  • It used to be 100% cartoons on CN, but now its 50% cartoons, 50% stupid live action garbage (both TV shows & movies) :-(

CN died around 2007 when Stuart Snyder took over and canceled all the good cartoons in favour of his agenda towards live-action by first airing Re-Animated (which is a terrible and horrible live action movie) and Out of Jimmy's Head :-(

    R.I.P. Cartoon Network 1992-2007 :(

  • I remember when the paneuropean version of Cartoon Network/TNT launched free to air in clear PAL on the Astra 1C satellite across Europe and in the UK with multilanguage soundtracks and subtitles;it should have stayed in the format it was without modernising and showing constant Pussycat Girls,Cow & Chicken and Ben f****** 10 and more modern stuff and sticking to films at night with TNT from 19.00UK/20.00CET until 05.00UK/06.00CET. Central Europe Time is 1 hour ahead of UK time.

  • Today, Tom and jerry seen from CN & boomerang. Classic Looney tunes Only be seen on cn. and Hanna Barbera Cartoons only seen on Boomerang.

  • @cartoonwoody Flintstones just returned to CN.

  • 2:33 Powerhouse era music.

  • Today, they still Tom & Jerry and classic Looney Tunes. Seems happy to me.

  • It's a shame that Cartoon Network isn't an "all cartoon" station any more.

  • There's too much bitching and moaning about the current state of the world as it is, let's not focus TOO much venom on the cable TV that we grew up on..even if it is getting sour.

  • cartoon network is tearing itself apart

  • True for thee 26% of Nick. Because there are some live action shows

  • OK this is very nice, but I really think we should re-check our population and take new samples and calc our z-score and standard deviation, and then do a histogram instead.

  • I feel bad for the kids that are watching cartoon network nowadays.

  • 5:20 sadly that has happened <:`C

  • sadly nowadays cartoon network has about 50%cartoons and 50% stupid trashy reality shows >:(

  • "All cartoons, all the time." BULLCRAP!!!

  • "Only Turner is capable of launching an all-cartoon network"

10 Years later, we see the arrival of Toon Disney (which no longer exists) and Nicktoons.

  • Oh how the mighty have fallen.

  • cartoonnetwork is NOT 100% at least not anymore.

  • @brandeezy108 cartoonnetwork is less than 10%..

  • popeye!looney tunes!woot!

  • Yeah cartoon network has really turned into a 3rd grader douch3 bag wanna be channel. All of their cartoons stink now and I wish they put back some of the old ones.

  • 2:59 is how CN is now like in wednesday nights, despite what they had initially promised!

  • Was that going to be the original logo?

  • Cartoonnetwork sucks Now, it's golden age ended around 2007.

  • Nick only makes it to 2% and CN only makes it to 80-90%

  • @LuigiMario98982 Correction: Nick is 50% Spongebob and 50% iCarly.

  • @Oliver30 and 100% Hot Gas. XD

  • 5:56 "Turner will become the undeniable cartoon source for the kids of yesturday, today, and tomorrow"

Me at present day: "What happened with the kids of tomorrow (as in, post-90s)???!!! Where ARE the toons for them?"

  • 2:35 is long gone now. ); Why did they do this, not to us, but to THEMSELVES???!!!! Do these people not know their identity (or even their own name)? What about the definition to the word "cartoon"?????????? Same goes for MTV.

  • They have all this content, all the HB cartoons, warner cartoons, and more as they say so why the hell aren't they using it!!!!

I turned on cartoon network this morning 8am (Sunday) and what was on...... Ben f**king 10 what's this crap?! Ten years ago I remember animaniacs would be airing on a Sunday morning.

Have I missed something? Was a rule past at turner that they can't show any cartoons that the channel was built on? They must HAVE this original cartoon content still why wont they air

  • @simonamarriott The thing is that, they have gotten too lazy to air their classics, and they just think of Boomerang as a trash can instead of the spot for baby boomers to entertain themselves. If you had seen Cartoon Cartoons on that channel, you might know wat i mean.

  • @simonamarriott they moved all the old shows to Boomerang to make way for new cartoons

  • @simonamarriott Partly because the kids slowly found shows like ben 10 more entertaining. So of course Cartoon Network shifted toward the majority.

  • 3:26 is taken from a Donald Duck short! The Spirit of '43

  • @classicsguy626 And that ain't the only Disney footage! The sneezing NBC Peacock was taken from "It's Tough To Be a Bird", a half-hour TV special from 1969. The stuff from 4:32 onwards is too obvious for me to mention. XD

  • 1:24 bad influence

  • 44% adults, wow wish cartoon network would learn a thing or 2 from the past. adults still watch cartoons and always will

  • visit cartoonnetwork

  • Yeah, boomerang is at least still around.

Now, I'm waiting for Disney to do the same. They cancelled TOONDisney in favor of Disney XD with no alternative to the former.

  • some decent shows on CN today, but thank god for Boomerang.

  • @ 3:25 that scene is from a WWII Propaganda film called "The Spirit of 43", encouraging Americans to file their income tax, to win the war against Hitler and Hirohito.

  • whose voice is this narrating?

  • 1991=Cartoon network 2010=Cartoon-live action network WTH

  • Wow this is awesome

  • Those were the better days.. Same goes for nickoldian, if not for spongebob I'd stop watching them also..

  • @camiec watch Avatar: the Last Airbender then. Other nick shows are ignorable.

  • I support MAD and I WILL support The Looney Tunes Show (2011)!!!

I'm watching your stinkin' ol' Atanta office, Turner!

  • Beta Cartoon Network logo.

  • well that was educational

  • "Turner will become the undeniable cartoon source for children of yesterday, today, and tomorrow."

    How egotistical.

  • 2:26

    "Nickelonion"

  • Wow! The beginning of an era, that has now sadly come to an end. I miss CN.

  • This was before Warners Bros. bought Hanna-Barbera and ruined it all.

  • Cartoon Network started going downhill when they decided to call themselves "CN".

  • Not exactly-- they still had text saying "Cartoon Network" below that symbol.

  • @sonicfeet I'm just saying, when the "CN" started to replace "Cartoon Network", all the shows began to suck.

  • @0Angel0A mmmm.........cant say that for Star Wars, MAD, or Adventure Time.

  • @ajmrowland Star Wars is shit, but I do like MAD, ATWFJ, Rex and YJ.

:/ Still doesn't keep the other new shows from sucking... Hole In The Wall, what the f-

  • @0Angel0A actually, it feels more like the Original Trilogy than anything.

  • @ajmrowland In my opinion, it captures the spirit of the original trilogy *perfectly,* but it just kills itself with some of its medicre lines and cheesy, cheeeeeeeesy writing. Some things seem too cartoonish or cliche for me.

I wish so much I could say I loved that "Clone Wars" movie they did, but some of the things in it are dumbed-down to an unforgivable point...

  • @0Angel0A well, yeah some lines arent great. The movie was a bad movie, but it was comprised of the worst episodes of the series and had a sucky plot overall

  • Thank goodness CN Real was cancelled, that shit was a waste of a good weeknight. A couple live action shows stuck around, as well as a new addition, Unnatural History, but CN is still at least 75% animated, and with more animated original series on the way, it shows no sign of looking back. Who knew? The future of Cartoon Network... is cartoons.

Boomerang has been good at keeping the Hanna-Barbera library alive too, so all the best to that network.

  • I LOVED YOGI BEAR, FLINSTONES, JETSONS, AND THE SMURFS

  • OMG that prove that this is almost 100% cartoon that if it only didn't show this at 4:03 . I miss how cartoon network began. I think people first complain that when toonami first came out but I like toonami but sorry sometime when think that when toonami first cameout thats I people start complaining on CN. And I can't believe how CN shows live action movies and shows.

  • Cartoon Network should reintroduce Cartoon Cartoons. This, Toonami, and the classics were what REALLY got the network going... until now.

  • @AguFungus They need a "RESET" button!

  • @AguFungus Boomerang exists...

  • i like this but with nick teen and nick toons , boomerang now it all janpainse anime there.. also the batman .. they dont show batman beyond only on on demand on the comcast .. not boomeroyality there ..

  • If only this was true now all cartoons it would be better without adult swim and all those dumb ass shows now

  • the checkerboard logo the second logo 1991 circle logo is the first one then we made the 1992 checkerboard logo then the 2004 CN logo then the 2010 CN logo

  • Hmm, how come "Fish Police" was never shown on the US CN? Well, we were lucky to have "Pirates of Dark Water" (5:41 brief clip) back then.

  • "Sufferin' suckatash'! What in Sam Hill are you talkin' about? You're forgettin' the most important thing! Everybody loves cartoons!"

    Cracks me up that bit.

  • dude the new cartoon network sucks dick... when i was a kid they had the best cartoons ever!! GO BOOMERANG!!!!!! RIP 1991-2004 :((((

  • saved to favorites.. it seems like nickelodeon has forgotten its roots.

  • @VinnyLT9000 i meant cartoon network but you get the point

  • lol 2:34..cartoon network = 100% cartoons.. i feel so sad for kids today

  • @tb0ne1989 ah let me feel sad for myself missing this epicness.(im 11)

  • RIP =[

  • Awesome find! I never knew this exist. It sucks how Cartoon Network is nowadays. They don't care about animation anymore, all they care about is some crappy run of the mill kid live action shows. This network showed some of my favorites like Looney Tunes, Tom and Jerry and Popeye. I personally couldn't get into most of the Hanna Barbera cartoons though. I wish CN would of shown some Walter Lantz toons or some other cartoons from the golden age.

  • Comment removed

  • OMG <3 top cat flintstoneesss. yogi bearr wacky races looney tuness. every showw bacc dennn :[ xx

  • so at that time cartoon network was better than nickeloden?

  • What the hell happened to all of these cartoons? I remember back when I was 5 in the year 1998 these cartoons would still be on Cartoon Network, I watched them most days for hours on end. This new set-up on CN Real, or whatever it's called absolutely sucks.

  • @cjc120 I remember the days when CN used to be on cable until 9pm then TCM would come on the same channel and just before then Johnny Bravo would always be the last thing shown

  • Ahhh, the good 'ol days! Thank goodness for Boomerang or we wouldn't see any of these anymore!

  • I remember being around five years old, maybe four, I'd had a nightmare and my mum was up ironing, so she let me watch CN, and Johnny Bravo was on. Cartoon Network has gone down the shitter, and what the hell is Cartoon Network Real? That's a complete contradiction of what Cartoon Network is about, it's a a channel that broadcasts cartoons (as the name says), so what's with the reality show(s)? CN, you've disappointed me.

  • @MamfaDillinger i feel u buddy. times r pretty shitty for me and im sure alot of people n sometimes i wish i could just sit down n turn out CN to see johhny bravo Dexter's lab and the many other classic shows but ofcorse non of them r played anymore =/ hell i love adult swim but i would do anything to watch the Tex Avery show again or toon heads. im sure theres somewhere online where i can watch it but watching it on a monitor kinda takes the magic out of having it on tv =/

  • @wwereaper There is something more pleasurable about relaxing infront of the television, and it'd be even better if you could flick over the channel and there was Johnny Bravo, Ed, Edd, and Eddy, The Flintstones, and all the other much loved cartoons from the past.

  • Sigh... if only Cartoon Network had the cajones to show Ren & Stimpy.

  • do u guys know about the fusion fall game, well i found a easter egg. if u max your character out u get a secret boss fight with stuart snyder

  • there's supposed to be cartoons!!!

  • there's supposed to be cartoons!!!

  • it's cartoon network, not "bullshit network"

  • I don't get boomerang so I'm not sure, but isn't it more like what this commercial is promising?

  • Thanks for this wonderful video

  • omg oh yeahhh i remember all of these proper cartoons! not like he hannah montana shittt children have to watch now

  • L.L.O.C.N

    Long Live Old Cartoon Network

  • Wait? So they can show old cartoons anytime they want to, BUT they dont fucking do it WTF!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @TheFallen8v Its all crap now.

  • "We never have to worry about scrounging for shows or bidding against the competition." Yeah. Sure. :(

  • i miss these good old days...... screw the disney channel >.>

  • @Brand0n4U i work for disney but i gotta agree screw disney channel XD

  • I miss the old cartoon network!

  • I miss the old Cartoon network, fuck all these new shows, they comin out with adventure time which looks retarded and pointless, and all these live action shows plus the ones that failed in the past, like out of Jimmy's head, which was utter bullshit

  • @9012Ironhide PH, Adventure tTime is pretty cool. If , like me, you liked the old cartoons like Dexter's Lab and Cow and Chicken, I bet you'll like that one too.

Agree a 100000% on the live action crap!

  • jonny quest ftw!!!!

  • was disney ok with their cartoons being shown in this pitch? I can't recall seeing a disney cartoon on disney channel.

  • Thank God for Boomerang

  • @djkool92 I would wish to say it same of Boomerang's Latin-American broadcast, which it's a Disney Channel-like channel. This take Turner Latin America to create "Tooncast" channel.

I really miss that classic Cartoon Network.

    Greetings from Chile

  • @djkool92 i agree, thank god for Boomerang

  • @djkool92 I wish I had boomerang :(

  • I REALLY miss the original Cartoon Network! It's called Cartoon Network for a reason, network for just cartoons. CN Real shouldn't exist because hello it's not a cartoon. CN Real sucks I wish we could get the original back!

  • @cardcaptorserena NO MORE CN REAL!

Trust me, I bet the HB (ahem, now owned by, WB) characters will be pissed off on it.

  • when cartoonetwork use to be awsome

  • Great shows miss the good old days

  • So u mean to tell me that this was CN's original logo? Interesting. Never seen it!

  • @barber747 :o how could you not lol.

  • @p4ndiamond

Because I didn't have CN back then. I didn't get it until September 1996.

  • @barber747 Actually, that logo was never really used for programming, only promotion.

  • @Oliver30

I knew that. It was their prototypical logo.

  • Cartoon Network On Cartoon Cartoons And Cartoon Cartoon on 1996 and 2006

  • This makes me go back to my childhood...I miss good old Cartoon network.

  • This is very well made. CN is not that good today. The only ORIGINAL cartoons they show nowadays is Flapjack and Chowder (which are 2 of my favorite shows).

  • The CN staff today should see this video.

  • @Lars99 Yeah like right now to see their heritage

  • @Lars99 yeah really

  • This is great. Too bad they've forgotten where they came from. I recently found an interview with CH Greenblatt where he mentioned Cartoon Network thought the puppets in Chowder where "too kiddie".....I say we rally for cartoons!

  • They should show this reel to the people in charge of Cartoon Network now. >.>

  • They would probably hang themselves over how it does not encourage ideas spawned for reasons surrounding the idea of materialism.

  • Everybody needs to see this video to be reminded of the significance of cartoons and animation in general. Every statistic and trivia that is being addressed here is pretty much flatly rejected in today's animation world...and we need to bring it back!

  • Long live Turner. I just wish they would bring back old CN

  • cartoons on weekdays from 7-9 am? I remember those days Now it's just the news

  • Great uneathing of such a rare presentation reel! The logo was really different before it actually became a channel!

  • I prefer this logo than the current one.

  • So do I, It's so retro! Probably what logos in the early days of cable looked like.

  • So that was a promotion for the old Cartoon Network. My how things changed, including the logo.

  • @DragonLord1975 - The checkerboard was a more simpler design, and had a lot of creativity.

  • Now that's nostalgic. A network that was 100% toons would be awesome, too bad it doesn't exist anymore.

  • Its interesting that this is about the time when nick came out with its "nicktoons" starting a great rivalry. Rocko the best, maybe of all time.

  • That looked awesome. Hell, I loved Cartoon Network when I was a little kid. Now since we got the extreme amount of crap from Canadian shows and the god-awful CN Real, I decided to watch Adult Swim. Sure some of the shows aren't that great and don't make sense, but hey, it's at least entertaining.

  • Way to go, CN USA.

Now plug 'em back on all other CNs around the globe.

  • I want the youth of America to see this. They have to know what CN was like before "Crap Network Real" showed up. I mean, why do they have to watch shows like "Johnny Test"? Oh my goodness, the jokes on that show will make you facepalm through the entire episode.

  • Well, there IS Venture Brothers, but that's Adult Swim.

There's also The Secret Saturdays, which I enjoy.

  • LT cartoons shown: Crowing Pains (the cartoon that led to the downfall of my old account, though I still say it's PD) Book Revue (AKA Book ReVIEW) Buckaroo Bugs (First LT with Bugs, last LT or MM to credit Leon) The Unruly Hare (only one of two Bugs toons from Frank Tashlin) Daffy Duck in Hollywood Slick Hare Need help at 1:28 Porky Drum Ending Hair-Raising Hare Daffy Duck Slept Here Daffy Duck and the Dinosaur
  • Racketeer Rabbit

    Super-Rabbit

    Bugs Bunny Rides Again

  • I've heard a small rumor that they're bringing back Looney Tunes. I hope it's true.

  • I actually blame Disney for starting the action show fad.

  • *live action

  • That's how it's been for about 10 or 15 years. But since then, they abandon their "pure animation line-up," and launch CN Real; a block airing poor, kid-friendly reality shows that are rehashed from shows that already exist. Therefore, making the network a shell of what it used to be.

  • 100% cartoons you say? That sounds excellent!

    *turns on tv*

    *sees CNReal*

Why did you lie to me?

  • @BrawlZeroEight This was made in 1991. They didn't quite have a 20-year plan in place for this sorta thing.

  • @BrawlZeroEight That is SOO gonna be in a FFFUUU comic someday xD

  • @BrawlZeroEight - *turns on TV, sees "UnNatural History"*

(shocked face) FALCON PUNCH!! *smacks TV all the way to the far east*

  • @BrawlZeroEight now it looks like I seen cartoon network logo and nickelodeon logo differently :) at 2:29

  • @BrawlZeroEight It USED to be 100% cartoons, but now its 100% shit. Fuck you cartoon network. Fuck you for killing Toonami, fuck you for slowly choking adult swim to death, fuck you for no longer bringing us the newest and coolest anime, fuck you for no longer showing the classics, fuck you for canceling Justice League, and fuck you for showing ANYTHING that isn't even remotely animated.

  • Everyone needs to chill. Who needs tv when you have You tube?

  • Because YouTube isn't perfect.

  • And that answers everyone's question... there's less and less children;s and animated programming BECAUSE of the internet. Kids... hell, even adults don't wanna watch TV anymore, and with the lack of advertising revenue (for that and other reasons), there's less and less money in TV period. TV is dying. No wonder networks have to come up with stunt garbage for ratings. Add to that the ridiculous regulations on kids programming nowadays.

  • Two words: Adult Swim.

  • @ 7:21 Was that going to be the CN logo?

  • FAIL lololololol

  • Its ashame all these pre-teen stupid cartoons and CN Real bullshitruined everything.I miss Toonami and the classic cartoons.

  • Amen to that, that's all I can say.

  • @thrashbrian69 toonami was one of tha best :( shameful now, i miss when cartoon network only showed cartoons

  • @thrashbrian69 Seriously! Bring back Tom!! The real Tom, not the one that looks like a fridge with a face.

  • if only the classic shows were back...

  • Hey. A great idea just hit us. How about an ALL Cartoon Network?

It makes me wonder why they ruined such a good idea in the first place. If it isn't broken, don't fix it. Ugh.

  • They already have one, screwball70. It's called Boomerang.

  • Boomerang isn't available to everyone.

  • Blame the past couple of executives, specifically the current ones that came in 2007.

  • Too Bad
