Who needs a silencer on an airsoft gun? If real gun the muzzle flash will melt the baffles then you have a paper can with some melted bits of plastic rattling inside W00T. If the rapidly expanding gasses dont obliterate it to begin with.

This only works for the .22 because it is one of the only rifles without a big muzzle force. It is a cool idea but if you would like to know a .22 really does not need any kind of suppressor because of that reason of no extreme muzzle force, and it is to cheap to handle a bigger round

use subsonic ammo if your using a firearm (likely a .22), otherwise your DIY suppressor will be pointless... its a one shot use kinda thing as it usually get blown apart.

To all you children... there is no such thing as a "silencer" only a suppressor, a muzzle break is what is mounted to the barrel, which is a "flash suppressor" and also can act as a mounting point for your "suppressor". A silencer would COMPLETELY SILENCE your weapon obviously, and since a suppressor only eliminates barrel flash/noise, unless the bolt remains closed after discharge it still makes noise, and unless it's bolt action you have no such luck

I.e., a pre charged pneumatic (PCP) rifle is very loud in the rages of 100-110 dB, average gas powered lawnmower is rated at about 100db, regular conversation is rated at about 68dB. So even is you could dampen 100dB by 10-25%, that's a dramatic difference in sound. And hunting/varmint extermination would be your answer.

I made one.. it does work for PCP's (coz there is no spring) but not so well for springers, there is still noise from the spring chamber :( -TIP: if you are going to make your own silencer/suppressor using this method, don't use foam, its not very good at sound absorption or reflection.. Try using thick sound absorbing fabric and also some sound reflective material (generally used in recording studios and In Car Entertainment) to line the inside muffling chambers. Use PVC instead of princles :)
