Hmm..I don't like that she's singing to a guy..like what the heck? why does that guy deserve a song? God is sooo amazing and worthy of ALL our praise. HE created music for HIS delight! I'm not being religious, just realistic. I mean I like some songs that are about relationships BETWEEN CHRISTIANS, like "God gave me you" or something.. but she has a lot of songs like this. Even if they're cool, its just like "BLEH." We have enough of that in the world, we dont need Christians doing this too.

When I made my comment, I was referring to American singer Demi Lovato, someone for whom I have a great amount of respect and generally appreciate the positive messages in her music. Still, I would characterize Lovato as an artist who happens to be a Christian, not a Christian artist like Nicole.

All I was saying, however, is that to me "Like a Star" lacks the spiritual fervor characteristic of her older songs like "Believe." I do not doubt that she is talking about God in this song, but she may as well be singing about a boy, for I cannot find anything that really distinguishes this song from any benign, yet somewhat shallow, Disney tune. IMHO

In fact, I have long advocated that Christian singers do just that. However, I have also seen many Christian artists go from recording songs that are explicitly about Christ to producing ones that are only nominally Christian, to finally making songs that are indistinguishable from any other pop music song. That to me is truly disappointing.

After all, it is Balaam, the OT diviner dispatched by the Moab king, Balak, to curse Israel, who ends up blessing Israel instead because of his encounter with an Angel of the Lord (Num. 22-24 NIV).
