What a great attitude. Its nice to watch another painter. Espcially one that is fairly accomplished. You keep your paint thin but I keep mine thick. Dont know why. I also have a wierd thing where I like it to b shiny after its dry. As far as what to listen to while painting, I have listened to some music from India, binaural beats, middle eastern music, classical. The music you have for your videos is good for concentrating and often I have yours and other painters' videos on while painting.
Jimmy for me you videos are the most inspiraing ever ...hope to see more of your works or to buy one of your paintings...István from Magyar-land..Have a great day man!
I apologize for that post I made. Must have had something bad to eat, or drink.. Still, if you want to teach make sure you eliminate the noise around you and get the camera setup focused on you and the canvas. Dogs that "attack" the easel and country music can kill any lesson. ;)
You have great painting skills but you are not much of a teacher. And what is with that country song bawling in the background? You need to cut away all the shit that craps up your "lessons" - shoot the dog, kill the music..
@Loose, hey you know what loose, I couldn't agree with you more. Truth is I can't stand to watch my own videos, especially these early ones. I'm a painter not a teacher and certainly not an entertainer. I do appreciate you taking the time to watch them and offer your very helpful constructive criticisms. Check out some of the later ones as they get marginally better, although I still can't bear to watch them.
Now this is better. Still not much of a lesson - more like a "um, here's what ya'll do... errm um, yeah paint-paint... and then I.. um, dog get otta dodge before I nuter you with a dull knife... oh yeah. I paint this by numbers."... If you WANT to teach someone how, do it piece by piece. How do you make the shadows come alive? How do you get the house to look like someone lives in it? Paint it part by part and tell me what and how you are doing what you are doing,
hhee jimmy i m a youngster too but i m more younger just 15 years old n well i m really good at sketchin than paintin so i m a bigeneer spendin time is such pain in my neck but wat is the best to make a good paint.?
hey jimmy, i love your work, its beautiful. im a youngster, wanting to go to college for art and this is really inspiring. thankyou. did you teach yourself or did you learn from someone else, like an apprentice?-thanks
i taught myself up to high school, where i lucked into a really good teacher who i got to work with for 3 years. i went on to get a
BFA in painting but as the all the college teachers were into modern style art, i went back to teaching myself....the most important thing about learning to paint is....spend lots of time doing it!! good luck yo you!
I say go to college for it, I can speak from personal experience because I'm a senior in college majoring in fine arts and I love it. It will teach you all the basics from painting, drawing, ceramics, sculpture, etc... Once you find which one is your nitch, stick to it, it'll pay out, check my video and see some of my painting to show you how far you can come. And jimmy3dd great video, I don't do plein air painting or landscapes but this is great
I suppose it's quite tangent to ask, how's the new puppy and (he asked while drooling...) that must be some kind of camera y'got there! Care to elaborate?
Thank you again for sharing your knowledge with us. I see that paintings like yours don't just "happen". I wonder how long it took you to make the drawing. It certainly paid off. Not like the sketching I am doing on my canvas. I can see I need to slow down. Thanks!
hello jimmy3dd, I'm a muralist that just found out about u from a friend. I love ur work , from now on u r my teacher. ( if u don't mind ) I will learnd from avery video that u show. thank u for shearing ur talent ==== god bless ====
