  • Outside of the original recordings, this is probably one of the best renditions of the "Main title from Superman" that I've heard. At 01:05 the trumpets nailed that insanely high note! I've never heard another recording/rendition ever hit that note. Bravo!

  • One of the most effective pieces of music ever.

  • A total masterpiece! Absolutely timeless! I can't even imagine the thrill of being there and watching the master at work. I bet Beethoven would have loved it and applauded himself. It will never get better than this. Some people I do not understand want a different version; they don't make a shred of sense! That is like saying lets have a new artist paint a new version of Da Vinci's Mona Lisa and take the original down; you suggest that to a French citizen and see what happens.

  • God bless John Williams! That song is EPIC! I can't imagine how great it must have been to be right there t that concert and listenting to that theme. Thanks for sharing! One of my faves now.

  • As brilliant as all of Williams' work is, this is my favourite.

  • I jizzed in my pants when they start playin the song

  • Freakin spine chilling

  • I wonder why the tempo is so slow for this performance? The original tempo as played during the opening credits of the 1978 movie was perfect! This theme loses a bit of something being this slow in my view...

  • @SGTBizarro Agree with you.

  • @Tom6093

    You betcha!!:)

  • chills man

  • That's because droids won't tear your arm out of socket :)

  • @KatieLuvsToSing " Luke, Let the Wookie Win "

  • i agree super man is nothing with out this, and of course this piece is nothing without super man. John Williams makes me feel like i can fly with this.

  • It is true superman is chinese today?

  • @josedro NO WHERE THE FUCK DID YOU GET THAT IDEA.

  • @beachclud Is a ironic joke man

  • don`t exist other composer as john williams, is the best of soundtracks

  • Who else feels like walking around with there chest all swole and feeling like you can kick the worlds ass when u hear this

  • @daking03

More than that... It makes me feel capable of fighting every injustice that exists in the world today... and not only that, it makes me feel like I can win.

  • @SoretaYuki I agree, I got goosebumps listening to this and reading your comment because the exact same thought was going through my head

  • 1 person is lex luther

  • wow half of the theme songs i remember are john williams.

  • i wanna march up to anybody right now and go "try and hurt me" when this song plays i swear

  • This should be the Earth Theme Song

  • @daking03 No, it is for its sworn protector.

  • @daking03 Awwwwww! That's sooooo sweet. GOD BLESS YOU. :)

  • This is the song that plays when John Williams walks on the street.

  • I don't particularly care for this slowed tempo version.

  • you people that say they don't make music like that for films anymore, go to starwars in concert I went it is just so fuckin awesome

  • sorry about posting my long comment twice what thittatto said if starwars, indiana jones,E.T.,or any thing like that movies would suck BIG TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • it is not always heavy metal and pop there is also classical, jazz, classic rock, and more plus heavy metal and pop, rap, hip pop, and crap like that are just pieces of shit also is punk rock and screamo, screamo is just blur!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I mean what happened to the good old days?

  • @beachclud heavy metal is shit? since when?

  • @919748420 I meant punk music.

  • love superman

  • Is that superman comming down the stairs??? :O

  • epic!

  • hans zimmer is also great composer

  • They're both great!

  • Excellent! I just love this theme song! Thanks for posting it!

  • 3:16 to 3:22

    Best Part

  • John Williams!

  • John Williams is the BEST!

His music captures the viewer and pulls them into the movie.

  • first ENNIO MORRICONE THE BEST

    second john william and ottman

  • Yeah, I'm going to disagree with you on that one.

He has a lot of work in Spaghetti Westerns and is considered as one of the best but to be honest, other than The Good, Bad, Ugly, I don't remember much of his work.

His music just isn't as iconic or majestic as a John Williams score. I can understand you promoting a fellow Italian though.

John Williams has 5 Academy Awards and 34 nominations.

Morricone has 1 (honorary) Academy Award and 5 nominations.

    Winner? John Williams.

  • Awards and nominations don't mean squat!! It's the music itself and the power to capture the imagination but I agree with you Mr. John Williams is in a league of his own!!

  • Well awards obviously mean something or else they wouldn't exist.

That said, Mr. Williams music and its power to capture the imagination is what has made Superman, Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Jurassic Park, E.T., Jaws, Schindler's List, Close Encounters, JFK, A.I., and many other movies as good as they were. It is not a coincidence.

And indeed you are right about John Williams being in a league of his own.

  • the acadamy awards are BS polotics now

  • Sure. He's been the best since the 80's. Politics aside, John Williams is the BEST. No one else even comes close to his talent or accomplishments in his field.

  • im not saying hes not im just saying the acadamy awards dont meen shit anymore

  • Yeah, I can see your point.

I was just pointing out that most of his Acadamy Awards are from the late 70's and 80's before everything became so corrupted.

  • @ifnot4me, I'm not familiar with his politics...I'm curious about what you meant and would love to hear. If you have a spare moment, please let me know, thanks! Peace.

  • @pdanbridge I think that MobileDjSC was just pointing out that in today's world, people win less because of their merit and more because of who they know. I happen to agree on this point in many ways.

Yet, John Williams started winning when the world was less political. It isn't because of who he knows that he's received as many awards as he has. The man is a BRILLIANT composer who's work speaks for itself.

I hope I answered your question.

  • AMAZING!!

  • woww thats amazing!!! it sounds like im listening to a recording but noo thats live!! its soo good!!!

  • I get goosebumps every time I here this music. PURE GENIUS!!!!

  • What if he was back in the 18th century!

I think he would be one of the great's of old!

  • Simplesmente o máximo!!!!! As músicas de John Williams são demais.

  • If I meet John Williams, I'd quiz him like crazy just to get a glimpse of his thought process as he makes his music.

  • perfect 5th perfect 5th perfect 5thperfect 5th perfect 5th perfect 5thperfect 5th perfect 5th perfect 5thperfect 5th perfect 5th perfect 5thperfect 5th perfect 5th perfect 5thperfect 5th perfect 5th perfect 5thperfect 5th perfect 5th perfect 5thperfect 5th perfect 5th perfect 5thperfect 5th perfect 5th perfect 5thperfect 5th perfect 5th perfect 5thperfect 5th perfect 5th perfect 5thperfect 5th perfect 5th perfect 5th

  • i get goosebumps every time i hear this score

  • Most powerful theme song i ever heard. And i know the theme by heart!

  • serious, without this song, superman is nothing

  • @thittatto What a silly thing to say.

  • @TampaRed maybe, but I like Superman anyway. It's a great movie

  • @Americanjazzlady I have the first season. It's the one with the Pilot episode. I can see myself under the Superman suit.

  • Comment removed

  • @thittatto untrue. superman was around before williams was born. he'll be around long after.

  • @penske13 i'm talkin about the movie!

  • @thittatto Without John Williams, many movies would be nothing. I gave you a thumbs up for your comment as well because it's also true.

  • @thittatto I wouldn't go that far, but this theme really does add something to Superman. I'll just say it's the perfect combination. Superman and John Williams, you can't beat that.

  • @thittatto How is this a song?

  • Comment removed

  • Responder a este vídeo... It was a mistake. Poor choice of word :(

  • @thittatto I know... I just saw a low hanging fruit and I was bored :).... de todas maneras, tienes razón... la música es lo que más se acuerda uno de la película de superman.

  • @thittatto but with this song..he is one of a kind

  • @thittatto Seriously. You're fucking retarded. Superman is more than a movie soundtrack.

  • @Kyros Seriously, you're THE fucking retarded after all I showed a silly opinion and you a offense. Loser.

  • @thittatto "Silly" isn't even half of it your stupidity, you fucking zero. Don't you ever blaspheme again.

  • John Williams is the man.

  • i love john william's music!

  • They don't make music like this for movies anymore. It's all heavy metal and pop music now.

  • twilight was a disappointment. should have had its own theme like these movies.

  • Lol, Last Vampire movie I saw was "The Lost Boys" I work at a retail store and we sell the books there. I think I'm getting to old for movies like that.

  • @Riptidescool - Okay !!!! Iv'e decided to watch Superman 1 and 2 tonight. Who's bringing the popcorn.........Lois ?

  • @Riptidescool

it depends on what kinda movie it is .

besides most directors want a good score .

hans zimmer , danny elfman john williams etc they make the movie and directors know that . do you really think superman would be popular if you gave him a cheesy pop chart theme song .

  • @Riptidescool If it was heavy metal it'd actually be good. It's all shitty pop and rap.

  • @Riptidescool I agree with KrypticAsylum, mate. If it was REAL heavy metal, it would've been good. It's more like pop and rap. But tehre are some exceptions from the modern times, such as danny elfman, john ottman, etc. hans zimmer, I'm afraid, has started to use electronics since batman begins so he doesnt count.

  • @Riptidescool

nothing wrong with a bit of Heavy metal once in a while! but i DO agree, we should have this WAY more often, simply because its so versatile.

    it fits EVERYWHERE!

  • @Riptidescool scott pilgrim vs. the world has some good music....

  • @Riptidescool Hei hei hei!!!!!!!! Do you know who are Hans Zimmer and Alan Menken?!

  • @Kirty7 Hans Zimmer did the perfect storm and Deep impact right ?

  • @Tom6093 No... James Horner did that films... Hans Zimmer did The Lion King, Gladiator, The Dark Knight, Inception, the Da Vinci code, Angels & Demons, Hannibal, Spirit Wild Horse, The Ring, Pirates of the Caribbean...

  • @Kirty7 Brahahahaaaa. Totally owned. My bad !!!!!

  • John Williams is a national treasure

  • The only thing that could make it even cooler would be a guy in a Superman outfit "flying" over the orchestra and audience (using wires or something).

  • classic theme. can really imagine flying to this lmao

  • Yea, JW is really good =o

  • omg who cares .....

  • Yeah! Who cares?????

  • same here this is superb

  • John Williams is a legend.. Sort of like Don LaFontaine. Lots of ppl know their music / voice but have no idea who they are.

Hands down, John Williams is a living legend.

  • this makes me wanna go skydiving

  • It's not that bad lol! No seriously, I know what you mean, everything I hear this I suddenly get this thought in the back of my head that I can actually fly!

Goes pretty well considering the films tagline was "You'll Believe a Man Can Fly", well you do when you hear this... just make sure you're not like tripping out on E or something when you do listen to this, the results could get messy.
