  • The Elise is light and aerodynamic. Pair that with its low ride and oh my gentle Jesus, we have something not normally seen...a sports car with 1.8L under the hood keeping up with a 505 HP Vette. When it doesn't weigh 3,500 lbs, you dont need 505 HP

  • What a load of ****. First off the Corvette is Chevy's flagship. It should have been paired up with the Exige SC. Second lets face it, the Elise is a 1.8 liter engine. The vette should be embarrassed that it can keep up. Third the Elise was nowhere near redline. I didn't hear the rev limiter come into play once. People who have no idea the capabilities of a 4AGE engine need to not spout off about how inferior they think it is.

  • The problem is that the guy in the Lotus is about to blow up his car, while the guy in the Vette is playing around. If you were to take a Z06 and start hitting the corners hard and nailing the throttle, you would be seeing tire smoke and the car pitching. The guy in the Vette is goofing off, LMAO if you think your go kart is hanging. Go see if your rocker arms are about to break (see internet). OBTW, I am a Ford guy, but I know what this Vette can do. It is pretty sad that Lotus is about to BLOW

  • @PhilipMendozaImages OBTW, if you notice at the beginning, it is a WARMUP lap, while this tool runs his/her:) car at 8K-9K rpm. That is why the Vette is chugging along, then sees the mosquito in the rear view and blips the throttle to make it go away and does so appropriately . Enjoy your 190HP Toyota rocker arm breaker (not talking to you Phillip).

  • @rsachs You have to realize... Track day videos (including this one) have absolutely nothing to do with which car is faster than another. It is not a race. It's recreation. It is not professional drivers. It's amateurs with hugely varying degrees of skill. I've passed many potentially faster cars on the track. I've also been passed by cars that, well frankly, embarrassed me cuz they had a great shoe on the pedal.

  • I got to ride in a 300hp elise non-street legal, and it was an absolute blast! stock they don't have much for the straight, but as soon as it gets tight, that thing is like a go-kart and all of the big muscle car's are semi-trucks.. Nice driving too btw, I appreciate people that get cars like this to actucally drive it with some brass balls instead of this limp dick shit.

    There is a video of mostly stock Tiburon taking Lotus Elise and many other higher hp/weight cars in curves at the race track....all about driver not what you drive.

  • @andbudzi Exactly my point! when my evo was around ~480whp on a gt42...huge huge huge lag on a 1.5 mile track and was keeping up with a new zr1 and a ford gt...why? guys couldent drive for their life, had no idea what rev-matching was,didnt have track brake pads,didnt warm up their breaks, and didnt warm up their tires eather, and don't get me talking about how much they were boasting about how fast their car is on the straights, and watching a 30k car fly by them... Its all about the driver

  • @arich357 yea, but it was before my engine build. I wanted to see where i wanted more of my power. It already had forged rotating assembly, but the only thing done to the heads were cams, and not even full exhaust. Running 1 bar of boost too. when i did A dyno pull at 22psi I made 530 on 1000CC injectors.

  • @arich357 I got it for a daily driver but knew I was going to keep the car to upgrade and get a new daily. So I took the turbo off of my mk4 supra and onto my evo,basic fueling, tuned it, then went to the dyno. This was before it had all the head upgrades and all the little other things it has now. It was also on the stock FMIC aswell. Pretty much upgraded internals to handle running 15psi until I did all of the stuff I wanted to. it now makes ~700 on e85

    1) Awesome power - You don't mention engine. You would have if you had the old

    Hemi. So let's say 383 cid / 4bbl. 325 HP (old style) or .093 HP/#. My 07 Elise has

    190 HP to push 1970# or .096 HP/#. Let's not forget, 67 Charger was rated on an

    engine dyno without accessories, so that's probably means 25HP less. :(

    1) Versatile (Towing) - OK. I take the Jeep.

    2) Versatility (Seating) - OK I take the wife's Jag.

  • I am a fan of both of these great cars. Both of them will pull a G in the skid pad. The vette driver is definitely not pushing the car hard in the turns and the outcome would be much different if he was. I woud like to see that same driver in the vette for a few laps and compare times to what he could in the elise. I only say this because I have a C5 Z06 (405HP) while my friend has an 07 elise and there is NO comparison at the track. To the euro fans getting off to this vid..suck it.

  • Only in America are the roads straight and suited to the vet. The Elise is a quick car on normal roads on track, just not 500bhp quick in a straight line ( anyone can drive quick in a straight line).

  • Did anybody honestly expect a car with less than half of the horsepower to beat a 505 horsepower car? Even if it didn't win it really does show how amazing those little Lotus's are at cornering though. I'd still take the Lotus any day before the Corvette just due to the fact that practically everyone has Corvette. Sometimes it's more fun to drive something a little more unique.

  • Driving with a passenger completly kills the potential in the much smaller 1.8 liter Lotus Elise. Also there is no surprise that a 6-7 liter Corvette will "beat" a Lotus with 4 times smaller engine on the straights.

    Lotus should really step it up and put a V6 with 320 hp into the Lotus. The chassis can handle it easily but they want to keep its price down.

    Like I said, the chassis can handle it easily. There are tuneshops that put a V6 into it and then there is ofcourse the Hennessey Venom that put a 1200 hp Corvette engine tuned to the point of explosion into it. But then... They want nearly a million dollars for it. Imagine that... A million dollars for an elongelated Lotus Elise with the Lotus 300RR wider chassis and a tuned Corvette. You could probably buy the parts yourself and have 7 of them built for that price.

  • For what I see here, the Elise is much better.

    You know what's interesting in racing. This is not the long lines. So easy to just put your foot down.

    The funnier experience are curves, braking, accelerating and this is where the Lotus Elise wins hands down.

    1500 kg (supercars mean) will never compete with 900 kg because of the Physics. More weight = more lateral forces, less powerful braking, far more less handling, ... and in this case, there is also the price tag.

Straight lines are okay, but push one through the corners and the "Stang is out of its realm. That is a shame. I have owned Mustang's, Camero's and plenty other American Muscle. I now drive a Miata. Of course, you do have to be able to drive to tell the difference...

    Lotus is a lot more pratical than any American Muscle, but then again... it was not designed to race against muscle cars.

    Everybody knows that muscle cars are not the best performance cars, but they have charisma and a big V8 is cool.

  • i feel like the drive of that vette might not have been that good a z06 can hold like 1.06G i don't know what the lotus is but i would doubt its much higher than the vette if at all then add the difference in power, now the lotus does have a few hundred pound weight advantage but i still don't think the elise would do that well in comparison with the same driver in both cars.
