ive ben followin up w this since jan 06 and @ 1st wen i saw the real Betty Broderick interview w Oprah i thought she was tellin the truth, but i feel tht Dan did do those things 2 her, but i believe he didnt hit her. but i also believe Betty did and said those things about Dan & linda. i believe she harrased and stalked them. but she seems like shes not the type but thts wut happens wen ppl let money take over their minds, and relationships!

I can't believe what a pushover Dan was when Betty set the bonfire in front of the home, endangering the kids and home he should have had her committed then. He just walked past the fire and in the house with his tail, again, between his legs LOL. Also when she crashed into the front of the home endangering the kids inside COMMIT HER. dan wound up dead because he was a jellyfish (if Betty really did do those things and it was not just added to the movie)

@MegaCrazycatt - They took her right out of her bed, as she was dazed and confused, and put her in handcuffs. She didn't know what the h*ll was happening, until her mind cleared. She showed them what she was taking, but they still took her to a hospital to see if her medication in her system was too high. They chained her to a chair in the E.R. FORTUNATELY, she was okay, and was "released" from custody, but yes, I believe anyone can be forced ...

@MegaCrazycatt - Where I live, if someone is suicidal, homicidal, a threat to themselves or anyone else, they be forced into a mental-health facility. Where I live, it's called 302ing a person. In fact, someone I know very well was 302ed. Her mother (not a very nice person) called "Crisis," told them that her daughter was abusing her pain medication, sleeping all day, and was "worried about her." (Not true, she just wanted to cause trouble) They came, arrested her, and took her to the hospital.

i think most of us can relate to harbouring ill feelings and wishing the demise of those who have hurt us. however, most of us just have thoughts and that's where it ends. Betty was obviously unbalanced to have crossed the line. however, i also believe Dan knew that she was unstable and took advantage of it. i agree with the theory that he was trying to get her to go off the edge so she would retreat defeated, or, at the very most, kill herself, never realizing she might kill him instead.

@karilua See; this is EXACTLY what alot of people that stand up for Betty and rip on Linda do not understand. Linda did not put a gun to Dan's head and foribly remove him ffrom his family and force him to marry her. He did it of his own free will.

In the second place; SHE herself made a point of calling Dan's house repeatedly; hence having to listen to the new wife's voice on the machine over and over again. In the third place; if Betty really cared about her kids she would not have gunned down thier father. Someone who cares about their children does not do this.

@karilua The judge had to order Dan to take the stewardess's voice off the machine which drove Betty crazy. Bad enough to deal with all his cheating and lies but to have to hear the voice of the stewardess every time she wanted to talk to her kids was disgusting. however, once they married, Linda leaped at the chance to pout her voice back on the machine to drive Betty crazy. She also sent her ads for wrinkle cream and weight loss products. Always sticking the knife in.

I think that her ex Dan that knew her very well,knew she wasn't easy,she wasn't strong or confident,and also the fact she tried one to kill herself when she was 36,well....i guess he tried all to make her kill herself which would be better for him and his new wife...they drove her crazy,they did it in purpose and she fell fro it...she went nuts...but they could never imagine the end....

It's possible that she made up the story BUT at the same time maybe it did happen and for the sake of being sensitive in this senseless tragedy, the producers decided NOT to add it in.

She wasn't jusified with what she did but being UNCEREMONIOUSLY dumped and divorced for a younger person would be enough to make anyone resort to all sorts of crazy behaviours not to mention the hurt and rage that a dumpee feels. I know -- I've been through it . The hurt and the rage and wanting to get even

@bellacinderellakk one of the things mentioned in the books and reports about the case describe how Linda sent her diet ads and wrinkle cream and stuff like that. there were so many little pushes, little scoffs, that added up to a multitude of insult and pain for Betty. that's why i always stand firm that although what Betty did was wrong, she didn't just go mad without reason. she was pushed, and, let down. Dan was a giant ass and Linda was plain mean.

@MrOliverGWR11 Nice comment! I, too, believe that the feelings of emotional pain could result in a potential tragedy (if that makes sense). Even though she took two lives and caused a lot of agony for a lot of people, I feel an extreme amount of compassion for Betty. I know, it's weird, but I do feel sad for her. In my opininon, she has served her time, and it's time for a release. I truly feel that this was a "crime of passion", and I don't believe she's a threat to anyone else.

@MrOliverGWR11 i just watched an American Justice episode on Betty Broderick, a documentary, as in real life mind you, NOT a movie. And compared to the story behind the story, I'd say the movie was being awfully generous towards her. The real Betty Broderick, how she conducted herself was worse than that. And in the story behind the story, the real Betty too was full of shit. Betty skillfully put together a yarn that was so convincing, that to this day many people are still buying it.

Some people are VERY skilled at lying so much that it ends up sounding more and more like the truth and it gets harder and harder to determine what is truth and what isn't. I don't know if you watch any soap operas but one of the characters on One Life to Live was so adept at lying and covering his tracks that his fiancee REFUSED to believe anything bad about him ONLY BECAUSE she NEVER saw that side of him that others did or had figured him out

Dan B. used his legal wizzardry to take 90% of the community assets & asked the Court to give her $30K IN TOTAL,NOT per month out of their multi-million estate in their divorce settlement, $16K/mo for 18 mo post divorce in xchange for 20 yrs of marriage labor 2 enable him the 2mil/yr income, & finally granted him custody. There is no doubt she had a bad temper and was very spoiled but Dan KNEW all this and still chose to lie to her for 3 years re Linda. He also kept poking a stick in the hornet's nest and finally got the full force of her pent up rage. So easily preventable, a dog or an alarm system and both could have survived. Dan refused to do either.
