Cool movie. I think this movie works on the beauty and the beast level. The sub humans are so vile and disgusting and Teegra is the perfect woman. Caters to the instincts us guys have of a princess to be rescued. Thanks for the upload.
It was a pretty good movie for its time. It does look shaded over, and I dont like a lot the implications it represents. The sub human people are dark skinned. The blonde guy is the main character, he gets the white girl that spends most of the movie half naked, the evil guy gives off gay vibes. The movie on its whole is quite discriminatory, but hey this was in 1983. We are a better thinking society, I hope. And this is why putting all of that aside, I enjoyed the movie and it got me thinking

In the directors cut, he remarks about how Dark Wolf was able to defeat Nekron. Frazetta says that there is a back story to Juliana and Dark Wolf. Ends up Dark Wolf is Nekron's father, which Nekron is clueless after taking a kidney shot. for those who say the story arch is lacking, there was more to it than what made the cut. alot went into it.
I wanted to see this when I was kid, but my mum wouldn't let me. Now, after all these years, I have and yes I like it. Now, I hear there are plans to make a live-action remake. But, I hope they don't. Because, it wouldn't be no where as good. Besides, who could possibly play Teegra?

You can tell from the fluidity of the motions, shading in the details you never see in animation, and the way things disappear behind the scenery. There's maybe a total of twenty minutes of actual full blown animation in the whole movie. They did the same thing with the first Heavy Metal movie to save money so I imagine they did it here for the same reasons.

But to the many people wandering this- they waited to unleash the lava because they knew that wouldn't penetrate the walls if the evil dude was alive and able to simply rebuild, also, ya know, they had to burn down all of their surrounding forest so.... Go watch the lava scene again and listen to the animal noises, just saying...:)

THE WALLS OF THE ICE KINGDOM WERE IMPENETRABLE WHILE RON WAS BREATHING LIFE.... RELEASING THE LAVA WHILE HE LIVED WOULD BE LIKE THE TITANIC GOING UP AGAINST THE GLACIER IT HIT AGAINST....BUT WITH HIM DEAD THE WALLS BECAME WEAK AND IT WAS LIKE THROWING AN ICE CUBE INTO A LAKE OF LAVA....
The "final battle" is stupid: the Fire people could count just on a few underpaid soldiers riding fake dragons as an army??? And couldn't they release the lava earlier?
And did the authors forget about the queen Juliana? She didn't do anything!
The movie was really good, but I have to say this that guy with the battle axe was totally awesome and then some. I have to say he is my favorite character out the whole movie. The action was on point too.
For anyone who is a fan of this film, i recommend these similar movies: Heavy Metal, Princess Mononoke, Rock and Rule, Willow, LightYears, Starchaser Legend of Orin and Black Cauldron.
hooray! the war is over, and all it took was the complete and utter destruction of the known world and the deaths of nearly everyone involved. still a decent movie, and easily better then some of the really, really old disney movies.
