Happy Birthday, Big Man. He would have been 70 today. I suppose someone had to be the first of the band to die, and he was the oldest... but it's still a loss.
From day one, when I heard Clarence play on Bruce's first record,my skin had goosebumps..how much soul and passion can one man put into playing the sax..I can't wait to hear your son Mr. Bill Clemmons. The world needs him.
Who ever had to be the only no life cock sucking bastard to dislike this video please jump off the fucking tallest god damn skyscraper shoot yourself on the way down and reincarnate in to a piece of shit that you are.
Thanks everyone for loving my brother! This song has been playing over and over in my mind. I lose it at the end, where Bruce cries out the moaning sound. It's how I feel each time I hear it. As a retired professor of music and saxophonist, I've tried to mimic my brother's sound, yet can not do it. But wait until you hear my son, Jake Clemons, play. It's almost like Clarence reincarnated.
@1077mikev yeah, i was lucky enough to see him before he died... my dad really loved the e street band... i really liked the BIG MAN... so yeah.... Rest In Peace. Clarence "BIG MAN" Clemons
Saw them in 1975 when this sound filled the coliseum to the rafters. It was wow then and still is today. God Bless Clarence for all the joy he brought to us.
Danke Big Man.
I've hardly ever seen a video on Youtube where there is not a single thumbs down until this one. What does that say about the almight awesome Clarence Clemmons!!
I'm going to miss you so. RIP in piece Big Man and thanks for the smiles and wonderful soulful sax. Bruce and the E street band have been my favorite since 1978.I feel like I've lost a member of my family. My condolences to the rest of the band and his family.
se fue uno de los grandes en el saxo el " big man " clarence. c cada vez que lo escucho me hacia recordar a el grande de los grandes CHARLES .P y seguro que estara haciendo duos ...
I don't know about 'young' :-P He was in his late 60s with maaany heath issues over the years. Even if you're 30, and have all those health issues, I don't know that you qualify as being 'young' anymore :-/
But a good guy? Hell yes he was. Listening to the stern show today, they talked about em for quite a while, and are playing the old clips of when he was on the show. RIP Big Man!
DO WE HAVE TO SAY HIS NAME??? Big Man, thank you for Rosalita, Jungleland, Thunder road... There is no longer an E street band.... you will be missed.
First saw CC in 1978 in The Netherlands, Last in 2009 in FLL. Never missed a gig in The Netherlands. Will miss his sax performance and his input towards music in general!!! R.I.P. and play your sax in Heaven with those who are already passed away.
"RIP Big Man" E street lost it's Soul .....His soulful sax playing and raucous sax solos will never be heard live again...."Jungleland "will never be heard live again !! thank you God for Blessing us with the memories!! And he left this earth making it a better place....what a great human being he was...journey on my Brother, journey on!
RIP Clarence Clemmons, sax player extraordinaire. From Bruce Springsteen's website "We are honored and thankful to have known him and had the opportunity to stand beside him for nearly 40 years," Springsteen said on his website. "He was my great friend, my partner and with Clarence at my side, my band and I were able to tell a story far deeper than those simply contained in our music. His life, his memory, and his love will live on in that story and in our band."

@jacjr6193 well pop music sucks ass and any saxophone player who limits himself to pop or rock is a melvin. And that asshole doesnt know enough about music or improvisation to have soul he's playing blue's scales, thats only 5 notes, he sucks

@jacjr6193 The reason jazz saxophonists are more experienced that pop saxophonists is because they're just better and know significantly more about music. Clarence Clemons could never play bebop/jazz if he even wanted to. And rock doesnt allow guitarists to show off at all, all they play is fast blues scales with a shit load of effects on. Any jazz guitarists is better than the best rock guitarist. Look up Mike stern and Pat Metheny, they're amazing jazz guitarists.
@usetheforce207 and getting back to B. you comparing Clarence to a great Jazz player is like comparing one of jazz great guitarists(Wes Montgomery) to say Jimi Hendrix no contest. @jacjr6193 old farts? are you shitting me. Maybe if you're from Utah or something. Go to a place like New orleans, new york, or paris. Jazz is extremely popular in most places, especially amongst college students. And Wes Montgomery and buddy rich are ancient there is obviously a lot you don't know about music and jazz. There was a music revolution called bebop, like John coltrane and michael brecker. And as far as drummers there are amazing drummers alive now far better than rock drummers

@14joakim ,, he is great the best but age is hard on the saxplayer, the instrument is heavy and tiriing to blow but its part of him he has to do it.long may he be spared
