Great review man, I watched your Vaudeville Villain review and enjoyed that as well. Good work, and I appreciate the more analytical and cerebral approach that you take to the albums. You earned my subscription.
Doom is an artist that's hard to like at first. Like I didn't like him at first but I gave him time. There are people who thinks he the best rapper alive... I don't agree with that but he's still pretty good
so you know i heard you mention that he talks about performing live but doom has stated on the record that he has only performed 1 show as doom. usually he has someone else go in his place that is just rappin over the recording. just a fun fact heres the article
the closest anyone's come to it who isn't actually in madvillain is mos def. the ecstatic was by far the best (one of the only great) albums of 2009. mos flipped his style. like this guy said about madvillain, it takes a while to immerse yourself in, but once you do, the albums are amazingly addictive, much like Quasimoto's The Unseen. And, similar to DJ Shadow, theyre not albums, they're landscapes.
Missed this review, this is definitely my favorite MF DOOM related albums and one of my favorite hip hop albums period. His other project Dangerdoom was pretty good too
this album has some serious replay value. i love how the tracks are mostly short, keeps it fresh and interesting.
anyway, thanks for all the reviews man. you're the only other person i've seen who's actually heard of Burning Star Core, The Trees Community and Madvillain at the same time. keep it up.
Hey, what would be a really good old school sounding hip hop group? One where it sounds like a bunch of dudes sitting in some old ghetto backyard with a fat snare drum and lots of turntable-ism... any recommendations?
I love this album, though I find it takes repeated listening to get into. When I first heard it, I thought meh...MM Food is better, but now, this is definitely at least on part with that. And I really liked the fact that it was short, didn't have anytime to go wrong.
Can't wait for the supposed Madvillainy 2 this year!
Classic album. Madlib is one of the freshest producers out. This album pretty much got worn out on my end since I brought it 6 years ago. If you make music and haven't bought this then you lost.
nice review man mf doom is my favourite rapper his amazing, nd id say this is his second best album ever (2nd to operation doomsday) chek it out if u wana get into doom brother, id also recomend mm food to u (if u havnt got it) anyway keep up the good work dude tc
This is a classic album, I just listened to it the other day for the first time in awhile. Madlib's sampling and production on this album is all over the place and so inventive, and Doom is obviously one of a kind when it comes to the rhymes. I am really anticipating the follow up.
Wow, was expecting a 5/5 from you HotPhilly. Honestly it sounded like a classic the first time I listen to it. Always wondered when you were gunna review this one too. Good to have you back!
lol how stoned are you....one of the dopest albums of all time.....didnt you ever hear the madvillainy remixes, madlib reworked the beats, pretty nice, but yea, doesnt feed the hunger...STACY EPPS, she is amazing, check out her stuff....WHAT???, you didnt like it right away blasphemy...you need to check out OPERATION DOOMSDAY if you havent, its pretty rare, but there are copies out there, all of mfs other projects are pretty dope aswell
Hahaha ! I wasn't stoned. I could never do a review high.
I did check out some Epps while this was uploading. Reminded me a bit of Georgia Anne Muldrow. And I'm 99% sure I have everything DOOM has put out, including Doomsday.
I broke a piece of my headphones off in my sound jack thing. I had no sound on my comp so I just got a new computer. My old one was a piece of shit compared to this one anyway.
I love the album too. But I miss Binary Star more.

@thejavon7466 Doom's a dope rapper but I personally feel like there are lot of rappers that can compete with him and are better than him

It took a while to grow on me, too. I liked MMM.... Food ? as soon as heard the track Hoe Cakes. That shit cracked me up on the spot.

Yeah, that track is so fucking immediate.
And Deep Fried Frenz is also a badass song.
