  • @Kickingit06 shut your retarded mouth

  • the guy is cuuuuuute

  • Those were weird and scary times back in the 60's when I was in high school. My lottery number was 138. Somehow I survived it all OK (I was never drafted).

  • @gondwanalon I find it really disheartening that the U.S. military had the gall to call it a "lottery". And that's because, obviously, when you hear the word "lottery", you expect the chance to receive something GOOD.

  • @sjm757 : We allowed our national public servants to get out of our control. There's a price on that kind of negligence, up to and including death.

  • Fuck you, recruiter. Peace. :D

  • TRADITION

  • @nebraska9000 lol find a dictionary and look up the word "aftermath."

  • @Luna8P yeah, because everyone lost their jobs because of what happened in the past, not in the present. Get a fucking clue.

  • this cheers me up about the absurdity of war and the military, industrial complex BS

  • Here lies Arthur Penn. Strong as an Ox until the end. Rough & Tough his movies were, but filled with humanity, I concur.

  • rip Arthur Penn!

  • one of my mom's favorite albums that i could only appreciate as an adult - good stuff & still relevant.

  • reminds me of New Orleans Customs house; May 18, 1966; the day I enlisted in the USAF; 4 years of total bullshit. I came home from Vietnam with a shoebox full of medals; and was advised bye an employment counsellor NOT to put I was a Vietnam Vet. Fuck the Military.

  • @earthwrmjim They did indeed. I saw it in Waikiki with a bunch of crazy Navy guys after almost dying in the Great Lunalilo Massacre. That's a long story. Maybe I'll make a YouTube video about it some day.

  • Wow! That's M. Emmet Walsh as the Group W sargeant. I will always remember him as the madman in the movie "The Jerk", Greatest role actor in Hollywood!

    Convicted Killer Plays 'Alice's Restaurant'

    March 9, 2010 | 12:48 pm

Convicted serial killer Rodney James Alcala asked jurors to spare him the death penalty Tuesday, by playing a portion of Alices Restaurant, the rambling 18-minute Vietnam War protest song by folk singer Arlo Guthrie.

"Shrink, I want to kill. I mean, I wanna, I wanna kill. Kill. I wanna, I wanna see, I wanna see blood and gore and guts and veins in my teeth...I mean kill, Kill, kill kill."

  • Arlo is bad ass man!

  • This has got to be my favorite part of the song/

  • I love how the paper said "kid" on the back.

  • in 81, there was no draft.....

  • No, no... you are correct that there was no draft. He said that a couple of people sang Alice's restaurant in the recruiters office... that is different.

  • in a dumb sort of way: the whole song is supposedly about being against the Viet-Nam war and the draft...... to sing it in 81 is stupid, hence even the recruiters laughing about it.

bear in mind i used to sing parts of it going through Infantry AIT at Ft Benning in '83, and continued to do so for the next 20 years of my "career" in the Reserves, as well as to play it at home every T-day... so maybe i'm stupid too, or maybe the song resonates..... %-)

  • When I was in the recruiter's office in 1981, a couple of guys did walk in and sang one bar and left. Even the recruiters laughed.

  • we were talking about father raping and all kinds of groovy stuff!

  • Great song. Mediocre movie. Thanks for posting either way...oh...and Happy Thanksgiving! :)

  • o really?

  • Lol, I love how some of them are father-rapers, but their All guys.

They missed out of a bit tho...the origional song says: that he said he littered and they all shuffled away, then he said 'and being a public nuciance' and they all shuffle back.

Had to point it out soz =\

  • ROFLMAO!! FATHER-RAPERS!!!??

  • Remember Alice? this is still a song about Alice

  • This was an amazing album, I remember listening to this as a child with my dad, I freakin love it.

  • @HiPpPiEcHiKcKiE i onnly bought this on itunes last night and nearly actually crapped myself when i saw that it was 18 minutes long still awesome song

  • @thewho311-- I can sing you the whole 18 minute song...I do lose my breath some during the court scene with the circles and arrows and paragraphs on the back of each one explaining what each one was to be used as evidence against them...

  • @HiPpPiEcHiKcKiE haha cool you should put up a video or else go sit on that bench over there that says bench w

  • Comment removed

  • I'm just sad there isn't more views on the group w bench
