dont blame the government for having to do all of this. if mankind wasn't so delusional in the first place, this wouldn't even be an issue. stop the crime in the streets, and the government will have no justification for implementing these things.
I doubt his point was that "governments try to instill an invasive and pointless law, with the veil of security". One would argue that these laws are VERY necessary to protect us from another 9/11.
I'm just playing devils advc. thought. The solution to terrorism will not come in the form of some Big Brother band-aid. I believe human behavior is most effectively modified through education. But the results from that process are hard to quantify in the 4 year political process.
And I'm sure if he(B.F.) was around today he would realize that we trade freedom for security everyday when we follow the traffic laws and walk on the sidewalk instead of on the road.
He's talking about freedom and security on a large scale, not petty, common-sense things. Take. for example, the UK's recent plans to monitor social networking, like Facebook, Twitter and even Youtube (?). This makes no sense. No sane terrorist would openly discuss their evil plans on the internet. "getin on bus now. gt ma bom redy. alla her i cum!"
"brb goin out 2 by fertilisr. LOL!"
etc
What he means is that governments try to instill an invasive and pointless law, with the veil of security.
love the vid, (very reminiscant of hitchhikers). I agree totally, while the government's main purpose is to protect its people, that is oftentimes used as a weapon against them to gain power and control. In the great words of Thomas Jefferson, "When the people fear the government, there is tyrrany. When the government fears the peole, there is liberty." Vote Republican, the party that wants to disband big government and cut back the bureaucracy (even if they get a little crazy with religion)
I agree the government has an almost scary degree of power these days, but the same can be said of individual people. The difference is, the government always had power, whereas individuals only recently acquired it.
A society with the Internet, where every single government action is watched under a microscope, is the absolute LAST place a police state could form. Fearful videos like this are good, but honestly? It doesn't concern me as a serious threat.
Sad, very sad indeed. This and the Real ID cards that are coming. All of this with one purpose, to monitor everyone. When I read 1984 as a teenager, I often wondered, could it really happen? I read the book 35 years ago. When the real 1984 came and went, I thought of the book once more. I remember telling myself, it was just a book, we are safe. Well we are not safe, it is starting to happen. Now I fear or my adult children and my two grandchildren and futer grandchildren.
Yes, I agree. Please don't let me influence you how to vote to avoid this...just look out for the party that never gets a say, even though it is the fourth largest! The ones slienced may be the answer.
I don't think it's 'starting to happen' at all. Individual people have more power now then they ever have. They can quickly and easily hand out their ideas for the entire planet to see in a single heartbeat. Can you think of any other time in history where individuals have held that kind of strength? Because I'm at a total loss.
I've never actually heard anything solid against CCTVs in cities before I heard these folks. Everyone else that I've heard is all 'THEY CAN SEE INTO YOUR ROOM' etc., which is obviously not a very tenable argument. Admittedly, I've not heard a lot of people, which is why I've remained fairly neutral on the subject.
The first step to stopping the big brother state starts outside your front door. In your neighbourhood, town and local community. No global agenda can suceed against strong communities. Its too thin on the ground.

The animation is very nice, but about that last sentence...

I always thought 'our' governments were there to serve us, not to control us.
As for 9/11 and terrorism, I'm more afraid of cutting my finger on a piece of paper.
Nice vid, very well done.

Mugabe for EU President ?
« The EU can lawfully suppress political criticism of its institutions and of leading public figures «( European Court of Justice ruling 2001 ).
The European Charter of Fundamental Rights (art.2,passage 2) states that lethal force can be used to quell « rioting, civil upheaval & during war ».
The same Charter does NOT mention the right of EU citizens to VOTE.
Perhaps they forgot.
Let's remind them in the European elections.
