In fact, because of it reminding me of "Be Our Guest," I pictured the cast of Madeline performing "See My Vest" from the Simpsons, showing how Miss Clavel and the girls all singing how they like to kill animals to wear parts of their skin as clothes ("See my vest, see my vest, made from real gorilla chest..."

The girls were trying to impress Uncle Horst. There were serious flaws with his character. He was clearly afraid of Lacrocque, and at times he appeared to care a bit about the girls, but then he'd do a complete about-face in favour of Lacrocque. A confusing (but funny) character.
