  • At least these nurses have a sense of humor instead of some of the evil skanks i gotta work with. These nurses dont look like they would eat their young! Need more nurses like THIS.

  • @RudyMvp It's so sad that nurses are some of the most disgusting individuals that I have ever met. Don't get me wrong..there are good ones, like us. However, nursing is an incredibly abusive field. The amount of stress, backstabbing, bullying, and harassment is through the roof. Don't be fooled into thinking you'll get a cushy job or just "make sure to work in a nice place" lol. It doesn't work that way people! Nursing school was a WASTE of my time. I'm a nurse and getting out of the field.

  • @BrutalRealist Yeah, my nursing job is cool with the exception of 3 on 2nd shift,,,all the other nurses are cool. But it might also be cuz i live in Iowa and not a big city hospital. I get backstabbed all the time by a few on 2nd shift,,but I dont care and they know i dont care cuz once i had enough of their BS i simply told them to go to the Nursing Manager, get me fired and get it over with allready,,,its not like this is the only nursing job out there. That pissed em off even more lol!

  • @RudyMvp Haha, that's awesome Rudy. You definitely have to have a very strong backbone to endure the abuse that comes with nursing. Are you a man, by chance?

  • @BrutalRealist I completely agree, nursing has some of the most abusive psycotic people I have ever met. Our Nursing Dept. Head admitted to being a control freak and she was removed after 2 years of litigation brought on by a student who could no longer put up with the abuse. I'm a male nursing student and i'm weeks from graduation. Once i'm done and have my degree, they can kiss my butt.

  • This is not an appropriate image of nurses

  • @comrie1974 get a grip comrie...I graduated in 1974 and thought this was hilarious...nurses out of work need to burn off all that stress and energy somewhere and I say good on them...and I'm a manager.

  • Hello everyone,

Im here to answer questions for math tests, and offer tips and tricks to remember lab values and other difficult but critical information to help achieve success in Nursing School!

    youtube/TheNurseRN

  • bad news no jobs for newly grad nurses

  • magickunderpants: So LOOK IN ANOTHER AREA!

if you're in a metro area that has several nursing schools nearby, jobs are a bit more scarce.

    Expand where you are looking

Long term care ALWAYS needs good nurses

  • @lovemerrill Relocating isn't always a possible option.

  • These dropouts were smart. I got my BSN five months ago no job and I have to pay back those student loans.

  • @magickunderpants I agree, these dropouts were smart. Thankfully I am in a program where we can stop at LPN and ADN. So I didn't get into any debt. I strongly discourage ALL of my loved ones from going into nursing. It's a terribly abusive field and there aren't even any jobs here in NYC! Just google this stuff if you don't believe me..you'll be astounded to see thousands of others saying the same things I am.

  • @BrutalRealist Right now I am a nurse practitioner student. On the upside I get my loans in deferment and an expense check for income. It is probably hard to find work as an NP but the ANA in a few years is going to require all MSN programs to go to DNP hopefully this creates a shortage of NPs by having high standards. I wish it was that way for regular RNs there are to many nurse diploma programs out there with no admission standards.

  • @magickunderpants I agree magic! They DEFINITELY need to up the standards on nursing. I even personally feel that the RN position should have a MINIMUM req. of BSN...this would weed out a LOT of trash. I also think they need to STOP importing all these foreigners into health care. They will accept less pay and the morale, in turn, goes down the drain. I'm not blaming them..just the greedy employers. Nursing has been an awful field for the last 30 years & things are getting worse :(

  • @BrutalRealist When I started nursing school I thought there were only BSN programs. Then I found out there are just as many community college programs that will take any C average student who is willing to wait it out on a waiting list. I have met a lot of these grads and a lot of them are just trash wanting to move up the socio-economic ladder. I went into nursing wanting to become a CRNA have a prior degree and career as a chemist and that is not helping out with getting a job.

  • @magickunderpants That is completely true. LOTS of trash in this field. I am one of the "classy" and intelligent ones, but we are FAR and few between and won't be underpaid, so our kind isn't appreciated.

I normally discourage people from going into nursing. There are TWO scenarios in which it MIGHT be worth it...1) If you're a man. Women like them & they are treated better. Not saying it's all dandy candy, though. 2) If you're 200% positive you will be going for your CRNA or DNP. :-)

  • @BrutalRealist I am a male and feel as if it has hurt me in the job search. I have interviewed at a number of hospitals and the units I have been on have no male nurses. My first name is an Irish unisex name and had interviews where they were expecting a woman. You seem to know a lot about nursing. If you know of any hospitals or parts of the country where it is easy to find work I would like to know. I definitely plan on going to become an APRN.

  • @magickunderpants Ummmm. There are just as many ADN programs that are only taking students with straight A's.

  • @phoenixrisingftm Straight As? I doubt that. Every RN I have met that went to a diploma program had below a 3.0 and was rejected from a BSN program or did not apply because they knew they would not get in. The CRNA program at my University has an avg. 3.5 GPA and even accepted 3.0 GPA applicants. My University's CRNA program is ranked 11th out of 109 in the country. If someone had a 4.0 they would go to med school. I know MDs who had below a 3.5 in their undergrad studies as well.

  • @phoenixrisingftm Ironically these two year nurse diploma schools have a higher tuition rate than the state schools that are nationally ranked. A lot of these two year programs are private for profit i.e. trade on the NYSE and are "nationally accredited" not a regionally accredited schools. Which means a lot of employers will not hire you i.e. federal the Nurse Corps and VA. Also, Magnet Status hospitals will not hire these grads as well. Also, crdits will not transfer to an RN-BSN program.

  • @magickunderpants Just because you, personally, haven't experienced something doesn't make it false. I know of several 2 year programs that *barely* let in people with a 3.6 GPA. Perhaps this is an issue having more to do with the amount of money a particular state has invested in education... What I'm most curious about, however, is your statement that "If someone had a 4.0 they would go to med school." Meaning what, exactly?

  • @phoenixrisingftm Name these two year "programs" that do not allow a 3.6 in. The Ohio State University is a top 25 nursing school and their avg. is a 3.6 for MSN the avg is a 3.3. This means half of their students did below a 3.6 to get into their undergrad and below a 3.3 to get into their MSN. If someone can achieve a solid 4.0 they probably have higher goals in life than being an RN.

  • @magickunderpants In the end, 2 or 4 year program, we all pass the same NCLEX... "If someone can achieve a solid 4.0 they probably have higher goals in life than being an RN. " I think that says it all. Someone with an RN degree who thinks that being an RN is a second choice to med school either A) is incredibly bitter that they couldn't get into med school and "settled" for an RN degree or B) has no understanding that people *choose* nursing because of its unique skill set.

  • @phoenixrisingftm A) Never considered med school. If someone did get straight As they would most likely get a full scholarship to nursing school. Of course you can not name any two year diploma mill that turns away 3.6 GPA students. As far as the NCLEX goes anyone who takes thousands of practice test questions could pass that exam without ever going to nursing school.

  • Twenty years ago when I graduated we wore caps and white tailored uniforms. But now they pin them I think. Dropouts? We started with 73 in our class and graduated 29. Cute video.

  • cute ^^

  • i bet the girls got ternd on

  • that was great, was that a pinning ceremony

  • hi. i don't know what a pinning ceremony is i'm afraid! it was the annual "review" for the nurses of the ward in which my girlfriend was based at the local hospital, broomfield / st andrews. great team, subsequently split up and messed around by inept managers and accountants, but that is typical of the UK's health service - those on the floor are great, those in charge are hopeless. the girls are spread all over now which is a real shame. that night was a lot of fun though. cheers!

  • Just so you know, 'pinning' is nursing graduation in the US, mostly anyway. Most nurses in the US don't get caps anymore, so instead of a 'capping' we get pinned with our school nursing pins.

  • did they really drop out?

  • we used to sing this song when people would drop out for dumbass reasons lol

  • what song is it? what is it called? i'd like to youtube it

  • try youtubing "beauty school drop out", from the movie grease. it's a great song!

  • Great Stuff
