Well, David and Paul have a connection: Brian Eno worked as producer on Paul Simon's album "Surprise". If you haven't heard it, do your ears and mind a favor and pick it up sometime. Very much worth a listen.
This is absolutely wondrous, XD. Despite the bad video quality and sound quality. He's almost preaching it like he did with "Once In a Lifetime". This video is truly the best of both worlds, David Byrne and Paul Simon.
yeah, too bad about the sound/video quality... but this is still a lot of fun to watch and doesn't sound all that bad. I had read that David had done this song and was very happy to find it here!
Oh my god, my favorite artist singing my second favorite artist's song? What! Too bad it's not a great quality. I would kill to be there. I'm so mad at how much David Byrne tickets were in California. Ridiculous!
isn't that strange that some people who don't knwo who david byrne is are so ready to smack-talk him? and those that know and love his work are so ready to defend him? i think the lesson here is that beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
What asshole are you talking about because there is only one person singing and that person singing is a genius? And actually there is no hope for you if you can't identify how he changed music with Talking Heads, they were making music using african influences and polirythmic styles way before Graceland.
I was at this show on Sunday and while just about all of it was incredible, David Byrne brought down the house with these two songs. From the moment he walked onstage and tried to sing backup with the two women, the whole place came alive. He hasn't lost his touch, that's for sure. Thanks for posting - couldn't get this performance out of my head!
i would disagree. i love david - but he doesn't know how to sing this song at all. the rhythm, the melody, all wrong, even the words. the man sounds like he has no soul.
Thank you SO MUCH for posting this. I've been looking for footage of it since I was at the same concert as you on Friday. I love this version of the song. It's really surprising how lyrically similar it is to a song that Byrne would write himself. When he sings it, it almost sounds like a lost track from Talking Heads' "Naked" album.
I hope this entire concert gets a legitimate DVD or CD release. It was just exceptional.
It's clearly Paul Simon's song -- listen since the S&G days ... Cool cover though

What a great tribute between the two people who did the most to bring afro-beat into the mainstream.
Even though the sound quality is not so good as what you can find by P Simon, I think I like Byrne's rendition.

The difference for me is, I would actually pay to see David Byrne do this live than Paul Simon.....without a thought!!

Byrne butchered You Can Call Me All (Sun nite was there...) - but he rocked 'I Know What I Know'
