depends! if that is for profit sake then he should not make variations or changes or modifications,it should be as exact as in the picture(i mean for the shape and size)but for art sake he could change the color complexion of it.anyway every portrait artist can do that changes, what is most important is that there should be no changes in size and shape!the drawing, sketch i mean!you may cahnge her complexion but not her nose, eyes lips.anyway! great
If no one saw the original photo and only saw the painting they wouldn't be complaining. An artist paints a representation of a person. He doesn't reproduce a photograph, otherwise what's the point of painting. Anyone who knows that girl would recognize her as the one in the painting.
@xorcyst1 just download the video and look at it slow motion or frame by frame; yet, I would just get the donato giancola's "The Mechanic" DVD from Massive Black. That should help you.
Very Beautiful!! al la prima right? just those with real skills can make a so beautiful portrait as this in one sit! but the way if I would like it looks just like the photograph I would frame the same Photo but putting its own artist feeling to a portrait is so different! Great JOB!
Great video, I love how you build up the layers of of paint to get the right color, if you have time can you please look at my video of my paintings and studio and tell me what you think, Thanks!!!
The artist paints what he sees, not what you see. He has the choice of changing things to what he sees better fit. It would be boring if the portrait he painted was a photo copy of the picture. It the style, colors, and way of drawing that separates a picture from a painting.
i can understand that but it seemed that he was aiming for that photorealism look that everyone is amazed by so thats why i think it was way off, but i agree doing photorealism is boring at times but that's where caricature's come into play.
