  • @guitartur I realise you commeted on this video ages ago, but i thought I'd enlighten you. 50 seconds of exhaling isn't bad, if you've mastered circular breathing. I can actually exhale for 3 1/2 minutes without stopping. It's really very simple.

  • cool

  • SUPER SAIYAN.

  • I cant figure out how the whistling sound is produced.

  • @Tiwaking it's not whistling, it's singing...

  • sweet!

  • Whoa... Your singing is truly nice and sounded like Mongolian singing. Would you show how you are doing this, or what you are doing to achieve binaural singing?

  • is this real?

  • @slamboyj1 yes it is, i remember learning this at school in elective music and you have to like do something with your throat and it creates like another note on top. just takes practice.. like circular breathing

  • It just got better and better as the video went along! lol Good job :)

  • Saw this on PMK when I was a kid.

  • That was dudical.

  • So did you make your overtones louder for the vid somehow? Mine are so quiet I can't tell if I'm imagining them or not! Maybe I'm just not singing loud enough.

  • @shoptilidrop1994

what you have to do is reinforce the particular harmonics using the shape of your mouth and tongue position and such. It's like being in a room where the acoustics make a particular note boom but not other notes.

  • Sounds like that song from the Beatles "Tomorrow Never Knows".

  • This means you have a 50 seconds breath?

    C'mon... It's impossible!

  • aliens coming

  • It sounds like music from Zelda.

  • amazing. best harmonic singing. ever.

  • Hey @petecorey, no post-production or EQ. This was just recorded with my webcam microphone. Nothing else.

  • Dude, I attempted this for the first time last night and posted a video... It's NOT good, but I DID get some overtones in there and considering I'm a girl and it was my first attempt, I'm proud...

  • this is an interesting sound, but without wanting to sound rude I don't think what you are doing there is actually singing

it is impressive - but could you post an example of how this technique would be used when actually singing a song?

  • @williampatrickcorgan find a song that has all its notes in a single harmonic series and "play" that song with the overtones

  • Sometimes I have overtones when I'm whistling. Or rather undertones.

  • there's no whistle in his mouth ppl

  • I'm a singer...and that was pretty amazing! Thanks for sharing.

  • Sounds awesome. Are you doing any post-production EQing or anything to knock off the sounds from the full voice? I've never heard the drone be that quite with harmonics sounding that loudly!

  • freakin awesome....

  • awesme, thanks!

  • howww???

  • WOW, Great!!

  • thats awesome, jussayin

  • Just brilliant Stephen, thanks a lot. Fascinating.

  • Maaaan, that was awesome, how long did it take you to learn to do that????

  • are you whistling the high notes?

  • @esmod89 no he's singing regularly and the sounds come naturally.

  • @pollywannacracka you shape your mouth to make those sounds. I can do it too, but its pretty feeble.

  • he looks just like the green guy off the mask except not green. very cool. also awesome overtones

  • Sounds like a sound effect from Zelda when he is chillin with the Gorons

  • I want to learn to do this and then annoy the hell out and amaze everyone at the same time.

  • I like how he opens his mouth, as if to say, "I don't have a small man with a didgeridoo in here."

  • @RobBroad4th LOL

  • @RobBroad4th Agreed

  • really cool dude

  • So. Damn. Awesome.

  • amazing!!

  • Wwwwoooooaaaahhhh!!! Are you really doing that with your voice?

  • eerie shit man!! this is awesome!

  • TENGO QUE APRENDER ESA WEAA

  • Wow! You are very good! I've been trying to learn this, but my harmonics are still very shy... Please consider posting a tutorial :D It would be very nice!

  • It sounded like my synthesizer! xD COOL!

  • i like how he gives you a look at how much cock he can gobble at the end...

  • whistling. nice.

  • Wow, that sound felt like something that came out from the legend of Zelda.

  • @Eaunario YEAH

  • Isnt it like using the breath to make 1 vibration and humming another?

  • omg thats awesome im practicing now lol

  • Really!?

  • could you give a demonstration on HOW to do it?

  • yeeeeeaaaahhhhhh scotty!!! wooo hooo!!!!! man, you should totally singing in a choir.

  • i tought myself how to do that but i forgot lol :D

  • man..how did u achieve that clear overtone sound..i cant hear mines,lol

  • It's all about your tone

  • there's actually more than 2 notes you're singing.

  • It sounds beautiful.

  • Like a Tibetan monk

  • sounds like my toothbrush...

  • haha so true!

  • @penguinpoop4

    I want your tooth brush

  • beautiful teeth line

  • teach me!

  • @chipfadawada if you've ever been in a choir, and have your vocal chords/ diaphragm whipped into shape, you would be able to hold a note out that long, and longer, without running out of breath. I thought it was fake at first too, than I realized I could hold a note for that long too, and I wasn't out of breath. Try it! you could too :)

  • that's because to do it effectively you have to be able to breath and exhale at the same time.

  • Is it really necessary for me to address that that's physically impossible? Lung volume can expand with practice, and half of singing long notes is knowing how to produce the most sound with the least energy.

  • You have the best sarcasm radar I have ever experienced.

  • Ahh can't slip one past you. Well played sir.

  • Considering what kind of technique he's using, you dont need specially large lungs.

  • dude, you're wicked! i like it.

  • Sounds like a Sonicare, but this is cool!

  • lol... the base note is SO the sonicare pitch...

  • Wow. What an AMAZING gift! You are INCREDIABLE!

  • Post a tutorial man that's impressive..

  • Acoustic filter sweep..amazing!

  • Wow, lol. I can do it too and im caucasian....

  • Miko1st lol you are retarded, i can do it to. wow i'm racist i will admit but mongolian people are not the only people that can do this lmfao

  • i love overtone singing im slowly learning it now, its kinda hard to learn the different pitches but i guess it just takes time

  • Yes, for Mongolian people are superior human beings and thus have completely different features than all other humans.

Or not. They are humans and he happen to be one as well, and therefore able to train himself to do Mongolian throat singing (or whatever you wish to call it).

    Mongolians are not alien. ;]

  • how in the fucking fuck do you do THAT? Do you increase your range to make that sound?

  • Its easy polly. Allyou do is curl your tongue behind your front teeth about 1 cm or so. Then 'hum' a note. Change it by changing the position of the back of the tongue and how much you close/open your jaw slightly to make the space behind your curled tongue tip smaller/larger. Its kinda hard to explain but I think this should help.

  • I think I figured out how to do it. How high are you singing 'cus my vocal range is pretty low. It was sounding like the way you were doing it, but in a much lower pitch 'cus I'm a baritone. Do you live in Australia?

  • No, I am in the US. Been to Australia a couple of times. The pitch I like best is shown in the video by Igor in 'Overtones in the grass'.

  • which is better, US or Australia?

  • Depends on where one lives.

  • what is life like there compared to the states? what benefits do you have living in australia compared to here? is crime rate low?

  • @pollywannacracka its about the shape you put your mouth and tounge in when you sing the note

  • @alaman321 I actually got it a while back lol.

  • @pollywannacracka its very interesting, these high pitched overtones are actually present in normal speech, everybody uses them. They are the tones that form words. You just have to learn how to control them. Chwck out some Natascha Nikeprelevic- this video is great for learning, I found. /watch?v=XZyoElS5Fns

  • @eriknyquist123 Thanks. I was getting better at doing it, but haven't tried to do it in a while. I tried to at work the other day and sort of remembered. I'll check that out.

  • learnt about this in college! fucking awesome dude

  • how do u do that!!!!!!!!!

  • it's really not all that hard- i learned how to in about an hour (well not as good as he does but i can do a littlie bit) there are vides on y.t. that show you how

  • You are awesome and sexy too!

  • Great demo - I've been using this technique for years. You probably already know of David Hykes (I sang with him once way back when). If not, check him out. He does the same thing but with a chorus of voices. And actually, you've got three tones going there. Listen to your gut.

  • is this filtered by any software?

  • You have good sound. And a nice inside mouth...

  • WOW

i dont think ive ever heard people to the higher kind of overtone singing that well

  • Holymoly.

  • wow, sounds like filter sweep.

  • That IS a filter sweep, but the filter isn't electronic but acoustic :)

  • I've wanted to learn how to do this since my choir teacher told me about it.

  • Dude. Amazing! How do you do it.

  • bravo!

  • do you know what its called to sing 3 notes at a time? i know the Gyuto Monks did it.

  • I seem to be getting quite a few requests on how to improve your harmonic singing... I learned from Track 18 on 'A Millennium of Choral Composition' by The Australian Voices. Tooootally recommend it!

  • Wow.

That was probably the clearest Ive heard yet on youtube

    Me ---> O.O

  • that was good, how do you do it?

  • Wow.

  • the world record is 56 seconds your almost there!

  • Incredible!

  • man.. you surely got lungs!!!

  • awesome

  • you mastered it man! :-)

  • turkish tuva music volume

  • What a pro.....

  • that is crazy man!

  • That's better than the first overtone vid I saw... The kid sounded like a dying frog... But that shit was so clear!!! UR AWESOME!

  • wow, that's amazing.

  • Amazing...

  • Well done brother!!

  • OH MY FUCKING!!!!.... what the shit? pardon my language but damn you sound like a flute!

  • how do you do dat

  • Holy fuck, that's a clear overtone! 0_o

  • nice overtone. =]=]=]

  • Now this is good!

you are good at throat singing, congrats!!

  • thats fucking cool! good job!

  • nice work! :)

  • Can you please make a tutorial?

I know how to make overtone singing but not as good as you.

  • how do you do the whistling sound?

  • That's insane! It's like magic or something.

You must tell me how you do this.

Well not really, but I'd appreciate it.

  • So pretty!

  • its overtone singing you dicks.

  • guitar pedal people

  • lol

  • fake

  • u just hum and whistle at the same time

  • No. Throat singing is a bonafide technique. The high pitch is not a whistle, but a false vocal fold you create in your larynx that generates the pitch.

  • i was replying to another post on another way to make 2 different notes at the same time

  • WTF!

    Master teach me your ways.

  • fuckin'fake

  • Mate, this stuff is real. some people can do some wierd stuff aye?

  • i have a friend who can produce such sounds on his computer.

  • orly? fuck you. your dumb. he's using the air from his lungs to produce a whistle. and to the dood above me, cert127, its alot harder than it sounds.

  • ok,ok but you take it too serious :)) chill out ! lol

  • mmk.

  • No he's not! Some people actually are very interested in this sort of sound generating so have some respect.

  • How can he fucking do that)

  • o.O

    W...o....w....!

  • holy shit...

  • are you an alien?! O_o

  • gracias

    impracticing

:) with hang it sounds good!

  • WOW!!!

  • Wow! Very good indeed!

  • you are getting it, but this is "western overtone singing" i sincerely advise you to take up cenral asian overtone singing. Problem with the western style is it is relativly weak and it does not progress, the sound you posses now will be the same a year from now :(

Best of luck with your singing :)

  • Could you give us some tips on how to do "eastern throat singing?" I mean, what's the difference between them? Position of mouth, tongue, throat...?

  • basically the main difference is the point of origin. By that I mean the name "throat singing" can be somewhat deceptive. Real central Asian throat singing while it uses the throat to produce the sound, the power comes from the chest area, not the throat itself. It requires alot of support from the diaphragm. Western overtone singing comes from the throat but recieves no power from the chest.

  • I see. So it's got to be more powerful as possible, isn't it?

  • eastern throat singing will be more powerful than western overtone singing, yes, but dont push it too hard when you are just learning... if you try to do too much too fast you may damage your voice,

  • Got it. No problem, I'm already quite good, and I know, just like anything else, it's better not to exagerate.

I know kargyraa is dangerous, but khoomei and Sygyt, too?

  • it can be dangerous if overdone or forced,

just practice in moderation and dont try to sing with more force than you can sing with easily... you will get better as you go, so dont force it, thats the main thing :)

  • Ok, thanks for your tips!

  • Of course, No problem

  • Not bad....

    extraordinary!!

  • a. ma. zing.

  • amasing! if u will post tips, let me know, pls!

  • i don't believe it, no f'ing way
