Purse seine tuna fishing kills huge numbers of sharks and turtles, dolphin friendly was largely a red herring as such fishing still involves unacceptable levels of bycatch. Most of the objections you raise for dolphins apply to people. We do need to be fair to all wildlife in particular because the world would be poorer without it and we are destroying wildlife faster than it can replenish itself.

I guess the higher I.Q of the animal the more respect they get and if dolphines were flopping around in mud and pigs could swim then the tables would most likely turn,maybe a pigs brain would look less worthless in the water..It's like with humans,who do you respect more President Obama or the lazy bum that begs for change on the corner even though he use to be a proffessor at harvard?
