However, Jesus makes it clear that the salvation of those whom the Father 'gives me' and only those, is not a mere possibility but an absolute certainty; 'will come to me'. The point made by 'the world' is that Christ's saving work is not limited to one time or place but applies to the elect from all over the world.

I highly recommend that those who oppose Calvinism read the Canons of the Synod of Dordt, and see how your Arminian views stack up next to the five points of Calvinism, which were made in refution of the heresy which is Arminianism.

If man has a free-will but is not allowed to use it in making a choice between either receiving or rejecting the cross of Jesus Christ as the only means for his salvation (1 Cor 1:18) what's the point in having a free-will? If God elects only the so-called elitist elect what kind of free-will did they put into action when they were allegedly saved monergistically and without even having to put their faith on Jesus IN ORDER TO BE SAVED? That, really, is a very strange free-will.

I have no argument with God because I believe with all my heart that He made provision for the salvation of all mankind through the blood of his cross. Man has a divinely gifted free-will to either receive his gift of salvation by faith or to reject it with malice. God is no respecter of persons (Acts 10:34).

Romans 9:15, 16 does not mean that God has mercy and compassion on the elect alone. It simply means that He alone is the dispenser of salvivic mercy and compassion and that no man can earn it by doing good works. What about Pharaoh? God foreknew that he would harden his own heart and persistently refuse to repent and hence used him for his own divine purposes.

@lessingtom God must do a prevenient work in the soul of the sinner before that person can believe. We are so depraved that we could not choose Christ if it depended upon our own abilities. We were ruined in the Fall, we are sinful and our hearts are turned away from God from birth. "No man can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him to me, and I will raise him up on the last day." Thus says our Lord Jesus Christ.

Arminians think they chose God, and God makes it quite clear:
