  • dnt listen to all the bad comments, yea i agree with one from a shelter, but only get one from a shelter if you no its past! Lauren is only giving TRUE information to help people like you eho want chinchillas,!

  • hey Im a cinchilla breeder

  • There is nothing wrong with getting a rescue chinchilla, true they may require a bit more effort and time to get them healthy physically or mentally but its extremely rewarding afterwards

Chinchillas from breeders are generally easier to bond with and is a definite recommendation for those who are first time chinchilla owners and are not sure how to handle a slightly more difficult chinchilla.

Either way, they are amazing pets and become part of the family.

  • I agree! I absolutely love my Shima, she was about 2 when I got her. She lived with her mother and twin sister and was basically the "Cinderella" she was anorexic, had chewed whiskers, and was extremely skiddish. She is now a 4 year old, healthy weight (chubby), long whiskered, hand slut. (She loves being pet, not so much with the holding though).

  • is it better if you buy them as a baby so they get used to you or when they are older?

  • I'd say get a chinchilla between 8-10 weeks. All of the babies I have purchased in that age range have been very sweet, and bonded to me quicker. the rescue that I got at age 2 is very sweet, but not very apt to being held, she loves tummy rubs and neck scrichies though. The one I got as babies are all much tamer and more "people friendly". :)

  • That usually is the case, but sometimes their personality just isnt the bondey kind, have you ever had one of those? I got a young chin first off and then an older male beige after that. They were both treated and raised the same. The one i got when she was younger was always more twitchey, but still trusting of me, while the beige would actutally find me when he was done playing and curl up/sleep on me. Chins and their personalities are awsome huh?

  • @animelover000111 younger! holding them every day will get them used to you and your smell, house, etc. showing them love with massages makes them feel warm and safe!

  • @animelover000111 it is better to buy them when they are younger vs a baby. Babies want so much attention (we're talking 5-8 months here) but if you give them that attention they're probably going to get a bit spoiled, and it's so hard to reject a little one, even though constant love and affection is not going to be productful later in life. I would suggest if anything buying a chinchilla from ages 1-2 and a half when they're more mature

  • You M'Lady. Are super fine.

Wanna look me up and catch a movie?

  • LOLOLOLOL

  • God.... it's like watching a robot. Do you even like Chins or are you just getting paid to do this?

  • Boxerpop82....... Did you sleep through vocabulary and

spelling class? You need to revamp your

writing techniques. It will make you seem smarter than reading something that looks like it was from a first grader....sorry

  • lmao

  • Unfortunately, shelters request a "mandatory donation" and normally the animals are not in best physical/mental conditions. They also normally impose rules such as do not house with other animals of the same species and of opposite gender or get them spayed. Blah, blah, blah.

  • But if you're gonna get a chinchilla from a rescue, think, why are they there in the first place? Usually, chins at the rescues are emotionally and may be physically hurt so if you want to have a good longlasting chinchillla, might else well get it from a reputable breeder than returning your mad chin back to the shelter. Anyway, reputable breeders usually take back the chinchilla's that the buyre no longer ones so it IS safe to get it from a breeder but try not to go to a petstore.

  • Well, maybe you could SAVE ones from a shelter and spend tome with them until they are BETTER. My chinchilla was abused before and now he is seven and very calm and happy.

  • Don't breed and buy while shelter animals die!

The best place to get a chinchilla is a rescue.

  • she has two video the same and she dose not know what to say she messed so many time's

  • Yeah thats how I got my two babies, 8 months apart, but they are both from the same breeder. :3
