  • This is a rocking dancin singin group that lifts you outta your seat and gets them feet movin :-)They had hit after hit and always kept more coming!!!THIS and two other of their hits were my dancing favorites,"Till the morning comes and Time to party now"!Now THAT was music to dance to and not just move around a little....you BOOGIE DOWN!!!!!!Now THAT's they way to do it...If you are gonna do it...do it RIGHT :-)Thanks for this classic :-)

  • all this time I thought Ray sung the lead on this

  • this is a great tune.I bought the lp in 78 and it still stands the test of time. alot better than that garbage they call hip hop or rap.

  • UP ON T^HE HILL HUH?

  • 23 years of bliss

Poor you youth who have memories of knives, whores and drugs

  • <3 this song. Ray is still making music as a smooth jazz artist. Saw him in concert last year.

  • This whole time I thought the background singers were girls...

  • i allways thought ray sang the high part too. im disapointed...lol

  • 4 people tripped and fell down the hill.

  • Am feeling like Jack right now.

  • I love when people come on here and rip songs like this...man without songs like this these young no talented pieces of garbage on the radio today wouldnt even be singing. Realize this song was from 1978 33 years ago and its still the jam...So if your not a fan of this music why come here with your sarcastic or rude comments. Go listen to your garbage music from people who envy groups like this....

  • @michaelc9999 AMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

    the Midnight Special years ago.

    methodistgirl

  • (to the tune of jack and jill) jack and jill went up the hill to smake some marajuana.. jack got high, pulled down his fly and asked jill if she wanna. jill said yes, pulled up her dress and had a little fun. but stupid jill forget her pill so now they have a son.

sorry guys couldn't help it xD

  • Jack and Jill song was released in 1978 and just think, Ray Parker Jr. is still making

    good music today, in 2011.

  • At Yahoo! Answers (well, "Yahoo! Respuestas" in spanish) there's a user whose nick is "oldradyo" (old radio). Could you guess where the "radyo" part of his nick came from?

  • Great song! Even better...GREAT shelf life. Fond memories. The kids of today have 'disposable' music. Won't be hearing 'Put A Ring On It' as part of elevator music in 20 years. LOL!

  • This song is so Gay that nobody, but Debarge cold of told you that.

  • 4 people are Rebecca Black fans.

  • Try looking for talent and content now! I love this! It is priceless.

  • @Derek58851 AMEN!!!!I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS SONG!!!!God Bless YOU!!!

  • i mean c'mon let's face it here folks. Jack snuck down the hill cause Jill wouldn't give him sum pussy, so i guess he went 2 see little red riding hood . Damn, i hope she broke him off a guud piece. LOL

  • this song is mean moari mean... i love sing this..... I was 8yrs old when this song hit the charts...yerrr.. thanks youtube

  • This group was so underrated. This song is a classic, period.

  • simple and clean song.

  • 4 people are deaf

  • RIP AMANDA MACK - CLOVE LAKE PARK 1983 - I STILL REMEMBER YOU AMANDA

  • oh god this is awful!

  • @rwk1983 ya know, quite a few people LIKE this song. #8 and a gold record. have you listened to much ray parker jr. (especially his raydio stuff)? what are your credentials for us to have high regard for your opinion(s)?

  • @musicvideoswhd well I have all their and Ray's Albums ~~~ does that count????

  • @rwk1983 Dude, your opinion is just that, your opinion. If you don't like, don't listen to it. It's just that simple.

  • @rwk1983 You're like school on the 4th of July. NO CLASS!!!!!!!!!

  • @rwk1983 GO BACK TO LISTENING to LITTLE JAYNE and LADY KAKA FOO!!!!

  • @rwk1983 Have you ever had a beer before or is this your first beer ever?

  • @rwk1983 Why would you gauge your eyes out because of listening to a song? Wouldn't you go for your ears or just listen to some thing else if you don't like it? By the way, I really like this song!

  • @68enxy He is a JACKASS...I LOVE THIS SONG...Happy Holidays..P.S.He's NOT TO BRIGHT is he???LOSER..lolololol

  • BLACKPOOL,ENGLAND,1978,THIS SONG WAS EVERYWHERE!

  • How?!? HOW!!!!! do you people like this corny shit. This music REALLY is like torture. Its #3 on the worst songs i ever heard. I dont normally judge or care what others like or dont (that would be very self centered of me,wouldn't it) BUT i gotta know how,FUCKIN HOW!!!!! somebody can like this WHEN there is tons and i' mean TONS (alright enough with the capital letters) of other great funk and R&B songs out there. Please tell me how somebody could honestly like this snit??? I really need to know

  • @rwk1983 HOW??!! Can u sit there and write that bout a song u dont like? BUY URSELF A LIFE! This is classic.. Wish u were Jack, that slipped dwn the hill and died LOL

  • @sleek09 wish your mom wouldn't play with my nuts so hard

  • @rwk1983 I don't know WHY; it merely was a Top 10 in hit in the US and Canada, the UK, Australia, NZ, and many other places. I think there was some camp value involved (you know, music by people who didn't take themselves TOO seriously); by being silly, it won a place in people's hearts, as opposed to people who use music solely as 'a means of disseminating important political thoughts to people'...

  • @shmuli9 Thanks, your the only one who answered my question and for that RESPECT (regardless of my views)

  • @shmuli9 But let me add (i already said respect), i like light hearted music (or silly or weird) ten folds over political shit (paul is way better and more influential on my musical tastes then john (he's (paul) also a better musician musically by a mile). BUT regarding jack and jill - to take a cornball idea from a nurshery rhyme and add even sillier lyrics (especially the background) just makes me cringe and the musical structure is also very weak and simple(standard 70's R&B sugar pop shit).

  • @rwk1983 I didn't think it was possible for anyone to hate this song.

  • @rwk1983 this is music not the shit'e you like the music of today is fucking total crap if you dont like dont listen to it thats a simple answer to a simple pearson get a life TWAT

  • @transitcoffin I like the music of today?!?....................YOU KNOW ME KID!?! i listen mostly to jazz and classical (stuff that makes this new in comparison),along with some semi underground, semi pop (ie.phish, ween, beck (post odeley)) and a pinch of industrial,etc............ I haven't bought a newly released album by a new artist since 2003!!!!!!! How about you know it all???

  • Jack and Jill went up a hill to smoke some marijuana. Jack got high and dropped his fly and said, "Jill do you wanna?" Jill said yes and dropped her dress and they had a little fun. But Jill forgot to take her pills and now they have a son.

  • Man i luv this ol skool motown shit!!!! like solid gold shit`shown my age ha!

  • Kinda feel sorry for Jack.

  • ahh reminds me of my first love, her name was............ ann lol

  • BLACKPOOL,1978! THIS SONG..........WOW !!

  • Beautiful vocals. Soundtrack to my life defintely has this on it.

  • I didn't really know what they were talking about, but this song was my absolute favorite when I was about 6. It blew my mind and forever changed the nursery rhyme for me!

  • @paddyotay All kinds of music, all kinds of dancing, all kinds of people....narrowmindedness and music is not a good mix

  • it sounds like sumthing steve threw away and ray asked for it from the "Music of My Mind/Talking book" scrap tracks and steve told him ok...which is what he shoulda did before getting successfully sued by huey lewis and nem for jacking "New Drug" for the "Ghostbusters!"...LOL

  • @alphaqnow

your statement makes no sense at all...this song is fantastic.

  • @SPAZZOID100 - i reread it and was trying to find where i said it was a bad song..or that it was less than fantastic. it's just what it sounds like to me. not a bad song at all..but there is a Stevie and RP jr direct connection. Not sure if you knew it or not...he has/had a direct influence on Parker's music..at least at that time.

  • I had almost forgotten... That feeling of wonder and youth and being in love until I heard this song. A time a place, I wish I could go back. No higher compliment.

  • I enjoyed this very much what can I say it nice to listen and dance to

  • Life sucks then you die. If your lucky you have some money to take care of yourself when you return no one helps you get back up after you fall. Only the strong survive?Where is my tomb? Put the rock back in front of the door. wild world cat stevens

  • The keyboards in this song almost have a Stevie Wonder-like sound to them.

  • @psychodelicide the reason the keyboards have that stevie wonder sound & ambiance is because ray parker jr used to be in stevie wonder's back up band and parker was 1 of stevie wonder's back-up vocalists

  • @spiritualaccent Really? Wow, I never knew that. :-)

  • @spiritualaccent ...So could the female b/ground be Wonderlove,??

  • @spiritualaccent ...SO.. could the female b/ground be members from Wonderlove??

  • @MataGoose Our musicians need to know how to compose as well as SING first

  • ooops! That is Jerry Knight singing lead on this song.

  • @bearnurse1 Jerry Knight has a GREAT singing voice. I wish I had such vocal talent.

  • I just LOVE Arnell Carmichaels high voice and is that his brother Darren singing lead?

  • saw them in high school(78,79)...never forget it...bootsy's rubberband was the main act...i cant be the only one...give me some feedback...other people have said they saw the same tour...i have fogotten the opening group

  • Ray Parker was a beautiful man. Boy does this song bring back some great memories of my childhood. I would have been 7 when this song came out.
