WOW at 1:38 seconds in I can see my 9 year old daughter laughing, dancing and having the time of her life. It was a wonderful show, event, flash mob, evening PERIOD. At hungry1969, really? It was an opportunity to just not over-think things and raise money for a great organization, GMCLA. I was a proud mother watching her daughter have one of the best moments of her life!
I have 2 say it was SO much fun 2 do this flash mob! I was in the very back but I was one of the first 5 people 2 start the dance! I just love doing flash mobs and just 2 see the crowds reaction is priceless :3
Ya know, perhaps people are getting too cerebral about the whole concept. It's a bunch of people getting up and dancing to make other people smile. Everyone' s having fun. Everyone's enjoying it. If it doesn't float your boat, that's fine, but there's no need to belittle it.
I was there too and the joy was infectious...rock on, Flash Mobbers. :)
When Nikki Blonski yelled "You Can't Stop The Beat", I thought she was announcing the start of the movie, but then the music started, and it turned into a flash mob. This event was hosted by a gay organization, but it was definitely a very mixed crowd (gay, straight, all ages & ethnicities, couples, families). It was great when the entire family sitting in front of me got up and and started dancing together. The flash mob was a fun surprise, and it really hyped up the audience before the movie.
Everyone gets joy from different things. Let's be tolerant of what gives others joy and not belittle it! Dance on Flash Mobbers! I love watching you even if I can't dance! The smiles on the faces of the 1200 other people at the concert, made me smile too!
It was so great to be there. The energy was electric. We were sitting about 3/4 of the way forward. I knew it was coming, but I didn't tell any of the people I was with. SO when the first dancer started, they were like, "What the heck, is she nuts?" Then one by one, and ten by ten, the other dancers got up and started the choreography and it was just breathtaking. There were a total of 250 choreographed dancers in the crowd of about 1500 for the event.
@benpatrickjohnson It was so electric I can't stop removing negative comments about it.!! Ryan Seacrest did a Flash Mob for his mother on 3rd Street Promenade months ago. It' not so novel.
@Babspace Maybe you would like to share that opinion Flash Mob America, the number-one flashmob organizer in the world, who produced this flashmob along with GMCLA. I think they'll get a chuckle out of it.
@benpatrickjohnson I had two thumbs up on that comment, you probably manipulated it, Let them chuckle as much as they please. The hula hoop was popular once too. The "flash mob" creates the illusion of spontaneity in a structured, regimented way This is ideal for the culturally lackluster period we find ourselves in. Something safe, "fun" and carefully planned. We can dance the same, think the same, and be just like the straights too --well, almost!
So FUN! Almost as fun as when I saw it live on B'way. Thanx for uploading!!!!

No, thanks. I'll leave the WeHo wackos to wave their arms in a semi-coordinated fashion far, far away from the rest of the country.
"Flash Mob America". LOL. That's as legitimate a moniker as the Nat'l Organization for Marriage.

I'll be glad when the flash mob craze fades.

Looks like great FUN to me! Looks like a joyous, dancing flash mob!! Keep em' coming!

Um, that's not really a flash mob, guys. Leave it to LA to misappropriate a popular term/activity.

@Babspace What makes it not a flash mob?
roecious 6 months ago
@roecious They were more or less introduced, it was a performance setting and more people seemed to be in on it than were IN it.
