The ONLY reason that Sylvia Anderson had the Ladys on Moonbase to wear Purple wigs, WAS that it was apart of the uniform, and She said it was EASY!!! That was it. She said in a interview, IT was easy to have them wear purple wigs, Blonde would of interfer'd she said.
First understand that this was a series done in the UK in the late 60's who projected a vision of the 80's after aliens came to Earth to harvest humans body parts for their species. This was a team of folks on land, air, sea and on the moon whose job it was to protect and montor the earth against these aliens. As far as the fishnet shirts, this is one team that was positioned undersea and had to adapt quickly. Moonbase's personnel hair color relflected the vision of those inhabited there.
I like how you included the "Century 20" logo in the opening Montage. As a kid, that's all I had to see to start cheering, "UFO! UFO!"

I never understood the outfits... purple wigs in space and mesh shirts in a submarine? Also like how 'advanced' things were in 1980
