Just to clarify: The reason people consider this animal cruelty is because of the way the trick works. These flies are poisoned, and as they are about to die, they roll over. Then the woman puts a ball on top of the flies, and the flies react by trying to run away, which in turn spins the ball.

Yeah, they're just flies. But it is kind of twisted when you think about it. Nothing to protest over, but twisted nonetheless.
