as soon as i read clare torry tried to make her voice sound like an instrument i knew there'd be a great guitar cover somewhere out there, I have searched and searched... but i search no more.
I'm so confused on how you play by ear. Do you have to know the scale? If so, is it just the same scale the whole entire time? And how do you determine the scale? Is it the same key of the song, and does it remain so the whole song?
Yes, it's mostly G minor pentatonic, with the ninth used quite often. But the way I learnt it was to just listen to the album and learn everything phrase by phrase. The pause and rewind buttons are your friends! ;)
Thanks for calling it a Brian May tone - absolutely love his playing. I've never thought of it as that, but I kinda see what you mean. Don't really know how to explain how I got that tone tho.
Actually, I'm plugging straight into a Digitech GNX effects processor pedal board and then into an external audio card on my pc. Spent some time tweaking the EQ and the amp simulator, but nothing too fancy.
Thanks for the very warm words and compliments. I most certainly appreciate them. :)
Can you tell me which pickups are on you're guitar? I just saw such a wide range dynamics on it. Possibly more than Vai's solos. I want thosee...i wonder if they are evos
why do you make those faces? you look gay

This is awesome. Check the pinch harmonic at 2:53 - perfection! Many would give their left leg to be able to bend notes in tune like this.

G minor pentatonic, that's the key
It's not necessarily the scale he was using, but transcribing the vocals to a guitar lead, in which would be in the key of G minor pentatonic.
Have fun!

Well are you using a distortion pedal straight into your laptop, or just some tone presets on a program you use?
Whatever you did, you practically replicated a very classic tone on a very modern guitar.
If this was only audio, I would've thought that you were using all vintage gear lol.

You've got the vibrato and warmth of Santana, mixed with Brian May's distinct tone, this has to be one of the greatest tones I've heard!!

They're the stock pickups that come with every Jem7v, so yeah I guess they're EVOs. I've got it stuck in the bridge position throughout this song.
