up to this Song.

i first listened to miss murder when it came out. And Now they i mean i love them but i dont feel there new music. I wish they can go back to the soft emotional lyrics..

    Right?

  • @awashedupsterotype absolutly, i feel ur comment i hate these new fans they dont get it they act like they have been around the scene and try singing like davey at the concerts is f'n sickning, i mean bands evolve but this isnt evolving its selling out to a new label or davey doesnt have the voice he once had are other rumers, but all u new fans dont complain when us old fans whine, cuz if u had a band that sounded different than they once were u would be bitching too so f off ill compalin!!!

  • @dutchuribe Right. they act like they dont see the diffrence all the new fans Like the songs and there like...errr theyy uhh sound the same. but you have no clue how much better and diffrent they were.

lets go back to the early 2000s. yeah i really dont like them anymore when bands get to famous the just suck.

they changed there look and everything i know thats how its supposed to go but ARR!!

  • beautiful. <3

  • where is the good old AFI?: / I not hating, but...

  • u know I have the feeling AFI are going to go back to their roots. on jade's blog he asked people what their favourite song off the Art of Drowning was. please go back to their roots, they are still an awesome band, and I will forever support them, but it would be awesome to hear another AFI punk album after 10 years

  • @helloieatchicken I think they should do AOD or STS or BSITS Style stuff, honestly i think that's what was uniquely them, not the early punk stuff, the early punk stuff didn't have half the depth that the next 3 albums had, I mean listen to this! I'll take this over Very Proud of Ya any day of the week. Their most current stuff is great too, and the old punk stuff was amazing, but the middle era was just fucking godly, even the artwork bled awesome.

  • @helloieatchicken fuck yeah it would be awesome to hear another punk album like The Art of Drowning or Black Sails in the Sunset man, AFI is the shit still but nothing like their older stuff

  • @helloieatchicken that is sooo true i love afi even though ive only known them for almost a year

  • @helloieatchicken yeah but then they might just have said they're breaking up too :P

  • @helloieatchicken art of drowning is their "roots"? this is punk? its funny i like all afi and have been listening since i was a kid, and i have heard this discussion over and over and over....and over. every person that got into afi thinks that the cd they were listening to at that time is the 'golden era' of afi......lol. its music people learn to appreciate everything and you will live a much more enjoyable life. most people who long for afi to 'go back' were never there in the first place

  • @helloieatchicken

would be cool if they made some punk again, but to be honest i dont think davey can pull it off with his voice anymore

  • this was the first afi song i fell inlove with

  • Once I was going through a really hard time and without AFI to escape to I wouldn't of made it. Morning Star is amazing.

  • @nataliehaydon2 Ugh! I've felt like that so many times. Their music has really helped me through some hard times!

  • Super tolles, geiles Lied. Danke für den Upload!!!

  • AFI didn't just grow up, it's called they wanted more fame, and fortune. Going mainstream conjured all that up for them. And they have a more broad fan base because of the punk album, more emo/sad album, rock album, and mainstream album. They didn't do it for the fans, but for themselves. People are right, it's fucking music so chill. But I will agree with some people, their older albums were a lot better then their mainstream one, but none the less it's still ok I guess.AFI will always be loved

  • afi forever at heart always <33

  • Am i ur anything?

  • a song dedicated to lucifer. Lucifer is not nice.

  • @SupremeAmerican who cares if its about lucifer? i think the idea of this kind of fall is kinda beautiful

  • @roseakitohavok Yeah there's a lot of songs about lucifer people dont even know it lol but thing is in the theological sense he's the most beautiful angel, but that same beauty is what he uses to lie to people. Like a trophy wife that marrys u just for ur money

  • @SupremeAmerican hahah exactly lol lovin' the trophy wife thing lol also i think yur realizing my point that just because he might lie doesnt mean he's not a beautiful person (btw im an atheist i dont think anything like this actually happened i just love the story and what it says about people) :)

  • Losing ugly is even harder.

  • i am currently locating AFI songs i've never heard before.

    I love this one!

  • I LOVE THIS SONG !!!!

  • to the ppl who keep talking about their new image get over it if you are a true fan of the band no matter what they do you will support them

  • To each his own, but AFI had a spattering of good songs from their old stuff. This one, God called in sick today, Days of the Phoenix, and Rabbits are Roadkill on Route 37 (i'm actually not sure how old that last one is). The problem was that they didnt sound original, and for the most part, it was purely screaming accompanied by the repetition of 2 or 3 cords. They hit gold with sing the sorrow though, which is a unique, melodic, and over all incredible album.

  • I will agree though that they def went mainstream with Crash Love and even December Underground, which was a little disappointing, but even still, those are both amazing albums.

  • @polishclark perfectly said.

  • Comment removed

  • DAVEEEEEEYY!!

  • Yes, a band needs to grow and change over time. But that doesn't necessarily mean the new stuff is better. I like Crash Love and December Underground too but songs like this, "Days of the Phoenix," "Prayer Position" and "God Called in Sick Today" are much more powerful and meaningful songs. There's nothing wrong with debating either, it's boring if you just like everything equally, and I don't think it's even possible, listen carefully.

  • @extropian Secular blessings upon you, young Jedi. Music is supposed to spur debate and conversation. For Christ's sake, it's the easiest way to meet new people. You've gotta love people that try to castrate artforms. Just listen to the music, stare ahead blankly, and hope a bird perches on your head to take a shit. At least you'll be providing a service.

  • I really wish people would stop fighting over silly foolish things its not going to matter it should matter at all what people say or do. I wish we a people could learn to be more then people who sit around and bad mouth and feel intitled to everything. just stop fighting its about music and the meaning behind it not petty disagreements or because a band changed there genera.

  • Also, it's not just about the tone or sound of the music, it's also about the feelings that come through the group as a whole with the lyrics. All put together, A freakin mazing. Love the old, love the new.

  • As a fan of most music, I don't understand how any complete fool could hate on any band. They all progress as they grow. As far as I'm concerned, AFI is still the greatest band ever. Hope they have many albums to come, no matter what direction they take. Also, Blaqk Audio is freakin sweet too!

  • he doesnt have what it takes to make another album as good as songs from the earth. we could argue all day about this stuff. we will have to agree to disagree.

  • David Bowie????

  • this song makes me sad... look on the brightside i do

  • What AFI did is call evolving. I know some of you are pretentious shits and would rather the band released the same record every year, but they built on their sound and gave the fans something different each time. And I'm glad they did, because as much as I love their early stuff, I equally adore Art of Drowning, STS and December. Not so keen on Crash Love, but whatever.

  • if i hear this song, i must cry.. so beautiful <3

  • love this song love davey jade hunter and adam

  • beatiful song

and really great lyrics- respect ;D

  • can any1 PLEASE!!! tell me if i can get this on itunes!! plz plz plz! lol

  • @crowbrat1 You can.

  • @crowbrat1 no ive tried its not released yet

  • @CLARYMORGENSTERN awww rly? :( ok well i looked 2 but it wasnt this version

  • @crowbrat1 you cant get it itunes i tried already

  • Every time I go to listen to an AFI song there's always people bitching about how they wish they would go back to their roots. PLEASE SHUT THE FUCK UP AND JUST ENJOY THE MOTHER FUCKING MUSIC YOU WHINEY LITTLE CUNTS! Nobody gives a fuck what you think anyways. Long live AFI OLD & NEW!

  • @420JoeDean nobody gives a fuck what u r whining too. so pls do all of us a favour and stop whining about the whiney little cunts. U r no different from them too

  • @billiejoe1980 Shave your nasty vagina.

  • @420JoeDean your freaking gross and you need to get a life

  • @420JoeDean Hey, you watch your dirty little mouth. AFI would not aprove of such language.

  • @420JoeDean We're only sad that they no longer make musick like this, but... maybe thats what makes it so beautiful

  • @420JoeDean The only "whiney little cunt" I see here is you..

  • @Norris3MCR Nah... your deffinitely a cunt though... and apparently an MCR fan... MCR SUCKS!

  • @420JoeDean Made this youtube in 2005.. sigh.

    I don't like them now.

You're the one arguing with me over the internet, you haven't met me, and you're calling me a cunt?

    LOL.

Here's a ball, go bounce it you moron.

  • @Norris3MCR I suppose dog's are also entitled to their own opinions. How about you go fetch a ball! :)

  • @420JoeDean Are you mentally deficient?

    Go home ;)

  • @Norris3MCR No ma'am, I assure you that I'm not. Lol. You're silly, but you look cute on your picture so I'll forgive you. Haha! :D

  • @420JoeDean Hahaha! That has to be the BEST end to an internet "fight" ever :)

    and thanks :L <3

  • @Norris3MCR ;)

  • @420JoeDean SOLUTION: Don't read the comments. :P

  • @CJCostnerTV I read comments to interact with fellow youtubers. I'm just tired of people bashing AFI for not sounding the same anymore... I mean come on, they aren't Disturbed people, they don't sound the same on every one of their songs!

  • @420JoeDean amen to that i hate people like that

  • @420JoeDean i agree i do like old AFI best and for what ever reason didnt like december underground but i love crash love and i enjoy all of their music new and old but i just love music and can appreciate talent when i hear it

  • This is such a genius song, AFI is my favorite band of all time. This song rly touches me. I just wish they would go back to their emo-esque roots :\

  • so i was reading a book and in it said this " god used call lucifer his morning star until he fell" in the song is say how will be the first to begin there fall. just picked up on that. i feel like i should have sooner.

  • This song was played at my son's service.

  • reminds me of girls who now hate my guts :[

  • @sathiran123 Ha! I made a vow to never make any good songs an "our song" because it ruins them

  • @sathiran123 why do they hatee u lol? not tht its really any of ma business

  • this is gorgeous.

  • i love this song!

  • omg i instently fell inluv with this song!!! lol i just herd it couple mins ago it reminds me of nyt tym! lol:)

  • AFI is an amazing band. yes, they have changed but honestly they still kick asssssssss.

  • @missmelli936 they took a turn for the unfortunate worst after december undergroud

  • @tayfungi eh i'm not gonna lie i still like their music.

  • @missmelli936 it's poppy, generic pish posh

  • (my 4th or 5th comment on this vid lol) i hate when people say that AFI makes nothing like their old stuff. Okay I feel Better now is basically the Crash Love version of morning star (although very different songs they have that soft deep emotional feel). anyways, this song''s lyrics are downright perfect.

  • @GreyShadowUchiha crash love was awful. everything pre-2006 was incredible

  • loveliest song ever written

and not to be obnoxious, but it's "Morningstar" and "Am I the ghost upon the stage?" not a stage haha

  • I love this song. memories

  • RIP A.F.I. June 6, 2006, you will be missed...

  • @rubykiss555 THANK YOU. I'm so fed up with people condemning me for expressing that.

  • @rubykiss555 LOVE THIS <3

well.. hate that they died and reincarnated as a radiostream band..

but I love that someone agrees with me.

Fed up of people bitching at me when I say that, telling me they grew up. -_- <3

  • wow, i scroll down to the comments to see other people views on what i believe is an amazing song and i get an argument about stereotypes? thats sad.

  • I saw a star beneath my stairs. then i shit myself

  • buziale dla AFI CMOK!

  • This Is Such An Amazing n Beautiful Song.<3 AFI For Life.

  • @fragileguilt, i couldnt agree more!

  • truly one of the best songs i think they hav done along with miss murder silver and cold and the boy who destroyed the world AFI is so different than most music they put meaning in the lyrics they gave songs feelings that really touch you in ur heart this is y this is the band i luv soooooooo much

  • name a better lyricist/poet/singer/person than davey havok

    and i'll divide by zero

  • Comment removed

  • @canesrule96 Freddie Mercury

  • oracle do me a favor and check out all the bullshit albums that mean nothing to you that have gone platinum and then get back at me!

  • This song has the absolute BEST lyrics. I love how it's so open to interpretation. I reallly want to know what Davey's meaning of this song is. I know every word by heart, it's so lovely!!

  • davey's voice is truely amazing...

  • This is when afi blew there load, then preceded to go down hill!

  • @djpamb

They didn't go downhill, they grew up.

    They are all thirty-something.

  • @HannahPuget no they went downhill. plenty of bands grew up and still make great music. look at bad religion, rancid, social distortion

  • @thetornprince138 thats stupid if they went downhill they would not even be a band anymore. they still play at concerts they have thousands of fans, but i bet every dislike on each AFI song is from you and your friends that ae deaf. now if you have nothing good to say about AFI then dont listen to them. its as simple as that

  • @myllamababy going downhill doesnt mean they break up. look at greenday or metallica they still play to thousands of fans tehy have both been putting out shitty music their last couple of albums as well. I can say something good about AFI, they used to rock and i still listen to them when they did.

  • @thetornprince138 That's entirely subjective. Personally I think Rancid have always been horse shit, but even worse now than they used to be. You're confusing your preferences with fact.

  • @Meteddica I AGREE

  • @Meteddica rancid had the first punk album to ever go platinum. that was before punk ever got any mainstream play so they did something right.

  • @thetornprince138

Okay, they make music because they like it, they tried something new, they need new fans, not just the ones from 1992 or 2003. I love AFI no matter what they decide to do, if you don't, don't listen to them or search their videos [: <3
