Agreed with @halcyonblu. They should encourage us to try out different things so that we can enjoy the food in our own way. But no, they tell us we cannot substitute in things that, in my opinion, are really similar.

Yeah, it's a great recipe, but just because we don't use your products doesn't mean it won't be better.

@fizzletto3 Although Cool Whip is a whipped topping, it isn't similar to a dairy whipped cream topping in taste or texture.  Therefore, it cannot be substituted.

@fizzletto3 I've heard of something called "Angel delight", not sure If I'm remembering that right. I've heard it's similar to cool whip.

Personally I'd still try to substitute whipped cream because I don't like cool whip.

@LittleJawa Nah, Angel Delight is more of a dessert than a topping. Plus it's tastes terrible, and it only comes in flavours like chocolate, strawberry, butterscotch etc. Yeah, I have no idea why whipped cream wouldn't work, that makes no sense really.

to make it even better use bananas and strawberriess. plus use to juice from the banana and strawberriess to make the cake soft (in the middle) so it soaks in. then do the same for the top.

Other than apple pie, strawberry shortcake is my husband's favorite dessert. I am going to make this for our next dinner party. I am not too crazy about using the whip cream though....I might try a substitute.

had a much creamier flavor but it was harder to measure since the Cool Whip is in a "tub" and I used real whipped cream from a can... I cant believe how many people don't know there is a difference between Cool Whip and actual whipped cream

Cool whip is Whip cream (ya know like what you put on Cakes) and Jello is a jiggly wiggly square dessert that's squishy and mushy! Yum! (they come in Purple grape Red Cherry Pink strawberry ETC
