I race at velodromes around the US. I've always wanted to film them and I'm wondering if this camera would be good for that. Could you give some advice on what camera I should use?
Would you recommend this camera for snowmobiling? We ride up in Wyoming and I have always wanted to try out a helmet cam. Just trying to figure out the best one. Thanks
@magicmarker95 Yes! This would be a wicked camera for that.. You can change you settings on the fly with a smart phone or pre set two settings.. maybe overcast and daylight. Great helmet mount camera and would be pretty cool to strap a ski pole behind you for the over the shoulder view. Vey versatile with the rotating lens, you could mount on top of you helmet and rotate the lens or switch to the side view.. up to you.

@TheSilentButton That didn't do anything. They just released a second firmware update about a month ago that finally fixed the audio problem. It works fine now. Adjusting the mic sensitivity wasn't the solution. That update was.

I think I have fixed the wind noise problem with a "snap on" mic accessory. I am trying to find a donor/damaged/non functional Contour (any model with the front facing pinhole mic). I need the camera housing with a mic inside for further testing, the camera part doesn't need to work or be included. Anybody have any ideas of where I can get one?
@iAIRSOFTiMAN did you download Contour Storyteller? Very strange the camera is not detected on desktop? Try downloading the free app then see where you are at.. keep me posted!
@cgnls I use Final Cut Pro 7.... but thats not necessary at all. Most of my friends find Final Cut X or imovie to be very easy to get the hang of. You can pull off just about anything you want to do with those programs.

@m09c14 Yeah sounds like this camera would be right up your alley. Unless you need the best image ever! Then this should be a perfect fit, it's almost as good as the plus, but waterproof and the battery last longer. You should be good for almost three hours of filming.

@AndOneFilms nice one. Well, i haven't had a chance do a good sound test but you just gave me another vid I need to do.. compare a few of the POV cams sound. So your not stoked on the sound I take it?
@PointOfViewCameras I've heard depressing things about the ROAMS audio. Some people say it flat out doesn't work, others say you can only hear taps on the camera due to the built in watertight casing.
@AndOneFilms well i just gave it a quick test " whats up this is a sound test for the ROAM!" it sounds pretty good.. I'll take it out for a test run when we go riding this weekend, compare it with the GoPro.. see what i can come up with!

We use contour (we got out 1st when it was vholdr) but we use it because we ski and when your in the trees, you probably will hit the top of your head, but it's a lot harder to hit the side of your head. I personally like Contour better. But, I'm gonna get mine @ Christmas, because I just build a computer :)
Hey mate, would you mind uploading a video on how to slide a mount onto this camera? I've just bought it along with some mounts and I don't want to force it over the two little rivets on the mount in fear of breaking it so it ends up looking like it is just mounted halfway. Or is it just sticky the first time you do this?
If i'm doing DH mountain biking, would the Roam, or a Go Pro be better? because the track i do is rather bumpy and the go pro might shake because of the mount? but the contour seems to have better mounts, so might not shake as much? Advice :S
it says its waterproof but i seen vids with the contour having a a waterproof CASE tats confusing me, n on some vids it shows under water BUT does it have the case on.
@ynds12 hmm. well some guys might use the housing. That would be for anything over a meter deep. The idea is, now you have a sleek looking camera you can mount on your head while doing water sports without the extra bulk. The ROAM is perfect for anyone who is into jet skiing, wake boarding, kayaking, mountain biking(in the rain) white water rafting, kite boarding.. you get the idea. It's good to fill under water up to a meter.. after that throw a housing on.

You cant do the bluetooth thing with this one, it's striped down to keep the cost down. You can adjust the settings to a degree but you need to do it from you computer.
I was looking at picking up a ContourHD and was wondering why so many sites had them at a discount. The non-swappable battery is a bit of a bummer on this new model but that wouldn't be a problem is that ContourROAM can charge and record at the same time. That might allow the use of a USB battery pack for longer record times.
Anyone know if the Contour can recharge and record at the same time?
@mattar63 Negative, the battery is built in. This allowed Contour to maximize battery life and make it more waterproof. They say you should be able to film in 720p at 30fps for roughly 3 1/2 hours.

@samaster121 this thing doesn't shoot 60fps tho. I love my contour hd 1080p. Got mine from mosquitocreekoutdoors . com for about 140$. If I were you, I'd just buy the water proof case.
