Ma Long the ball doesnt leave his hand until its over his head and he hides it with his head, so it's technically a hidden drop serve. Steger serves from over the table from that angle, Wang Liqin hides it with his arm, Tiago hides it with his hand, etc.

Why has nobody noticed?....every service was illegal. Ai Fukuhara's is marginal because she only carries the ball a short distance on her hand before projecting the ball, but nonetheless it is still illegal.
