Doug f'ing nailed this, as best as you can hope for, as Sykes version(85' live) was as near perfect a solo, as i have ever heard. Doug is an amazing guitarist, and this is one of the hardest solo's for anyone to perform, let alone do so live.

No matter how skillful Doug is, Sykes contributed song writing to the best selling album of Whitesnake. If you compared songs prior to the ones Sykes joined, it's apparent that his contribution led to the success. He even revived the legendary Thin Lizzy by contributing his talent to their last studio album.

I fortunately met my hero Sykes in 95 and dined w/ other winners. I'll defend John Sykes till the end. Former guitarists of Whitesnake get along w/ Sykes.

@AtanasovPetar I was talking about the album. Did the solo part of this old song version as kick ass as much as what Sykes has done? If you know so much about older albums, you know the clear difference what Sykes has done to the best selling album. Without Sykes' contribution, Coverdale's albums would've have sounded same old shit. What he does is he just dumps guitarists after guitarists. Oops, not only guitarists, bassists, drummers. History speaks itself.
