I answered the "altar call" twice in my life. The first time I did it because I decided it was time to get baptized. However, my life did not change - at all. The second time I did it because God told me to do it. It was completely unexpected and I DID NOT WANT TO OBEY. However, I found it impossible to say no. So, I obeyed and my life was radically transformed in one moment.

Anyway, I completely agree with the teaching in this video. It's not our decision to be born again, it's God's.

The original Greek says, "...from above," NOT "...again." Don't build your life in God on a defective translation. Romans 3 is based on a passage in Psalms. It can not mean a Calvinist meaning. Calvinist thinking is as alien to Jewish thought as it was to the whole of Christian history, up to the time of Calvin. Is it al all probable that all Christian, from the Apostles forward, failed to understand the true essense of Christianity, while an amateur theologian (a lawyer no less) did?

It's the Holy Spirit that draws a person to God. That opens the individual's heart to the hope of salvation. That is why the Gospel is preached over and over so the whole world can hear. Hindus, muslims, Buddist, athiest all here God's Call he has given us free will to respond to his call. Or decide we can do it on our own.

A person does not have to walk down an aisle to prove they are born-again, it is God who regenerates, not a human being. The human being responds with active repentance, not just words.

A sincere question. When Calvinists evangelize to a group how do interested parties respond? Some folks will shrug and just wander away, but others will show interest and come forward. You might not call it an "altar call" but how do the folks who answer God's call come forward? Am I missing something here? It just seems that the altar call is the first step towards answering God's call. How do you "weed out" those who are not predestined? Thanks for posting the videos and God Bless!

People "come forward" in any number of ways - but I wouldn't say it's necessarily an "instant" thing on a physical level. That may just be the first thought of accepting the Gospel, surrendering "out loud"... realize that these things are wonderful, but only if regeneration has actually occurred, which will be clear because it will continue for the rest of the person's natural life!!! A hunger for knowing God, which only the Bible can feed - Jesus' flesh and blood - He is the Bread of Life.

It is free. Not selling or spamming. He wrote it after attending D.L. Moody's services. What he saw broke his heart. It was written in the 1800's. Late 1800's I believe. Truly a powerful article. Look it up on google and you should be able to find it.

Remember, God never said, "Believe in the doctrine of election in order to be saved." He said, "Those who believe in me (Jesus) shall never perish, but have everlasting life."

If someone is drawn to the Savior, hasn't the decision already been made? No one can come to Jesus Christ unless God who Him draws the person. (John 6:44) All that the Father gives to Jesus Christ shall come to Jesus Christ; and him that comes to Christ, Christ will in no wise cast out. (Joh 6:37)

If you put both verses together, "No man can come to Christ unless God does something first... and the one coming to Christ will not be cast out according as God gives" it's clear that God made a decision. Elsewhere, we learn from Paul that God made that decision "before the foundation of the world." (Eph. 1:4-5) Repentance and faith are necessary, but they are not of merit to the believer, but rather they are gifts from God. Unbelievers don't have these gifts so they stay loving their sin.

Paul can help you out with that in Romans 10:9. He makes it short and sweet. And remember, Romans 10:9 is not a magic formula for how to be saved, it is a statement by Paul to provide assurance of salvation for the believer.
