Phenomenal video Click! I tend to spend most of my driving time in Southern AZ (mostly with our metric-signed I-19), but its hard to beat some of the scenic drives in Northern AZ. I-40 has more than its share of breathtaking scenery ecosystem diversity! ;D
The 75 MPH speed limit is amazing! 80 MPH limit in Texas is even more amazing! In Ohio's countryside freeways, the speed limit is 70. Drivers can drive from 70-80, even 90 in rare cases.
Drove this stretch many times..Stayed at a Best Western In Kingman, AZ a couple years back..Jaccuzi in the bathtub and fresh waffles for $99 per night..LOL
@Bryant5493 the 75 limits can be found along almost every non urban stretch in arizona . which is kinda kool . wish the would do this in more places along the interstate system country wide . but nothing beats the 80 on the 10 in west Texas
My favorite stretch of I-40, west of Albuquerque! Amazing landscape, light traffic and a liberal 75 MPH limit (although I never drive that fast thru the Kingman Pass). I can also tell that you were fighting those notorious winds that the Kingman Pass often presents to the driver (I saw an 18-wheeler almost flip over, back in the year of 2005, right at the 2:12 mark in your video). Keep up the great videos, man!
@FreewayAndrew: Sure, when winds start topping 50 MPH, and an 18-wheeler is going into a curve at 70 MPH+ (ADOT allows truckers the same 75 MPH limit as automobiles), you have the potential for truckers to flip over. It happens on numerous occasions along I-40, every year.
@FreewayBrent Never been through the Mojave or Western AZ on I-40 when the winds kick up but I bet it's scary..I can tell you when it rains it pours out there..Back in 1997 I was West of Needles late night and it was pouring...These trucks were doing 70mph and everytime one drove past me they kicked up so much water I could'nt see. Even with my wipers on full blast.. It was a helpless feeling.

@FreewayBrent Flipped over? How can an 18-wheeler almost flip over in that strectch of highway? Did you film it?
